Every good side has speed and elite kicks in the back line. We have Clark

Out Draper for effort alone young switta
In coop Ras Brodie

We haven’t been a serious football club since Brodie was a regular let’s give him 4-5 games and see if anything changes for nothing to lose

First quarter it seemed like they left Johnson unchecked because he doesn't do damage. In fact, he turns it over on a frustratingly frequent basis or retreats, and that demoralises. I hate saying this because he's trying his guts out and is everywhere for us, but I also understand calls for him to be dropped. We just do not deal with fanatic pressure and negating tactics and it seemed like JL was too stubborn to admit tactical defeat and led our players into the slaughter. I usually defend JL but tonight feels like a massive hole has been blown in our game plan and midfield confidence.
Ok. He wasn’t great but he was playing wing in the first quarter and finding space wide. That was his role. He wasn’t the reason or even a small part of why we were so bad tonight. Dropping him is fine, he’s not a match winner but to single him out like old mate disagree did isn’t right imo when I’m not sure a single player could hold their head high. Go after the players who should be leading by example not the 40 game 22 year old.

He's played 40 odd games, is finally starting to work harder and you want to drop him. Of course it's going to draw comment.
Oh as long as he's working harder, that's great.

Disposal efficiency? Missing 2m handballs? To quote the commentators "dear in the headlights". Constantly missing targets under the slightest bit of pressure?

They're all nothing apparently.

So which midfielder gets dropped "old mate"? Let me guess, the mids weren't to blame

You know that we won’t drop any of the mids, especially with Young going out. Johnson was basically exclusively wing until young got injured. So you want to drop the bloke who took the role mid game? The mids were all garbage, dropping the youngest isn’t making a statement.

You're basically describing the whole team. Players look confused. But yeah drop the young bloke.

The wing has been a problem for years.
Thought it was okay with Banfield and Sharp. Now it’s up in the air. That area also have to throw some magnets around.

Imagine if Johnson gets dropped for Erasmus and players such as Switkowski survives. Like what is the culture then? We’re going to blame the kids before the leaders ? We’re okay with ‘effort’ that’s non existence v a developing kid.

Have we ever dropped a player in the leadership group under JL?

You sat through that and Johnson is the one you want out? Laughable.

Insert disagree here.
Johnson was poor. He stood out more because he gets it but then #%cks it up by not pulling the trigger on a low pass to leading target or gives away a free.

Plenty of passengers for sure but mostly because they just didn’t have any impact. Johnson did get it but geez, hurt us a few times.

This is a stupid argument. Serong and Brayshaw didn’t have any impact but they don’t have clangers like Johnson. Young is highly talented but now injured.

I don’t think nobody is saying Johnson is the sole reason, just because someone makes a comment about one player it doesnt mean they are holding that player for full responsibility. Does a post need to list every player assessment to make it accurate?

Brayshaw was clangers galore today

Honestly whatever. Let’s blame the youngest midfielder who wasn’t even playing inside until Young got injured. Drop him, couldn’t care less but it won’t change a thing. Not when our “elite” leaders are cruising around giving zero effort every second week.

Read it again. He’s not the sole person responsible. He is one of many but assessing him I would say he is scared to make the first kick to the first lead, mostly kicks long and high to contests, just seems to not be too smart a footballer. He’s been given an armchair ride and I think he needs to feel
Some discipline and go back to the twos and work on some things.
But the loss tonight was about a lot more things than Johnson.

Very limited options really because any blokes in the WAFL would have to be picked on performance and then they have to back it up in a 5 day turn around, and they're probably going to play in the wet tomorrow.

Someone has to come in for Young. Maybe Raz and Brodie are going to have to play limited minutes.

What team ever has?
We dropped both Peter Mann and Chris Bond while each was captain, and not only did we drop Adrian Fletcher while he was captain, we wen the whole hog and Fnging delisted him altogether.

West Coast Dropped Malaxos for a final in 1990 and then delisted him in the offseason.
At which point he went back to being a high school PE teacher.

More recently GWS dropped Cogs when he was their captain in 2022, and Gary Ayres was dropped back in the early 90s.

Wayne Carey's "dropping" from North probably doesn't count I guess, being for "off field activities"...

You're talking about old blokes getting dropped shortly before the end of their careers. Not 26 years old in their prime.
