I would keep Simpson in. He will be a star and that point of difference we need.

Watching him at the ground today he made sone good leads that were ignored. Just need a few games under his belt to get a feel for it.

When he took that mark up the field and then had to move it on I was thinking "don't fluff this, don't fluff this, your whole game will be on this disposal"

And he cut up the zone and dropped it onto Jackson's lap.

The more we can get him into the game the better.

If we win this we could make a push for top 4. We need to make our home ground a fortress like subi was. Swans have won two in a row against us at home

Traecy vs Logan will be interesting, no doubt Tracey will be playing with a chip on his shoulder given all the noise about Logan.

Switta in for Simpson

JOM to be sub

I thought Simpson got knocked off the ball too easily and when he tried to apply pressure he didn’t have the strength against AFL players. Two or three years ago Freddy was similar, but he did enough to stay in the team. Simpson out, didn't do enough. Switta in.

Emmet, Banfield and Freddy 4 tackles each today. Walters 1 tackle, Simpson 0 tackles.

Sonny has been better the last two weeks. His pace over more than 10 metres makes it tough for him. But he is still a danger the opposition has to counter.

Switta for Sonny and Simpson to the sub. Call it management or whatever we like, but he's out of form.
Sonny won't be dropped.
Freo missed a trick this week, there were plenty of people saying that this week was the ideal one for Walters to have a rest. Poor guy is well down on his best and missing goals he once would have kicked in his sleep.

Yes I would have managed Walters this week but it is certainly an option against Sydney with Switta likely back.

Cooper likely back to WAFL. He is promising young player and a great selection but only 5 possessions in a full game. He will get further opportunities.

My changes
In: Fyfe, Switta
Out: Simpson, Emmett
Sub: Emmett
Em: Simpson, Sturt, Erasmus

Liked the games of Wagner and Worner in the WAFL and big Reidy also played well.

I'm just going to bring us back down a bit, we've come out of the easiest 3rd of our season in terms of opponents played and come out 5-3. We've left at least 1 win on the table that we have to claw back against better teams. Sydney cant bully us in the middle and McCartin is a big out but they are going stifle the crap out of moving the ball like they did it GWS and they are going to try dinky kicks to pull us apart, big coaching assignment for JL this week.

Since GC are going to GC, Brisbane are ****ed with injuries and the Dogs seem cooked, Adelaide is the only other team outside these names with a hope of getting into the 8 I imagine. A win this week is massive for the season

Exactly right. As it has panned out, through the luck of the draw, it's fair to say we probably haven't beaten a team yet this season that will play finals. Massive game for us, this one, against a definite contender for top 4
Simpson out for Switta looks a no brainer. I wish Emmett would be dropped for Sturt too but that's less likely.

If Emmett doesn’t improve his goal kicking he will be forced out eventually

At the moment his pressure acts and work rate is keeping him in

Critical game for our season

I love what they did with Fyfe and Darcy

None of the muppets at fox had any clue we were playing Sydney Friday night off 5 day break… pretty obvious to supporters why they did it against under strength tigers.
It came off well I’m glad they did it.

I hope they aren’t afraid to swap out anyone who isn’t looking like backing up of 5 days. We need people firing in qrt 1 and we have people waiting in wings across a few lines who have had extra day off and not travelled who will do the job if needed

Switta if he’s right, probably for cooper but I’d be happy to see him stay also.

Sub: O’meara?

Yeah I felt good until looking at the ladder position of the teams we’ve beaten. That Adelaide trip really ****ed us.

Lose this week and it’s a double loss since Collingwood overtake us.

Emmett's a tough unit which we need but he's worth bugger all goals. I can't get over that play in the second where he opted to block instead of grabbing the ball half a metre in front of him.

Sturt kicks goals - 17 goals from 14 games last year (where he served as sub for many of them). We struggle to kick goals except for the past two weeks against a broken Tigers unit and a middling Bulldogs team.

I'd even have Sturt in for Simpson and force Switta to earn his way back through the WAFL, as he also struggles to kick regular goals.

I know it means nothing cause we didn't get it done but I thought we were better than Carlton and Port for most of those games.
And we didn't have our best side in. Chapman is huge and we haven't had Darcy, Jackson, Freddy Amiss together for most of they year.
And Fyfe is just getting started.

I don’t think we’ve cooked the season, we’ve played a lot of good footy including away from home against other top 8 contenders but we have made it harder for ourselves. We have to claw back an extra game or two against top opposition and Sydney would be a great start

Sturt can’t kick goals in the role we need him to. Did you really look at this game and think “Gee, we could really do with another lead and mark player inside 50. We clearly haven’t been marking it enough.”

He’s not going to be getting in the same place Emmett generates his shots from. Emmett is always involved in the chains up the ground and the majority of his chances come from him running into the 50 from the middle. Sturt always plays much deeper and won’t generate those same shots.

Sturt relies on other people’s work to kick goals. He’s always the last link in the chain. You can’t compare him to Emmett because he will never be in the same position to score as Emmett. I’m sure if he found himself in those same positions he would kick goals from there. But he clearly can’t play that role. And until he shows that he can then I don’t think he’s the player we need to fix our forward line. Decent depth for injury, but nothing more

I agree. But two important things to consider, our victories over Adelaide and Richmond were their biggest losses of the year

No doubt there's a lot of hard work ahead. I was just making the point that I don't think we've actually had our best side all together until today. I know we don't have Cox and Switta but I don't think we're losing too much with Draper and Switta is patchy. In terms of having the players that make huge difference to our style/synergy/ability to execute our gameplan - Chapman, Freddy, Amiss and Darcy are right up there and this is the first time we've had them all in one team.

I actually had the thought before the game that our season starts today in terms of seeing what we're actually got and how far we've come. We've been filling holes and making do, today was the first time all the pieces were in place.
