I’m not sure why we would move Cordy out of defence. Really he is just about a ten year lock on the 2nd/3rd tall defensive position.

In my mind he shares some Glenn Archer traits, tough and aggressive with a team first attitude.

My thinking is that they are the exact qualities we need to improve inside our forward 50 to obviously increase scoring and pressure on opposition interceptors where most opposition attacks begin.

Worked alright for us in the 2016 finals series.

Anyway won't happen this week Bevo just said Morris will come through the VFL.

He didn't really play as a scoring forward though, his role was as a defensive forward against the WCE who have the best intercept markers in the competition.
He was so good at it he kept that spot for the next three weeks as well, although Grundy got a hold of him during the GF.

His long term position is as a defender and he's playing well there. Leave him there.

Ideally I'd rather Cordy in the backline, because if he is in the forward line it is because our F50 entries are messy rather than precise. In reality are entries are messy, so it makes sense moving him forward at times.

If Schache is not good enough to get a game, I understand, but it’s a little harder to rationalise how he’s not physically ready if he’s already played 27 games at senior level even if it is for one of the lesser performed clubs.
There are many factors in play when young key forwards come from VFL to AFL.

You have to ask what are our expectations on his role for the team? What we need to have in place to achieve this? Are we wanting to just give him a taste or when he does come in he stays in for an extended time?

I’d rather see him come in and work as that 2nd or 3rd marking option behind Boyd Gowers a resting Bont even Trengove. Allow him 20-40 in this role.

So is Boyd ready, physically and mentally for that role?

To we have the pieces up the ground to make our kicking efficiency better? So when he is in, it’s easier for him to get into games.

The pressure at VFL is lesser meaning it should be easier for ball movement.

Also we need to be thinking big picture, for mine 2018 is a nothing year for schache, I’m looking at trying to make sure he is performing at AFL level come 2020/21. Get that right and that’s when we will start seeing something special from this group.

Morris is playing Friday night In Adelaide if he gets the all clear on Thursday at training. He's not playing VFL this weekend, 100% sure of that. Wood will come in too but Adams will be the one to get a week or two in the VFL first I think, especially with his injury history. Interested in giving Adams a few weeks in Redpath's role at FF while we have Moz, Cordy, Wood, Naughton (back in a few weeks) etc all down back .

I'll put my hand up, I was wrong.

Agree with Adams.. don't agree with Morris
Maybe they are concerned about combination of wet track and travel? A puggy surface might not be ideal first game back.

Yeah I know he wasn't a scoring forward but I think the role he played actually gave our other forwards more opportunities to score more.

It probably won't happen unless Bevo feels the pressure and makes one of his radical moves that normally pay off.

Correct decision by the club on Morris. I'd leave out Young too on a wet track especially with Walker and McGovern out.

Cordy on Jenkins
Wood on Lynch

In: Wood, Trengove
Out: Naughton, Young

Trengove to ruck or provide relief in defence if Jenkins is performing.

I agree if he’s not playing well enough or there’s not the right role then he shouldn’t play.

I don’t buy he’s not physically capable when he’s in his 3rd year and has been able to play 27 games at that level already and we’re also happy to play Naughton and Young in key positions at a younger age (as we also did with Cordy).

2018 is an important year but I don’t think you’re disagreeing so much on that in saying it’s a write off - i interpret that more as saying not expecting senior games. I can live with that although I’d prefer him to be playing a few this year.

As for 2020/21 that seems a bit long. 2020 would be his 5th year of football - but if you’re saying that’s when you want him consistently performing not just starting to get games then again I can live with that.

Well, I think it is sensible to have Adams and Morris resume through the VFL. Both have missed lots of footy. With Adelaide's outs and some wet weather, I don't know what to think of this game. Could be a shocker to watch, but I think we would all take an ugly win.
