Changes v Adelaide

I just don't know why they wouldn't give Schulz one last AO game given that absolutely nothing is at stake anymore. Unless, of course, they are planning to keep him on more year.

I am 50-50 as to whether Schultz or Butcher plays but I am not convinced Schultz has recovered from his prolapsed disc. Not sure how well Schultz moved for the Magpies last outing maybe someone who was there can tell us? Kicked a couple of goals but was not listed in our best. I would not be picking Schultz on sentiment alone he has to justify his spot.

Dixon is definitely cooked for the year so we may do better giving Butcher another chance to resurrect his career.

If Butch didn't play last week it's because Kenny has made up his mind about whether he stays next year - regardless of whether that's in or out.
Given that Schulz is probably retiring and Howard is gone for next year, I'd hope that we retain him again, but who knows.

Given that we are 4-6 at home (4-7 if you count the away showdown), almost certainly going 4-7(8) and having lost most of our home games in a pretty bad way, why not give the home crowd some sort of joy by giving a farewell game to a club champion.

Though to be honest, if this were the case, you'd think the club would have announced it by now which means either:
a) Schulz doesn't intend on retiring (could be delisted or kept on)
b) The club just doesn't think he's fit to play AFL

Has no intentions to retire unless something has dramatically changed in his mindset the last 2 weeks. :thumbsu:

He's been an awesome player for our Club but he's done.

A real test of character and strength for our list management team, take the easy 'good bloke' option and let him go on or start being real in regards to our list, the managing of players and regain a ruthless approach by telling Jay "it's time".

In all honesty that discussion should have taken place already and he should be given a farewell game in this weeks showdown.

If he does go on whatever little faith I have in Hinkley will be truly exhausted.

I'm biased but I disagree. **** he looked sharp in round one coming off only a few practice matches and 5-6 weeks of full training, only to miss another 3 months with more surgery. If his back is right, which he's certain it is, I think he'd regain some of what he looks like he's lost right now after a pre-season. If he wants to play I hope there's a buyer out there

I wouldn't like to play Schulz just for those crows w***ers too boo him off the ground.. He deserves much better than that IMO.

would rather (if he does decide to pull the pin) that we give him a lap of honour at our 1st home game next season so OUR fans can give him that farewell he deserves.

I really hope you're right and that he plays for us.

Unfortunately, what I have seen on the field doesn't fill me with much hope.

Schulz isn't done

Has another year in him imo

Agreed, plus with Howard unlikely to be available for many, if any AFL games next season, Charlie's ankle, and marking issues, and a line probably through Butch's name already, it would be foolhardy to give Schulz the lemonade and sars as well.

Assuming of course that he is fit, and wants to keep playing. :)

Hamish Hartlett on Triple M just said Dixon wouldn't play and then mentioned Schulz coming in.
WTF, Kern hasn't rung all of the members with the changes yet and Hartlett is announcing it on Triple M

Nah, he rang me. Told me he reckons Butchers and spud and that they were about to offer Lobbe a 10 year deal. Then he told me I'll get what I deserve and mumbled something about Port Adelaide football before hanging up on me.

I hope Schulz comes out and plays a blinder, I'd like to see him go around for one more year. If you were tossing up between Butcher and Schulz on who deserves to stick around for one more year, you'd choose Schulz every day of the week.
