Conspiracy theory alert:

The news around Blakleys injury was rather secretive for a few days was it not?
Then when it was announced no real news about how / when etc was released.

Did he maybe injury himself in a way that was not becoming of a professional footballer and is now part of a club imposed suspension as a result?
No

I’d suggest the only change will be Cox for McCarthy.

Re: Blakely, there seems to be quite a contingent doing heavy running sessions on Saturdays, at least that is what Webber refers to (ie SHill, Bennell, Ballantyne etc).

Webb in the high quality WAFL report indicated that Blakely played first three quarters on ball before moving to HBF for last quarter. Perhaps they feel a heavy running load this weekend is the best preparation.

Personally I would have dropped Colyer for Blakely.

Darcy’s follow up isn’t afl standard. You’d expect him to dominate hitouts at wafl level, but shouldn’t be in until his follow up is afl ready imo.
Darcy just needs a bit more time at Wafl to get his fitness up - He was on track untill his injury.
His tapwork is outstanding at all levels and he will be a BIG assett when mobile and can provide that follow up work

I wouldn’t be surprised to have no change.

Would like Bewley to Debut.

Can’t pick an out though.

Cox’s numbers in the WAFL haven’t been world beating and he’s been playing defence, and none of our back will be out.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post but I would love to know Freo Fans thoughts on Brayshaw V Tucker this weekend from fantasy perspective, who is gonna get the most ball against Richmond who leak points like they are going out of fashion. Cheers
Toss a coin. Tucker doesn’t get huge numbers often, but he might this w/end

Been thinking Richmond have too many injuries but they're bringing over a similar line up to the one that beat Port Adelaide in Adelaide in Round 4. Two major outs for them from that game for them being Vlaustin and Rioli, but Martin and Houli didn't play in that game and will line up against us.

They have named an extra ruckman Soldo in their emergencies, otherwise it'll be Nankervis and Balta.

I like to see us go with Darcy rucking, and Lobb playing forward at the expense of a tall (could be any of several combinations, won't be a popular but maybe Hogan Cox and Lobb as the three talls), but the main reason being that we run the risk a bit just going with Lobb. If he gets a knock early we're stuffed with no ruckman. Last week Lobb got a knock early when he ran into Lynch.

Have to wait and see who gets through training tomorrow and if there's any changes (ie still hopeful that Blakely gets named). I thought Hogan was limping in the last quarter of the Adelaide game.

No Blakely is bizarre imo.

I don’t think anyone deserves to be dropped except maybe Cam McCarthy if we decide Darcy is required.

Blakely should be the sort of player we just make room for.

He is easily one of our best 5 (when fit)

Can you still make changes if he’s not in today’s list?

Thanks for your insight and thoughtful response.
You done a lot to quell that “conspiracy”.
Blakely was on the Purple Reign podcast and went into quite specific detail about how it happened during training. Right down to how he was positioned while lunging when Ethan Hughes barrelled into him causing uncommon forces which popped his hammy.

That's some nice detail for a story made up to cover up a Zac Clarke level injury.

Astbury a big in for the Tigers.

Astbury, Grimes and Rance is absolutely unstoppable. Take one away and it’s not nearly as formidable but still very. Having just Grimes from that three would’ve made them much weaker imo.

What’s going on with logue?
Granted it’s a Pretty hard backline to break into at the moment
Logue needs a few more runs to get back, he has been out for a long time and is probably fringe best 22 at the moment anyway. Connor looked like he was ready to go but maybe he pulled up a bit sore after the weekend. Another full week's rest and he should be jumping out of his skin.

Don't mind them being extra cautious - we are travelling OK and these guys will help in the second half of the season as the young kids get banged up and tired.

I think Hogan's foot's been hurting him for a while. Functionally he's having trouble kicking over 40m and needs a rest IMO. Can we fit Darcy and Cox in?

If Hogan has a sore foot, is it the same foot as the navicular?

If so, then I'd be asking why the hell is he playing? That would be surely an incomprehensible S+C call!!

Possibly. Would be worth finding out.

I saw him at training a few times and was convinced he was going to miss as he was hobbling and had to leave the field, but he kept playing so who knows?

Well I hope someone can shed some light on Hogan's foot.....

If he's playing sore, I'm surprised it's flown under the radar.

He does have a funny kinda gait/walk. I just assumed that was what it was when he looked to be 'hobbling'
