long way to go between now and next game jen. from what we can tell, he's fully fit and is only best 21 due to injuries. that's if he's best 21 at all.

People in HERE say he's only in the side because of injuries. Not sure that's what Sando thinks though.

if he wasn't dropped for a game last year, I'd be inclined to agree. he does get a lot more leeway than younger and more inexperienced players though. but sando has proven that his patience is finite with radar.

I think the out on the full in the first qtr will be the straw that breaks the camels back. As a senior player and leader of our club we can't afford for suck a basic skill error, 5 bounces ignoring many opportunities to pass the ball then try and get too cute with the disposal and put it 10 rows back into the crowd. Lynch was the intended recipient and he was 5-10m from the boundary line. not good enough from a senior player with nearly 200 games under his belt

Bring in someone who can teach our guys to kick straight.

And another who can teach our guys how to handle the pressure of being tackled.

A forward coach who understands forward structures and how midfielders should deliver the ball to it.

A new CEO would be nice. Regardless of Tipgate, Trigg is not ruthless enough. He has got comfortable in his job.

Choco was apparently very good at kicking drills :)

CARLTON free agent Bryce Gibbs has indicated he wants to stay with the Blues beyond 2014, and his contract negotiations are progressing well.

Heartened by discussions with the club about its direction and where he fits into its plans, Gibbs said Carlton's future was less dire than many were predicting.

He said he hadn't thought at all about leaving Carlton despite his position as a restricted free agent, but negotiations took time.

"If it could be done tomorrow it would be done tomorrow," Gibbs said. "I'm settled in Melbourne. I've been here eight years."

However, Gibbs said he did not know if other clubs had approached his management, and that he didn't want to know if they had because he was focused on playing good football for Carlton.

He was unfazed by suggestions that Carlton might be better off losing Gibbs and receiving a top 10 draft pick as compensation to fast track its process of building a top-four team.

"Everyone is entitled to their opinion and that is fine but a lot of those people [aren't] around the inner sanctum of the footy club and don't have a full understanding of what is going on, so their opinions are irrelevant in my book," Gibbs said.

Poulos and Ogilvy are my main gripes.
If they were the BEST candidate for the job, no problems...
But did the club actually try and attract the best? I highly doubt it... I will never be able to comprehend why we didn't move heaven and earth to get Burgess.

Ogilvie was always gonna take over from Rendell and to be honest I actually rate Ogilvy as the mastermind behind Rendell's good recruiting.

Danger, Sloane, Hendo & Talia were all Ogilvie's work. He was our vic recruiter and was the guy who monitored all those guys.

Rendell oversaw the recruiting but listened to his recruiting staff.

I wonder who was the gun who wanted Claude the crow. That wouldn't have been Ogilvie was sitting in Melbourne.

Hmmm.... It's true they were not perfect;

28 - McKernan
29 - Beams
30 - Hannebury

Had this argument a million times... Ogilivie was a great scout, no doubt... But Rendell was paid the big bucks to gather all the information from his various scouts and make the right call. Now the club has lost it's gun scout in Ogilvie and we have lost the bloke who has a knack of making the correct decision.
If you rate Ogilvie as being an incredible scout cause he is from Victoria where most of our players come from that is being a bit narrow minded.

And like every recruiter Matt made some good decisions - but he also made some howlers.

It's an inexact science

No doubt... But with the picks he had I think he did exceptional...
And unfortunately Ogilvie has had next to nothing to play with thanks to Trigg

have i missed this news somewhere?

Long way to go between now and next year Stabby.

Of course there is - but if we follow that argument through to it's logical conclusion, then nobody should ever be signed up for more than a year unless we think they're a chance to get poached. And that would create a terrible "haves" and "have nots" culture.

It's a list manager's job to take calculated risks on how much longer a player can be relied on to be in our best 22. I am very comfortable with Reilly's contract going until the end of next year.
