Treacy vs McDonald

Treacy has more kicks, marks, handballs, hitouts, tackles, clearances, contested and uncontested possessions, contested marks and 1%ers than McDonald.

McDonald has one more mark inside 50 than Treacy.

Treacy has kicked 18 goals 3 behinds to McDonald's 17.10

Of course it's not all about stats, but give me Treacy any day of the week, I hope McDonald re-signs with Sydney so we can focus our attention on players we actually need.

I think McDonald stays with Sydney, he seems to love the culture there and Sydney seem to have a pretty strong grasp on keeping their talent.

You’d have to look at Darcy being injured and argue for Treacy to be second ruck and McDonald Amiss the main talls. It’s worth it, given the coaches don’t rate Reidy or Knobel.

Eh still don't think the risk is worth the reward, what we'd have to give up for him is far too over for what his value is.

The basics of wet weather footy have remained the same for over 100 years.
Under JL we have been historically a quite poor wet weather side so hopefully we see something a bit different tomorrow.
You don’t need to be a genius to work out that chains of handballs 6 or 7 long to release a player in space won’t work so well with a wet slippy ball. Turnover city incoming if we persist with that on a wet night.

To borrow a phrase from American sport - let’s not get beaten by what we know.

Speaking of what we also know - Heeney Warner and gulden are all kicking goals for fun. At least if we lose tomorrow, let it be McLean or Rowbottom or someone that pops up with the goals. Send someone to Heeney and don’t let him strut around and kick 3 from the midfield.
I’ll be pretty disappointed if we lose and it was I Heeney 3 votes on Brownlow night.

Assuming Sonny is the sub, this would have to be the best running team we could field.
I hope the Swans have the heavier legs after consecutive 6 day breaks and already playing a slog in the wet last week, plus travel.
There's a good chance we finish stronger. Swans ran huge km vs GWS, does that mean they're fitter or they have heavy legs. Guess we'll see.

Separately, keen to see JJV(P?) in action.

Their midfield trio really is special, better than ours and better than Ports too imo. Heeney is finally having his breakout season after being compared to Fyfey for the last 10 years but I'd argue Warner with his burst speed and ability to goal from 50 needs even closer monitoring.

Thats wind. Where, to be pedantic, or more accurately to continue to be pedantic, the numbers are not called 'Categories' (it's the 'Beaufort number' or if you're listen to the shipping forecast it would be called 'Force X'). Where as the 1 to 5 for Hurricanes / Cyclones are called 'Category'.
There is always one in every crowd

I think one of the main reasons we’ve been poor in the wet for the last few years is we’ve been very young, and also that we don’t play in the wet that much.

We should get better as our fielded team matures over the next 2-5 years.

Baker is a superb wet weather player actually. Would be a very handy addition in winter games

“When you’re sitting in Row Z
And the ball hits your head
That’s Josh Tracey….”

(Sung to “That’s Amore”)

I think Voss could be a great in for us. Not only will he bring great pressure in the forward line, but hopefully he will use his bulk to help out Jye and Josh to get a good run at the ball. From what I’ve seen of Voss at Peel he isn’t a great contested mark, but he is perfect to put in a block or two and will be good in the wet throwing his body around to create opportunities for the small forwards

More experienced players are also better at adjusting to a shift in game plan more effectively by the appropriate degree.

It's not that easy just to have players shift away from what you've been training for across a season and preseason and then remain effectively cohesive under the pressure applied by another team. The more experienced players you can have out there being defacto coaches for getting the right mix helps.

After tonight’s effort by the Dees there is the blue print for tomorrow night. Repeat entries into the forward line. KICK IT FORWARD! Overuse of the handball tomorrow night and Freo will get caught out. Sydney good in the wet last week. McCartin a big out for the swans. KICK IT FORWARD!
Nice idea to kick forward. But those set shots on goal.... 4.15.39. not a good day
