Crap. I must be watching different games to the coaches.

Edit: No disrespect to Pitt

You also aren't watching the games in the context of the various instructions and roles players are given, nor are you watching training, or a number of other factors that may influence why the coaching panel see players differently to the fans.
Not necessarily defending each of the guys in the team, but I am willing to back the coaching team in for at least a few weeks - early days yet for the season!

Good to see Pitt back and I'm sure Crichton will get his chance soon

Suprising they opted for Pitt instad of Chricton who played great for Peel last week. All though I do loving watching the newcomers play games.

I reckon Walters will get one more chance to prove himself before they make the change to Crichton. Jesse has played two solid games in the WAFL now, whereas Walters AFL form would be best described as patchy.

On the bright side the Peel coaches will be super happy that they have Jesse for another week.

Would have prefered Chricthon in for JVB, but Pitt is a great inclusion into our side.
If Pitt does venture forward maybe he might be a good avenue to goal! With his pin-point silky kickin skills they could just play Walters "behind" the goal line and tell Pitt to kick it to Sonny :p

With no inclusion of Anthony and dropping of Johnson, maybe MJ will be on the pine as the sub and bring him on if a player goes down or to make him hungry and put in a big effort once he is on the ground.

Bradley is the obvious match up.

Yeah that's obvious but if you read my post it was referring to ideal matchup. We don't have an ideal matchup for Rutten (except maybe Pav). I think this is to our advantage.

For example, if we play Mayne at FF, he'll run Rutten into the ground by the 4th quarter.

Postives: One less tagger/defensive player.

I find it very strange that they added Pitt considering he sat last week out and is a young kid playing on the road. Going to be a player just not sure he was the answer for this week.

Very stiff on Chrichton who actually played and played well. Doesn't do anything to rectify our forward line either.

Hopefully Pitt proves this wrong and comes out and kicks a couple to get us going.

Tip: Walters or Roberton for sub. Pitt subbed off in third quarter.

I'd like to see sonny as sub and swap him with Pitt late in the game. If he is given a bit of a rocket before going on, could have a real impact if the game is close. Possibly upsetting their set up just long enough to get a couple.

Definitely the kind of player to kick a couple in a hurry esp. if he can catch them on the hop.

I'd like it to be Anthony, with a late swap for Johnson. I don't like my chances though.
In all likelihood if one does travel, I would suggest it would be Chrichton.

If Anthony travels you'd have to say he will play, this would be my preference too but I don't see it happening.

Chrichton would make the most sense but then again, if he's not going to play he might as well play in the wafl.

Makes selection stranger IMO.

Crichton was made available to Peel last night; he won't be playing in Adelaide.

I am really looking forward to watching Pitts career, but I am pretty surprised that he is ahead of Crichton, or Van Berlo and Pearce for that matter. From the latest draft I had expected he may be one of the last to debut. Good luck to him, he is obviously ahead of schedule.

A couple of players must be on their last chance before going back to the WAFL.

A day game in Adelaide early in the season is a positive and helps our chances. Freo by 12 points.

This seems a strange choice. Then JVB would have to travel then as Anthony is clearly unlikely to. I know modern footy is different, but if I didn't make the 1s I would want to be playing 2s so I could prove my worth, rather than travel with the team.

Out of interest do we always have at least one emergency travel? Or do we sometimes travel without one?

Walters has to play as he is confidence player, and will no doubt be down a little after his stuff-ups last week. Get him on the field, a quick goal, and he will be firing again

What if we get him on the field and he doesn't kick a goal? I like son-son but you are describing exactly the sort of player I do not want.

However, a player that steps up in finals, like against Geelong, and that can weave through packs at crucial times, like against Carlton Rd22, is exactly the kind of player I do want.

I also noticed that just about everytime he gets the ball in his hands (and doesn't juggle it over the goalline) good, and often excellent things, happen. It just needs to get there more often.

Actually strangely although Walters is probably a confidence player as to getting the ball, he is probably our most reliable kick - even when he isn't going gang-busters if he can just get the ball into his hands near enough to the goal he is very unlikely to miss, whether set shot or on the run. Juxtapose this with say Mayne or DeBoer or Van Berlo or other types of player that might play as a flank/pocket forward.

It would be silly to travel without one, what if someone in the 22 gets food poisoning/a cold/twists an ankle in the warm up?
