And if North had too many big blokes, the Crows could possibly have Walker, Jenkins, McGovern and Lynch if he came back in (although that sounds unlikely). Dale Morris often gets Betts, so there's one of our "tall" backs gone, we would need Roberts back in. Our perhaps see if Collins is ready to go on Jenkins (8 goals last year), try to stop those cheap out the back ones he got against us last year.

Collins or Roughy ate best suited to the dinosaur type forwards ( big and slow) but they too are becoming extinct. Lead up forwards pose a danger to those 2 options. Roberts and Cordy imho are the only 2 true KPD types we have without Adams. Morris has for too long been asked to punch above his weight and at his age I'm hoping we can stop asking him to do that. With everyone having their opinion on JJ I may be tempted to set him a challenge and put him on Betts. Would be an interesting match up. But let's be honest, our high press allows team to exploit us with over the top running into open goals and Betts is probs the best in the League at that tactic. With zone defence the old school " touch and feel" defensive mantra is no longer viable, so unless a player is instructed to specifically go toe to toe with a forward (but holes in the zone would be the price) I'm not sure how you stop Eddie.

B- McLean Roberts Morris
HB- Wood Cordy Biggs
C- Hunter Macrae Johannisen
HF- Murphy Boyd Stringer
F- Dale Redpath Bontempelli

R- Campbell
RR- Picken
RO- Dahlhaus

INT- Wallis, Suckling, Daniel, M.Boyd.

In- T.Boyd, M.Boyd, Roberts.
Out- Roughead, Dickson, Honeychurch.

Plans- McLean to Betts, Picken to Sloane.

Push wings back play a four man forward structure with
Murphy and Stringer as high half forwards.

Aims- Slow down and congest their forward half and take
advantage of no Tom Lynch who is their connect man
while maintaining a set four man forward line. Learn from
what Carlton did without the ugliness.

As those annoying meercats say "Simples".

Dogs- 13. 6. = 84
Crows- 9. 8. = 62

Well looks like a piece of piss on paper.
Sounds good Yojimbo, i am on board all you need now is some
buy in from the players and the phones to be "Out of order"
in the coaches box and we are a sneaky chance.

Question, what tall forwards do you think you will play this week?

Looking at matchups against our Defence, with Harto out will be interested to see what we replace him with, depending on how you guys think Bulldogs will likely line up

What's a tall forward?

Boyd Redpath Roughead you call it its your players
Woosh. :)

Red will most likely play. Rough's been playing defence badly so could find himself out of the team or back at home as a ruck/forward. Boyd has to pass a fitness test, and if fit, his inclusion likely depends on what we plan to do with Campbell/Roughead.

In short, who knows. There are a lot of directions we could go this week, and none of them are particularly appealing.

Trying to workout if you are serious regarding McLean. Never played backline in his career and u want him on the comps most dangerous small fwd.

If you are going to start why not start at the top, McLean is quite
good in the air and not bad for pace, plus ScragCity gets the
added bonus of having Biggs and Mclean in the same zone in a
regular smoothie frenzy. Maybe i have run out of ideas and it's
time to launch the white board or get out the dart board.

Will be bloody interesting to see if Bevo tags Sloane given recent events. Send Wallis to him head to head. I will be ropeable if he's left to do his own thing and carves us up.

Don't think there will be many changes as only TBoyd removed from the VFL game game ( surprised Clay Smith was not withdrawn at half time ) .
In T Boyd
Out T Dickson

We have a gun tagger on our list that is a gun as a midfielder in his own right, but is severely out of form with one good game a couple weeks ago. Why not let him tag to get some form back?

Can Bevo swallow his pride and have the balls to send JJ to Sloane?

If you're going to be tagged out of the game, you might as well at least contribute by taking out their star playmaker. It gets JJ closer to the ball and no better way to learn how to beat a tag than in congestion with blocks and umps providing a bit of protection.

I always thought Webb was being groomed to replace Murph but I wouldn't mind seeing Dale step it up and own that spot.

Will be interesting if the Crows tag and bully JJ like the rest of the comp has and Bevo uses JJ to tag somebody like Sloane. What does Adelaide's tagger on JJ do?

I like Wallis going head to head. Seems like the sort of guy that can do the job but still rack up his usual numbers as well.

I wonder what's up with Clay. After both knees he was pretty much rushed straight back into the ones. Played limited seconds although he did perform well at Footscray on his returns. This suggests he was a bit of a Bev favourite,Bev clearly liked something about him.
This year he had to work he's way into the seniors, and since returning from injury continues to languish in the seconds despite the senior sides poor form.

Clay looked unfit to me at the start of the season. Like he has put on weight and while not normally fast he looked extra slow which could have been the added weight.

Really wanna see a debut from Lipinski and Young soon. Think both could add something.

Also i know his a bad shot at goal but with Crameri out i found that Dunkley played a very similiar role to him and i think it's hurt us having him out of the side.

Clay returned post GF in terrible shape and this has effected him this season . Just don't know how the club could let that happen , what was he doing pre season. It just highlights that we got quite a lot wrong with how we tackled this year .

The players were happy to have won and didn't think they needed to put the work in.

With the way the AFL is these days if you don't put the hard work in early its too hard to catch up and our fitness is terrible.
Maybe it's the year we needed to have to see hard work is still required.

I will be gobsmacked if we are this underwhelming next season and don't push for top 4.

JJ to Sloane.
He needs a task. Sloane positions himself well at the contest, JJ can at least catch him.

Clay Smith has to come in. Honey was terrible last game, Smith had 16 tackles in the VFL which signals string intent.

Goes to JJ leaving Hunter free on the outside

The Crows just don't tag and bully. It drives the Adelaide BigFooty forum nuts. It is the Malcolm Blight 'play footy in the right spirit' mentality that means we (Crows) keep losing to the dirty teams like the Hawks (and currently Demons)

I don't expect him to given how he has spoken about taking away from systems etc in past, but guess what judging by the last couple of months the current system is stuffed anyway.

I think this week will tell us a lot about our coaches and if they have any plan b and ability to adapt. The blueprint for adelaide is clear for everyone to see, keep extra back so they can't run forward of ball into goal, hard tag on sloan, double team Jacobs from kickouts and hold off on crouch brothers forcing them to kick rather than release handball. However i doubt it will happen as Bev seems to be unwilling to deviate from his system
