Its a kind of an old fashioned idea, but I reckon training form would count for something at selection.

Win or lose, in interviews our players used to always talk about their next focus being the next training session, and they even were drilled to the point where they refer to them as T1 and T2

McCarthy out is ok with me, I think it comes down to this - if we're going to play three talls, the third has to be really mobile, be a link up player, and pressure the opposition defence. For whatever reason MCarthy hasn't really met that criteria the last two weeks, so time to give Cox a go and let MCarthy fight his way back which I'm sure he will.

What's really weird to me is against GWS Cox wasn't omitted because he played poorly, we were just making room for a better player to improve our side. Not applying the same rational for Blakely seems really odd and contradictory.

I reckon with him being named in the emergencies so suddenly that he will end up playing tomorrow. Have no fear!

I honestly think they forgot Peel had the bye. This would raise some interesting questions for sure but from personal experience, communication between departments seems to be getting worse by the day in this modern world.

If that’s the case then we’re screwed! That would be top shelf ineptitude from a whole group of important decision makers at our club. I pray that you’re wrong.

Makes you think a mid or half back may have sustained an injury at training yesterday to put them in doubt.

Better not be Nyhuis. Does make you think someone has pulled up short though. Wonder if it's Wilson? Didn't he take a bit of a knock last week? Or was that the week before?

Love that Cerra's getting a stint in the midfield. Interesting move to put Langdon at center HF. Maybe he can use his speed in the middle to break away and deliver the ball inside 50... I would love to see him make the first guy miss and then deliver a nice low ball to the top of the goal square where Cox/Tabs will be charging forward. Should be interesting to see how this works.

Lol there's no way the club would forget Peel has a bye during a selection meeting. Come on...

Hahahaha, whatever...

Boys, boys. Sarcasm. Come on now. I wouldn't honestly believe that the club forgot Peel had a bye, it would be an impossible oversight. And I very much doubt someone decided to overrule the selectors two days after naming the team.

As others have mentioned the team sheet had to be in before end of training so imo one of two things has transpired.

Blakely had a ripper session and would be negligent to be overlooked

Or

A key inside mid has pulled up short or sore at the end of training.

I do like some of the creative writing I see in here though.
