Because there is not a single player available that is an upgrade on Pearce, Mzungu or Ibbotson, and we're playing finals. No time for experimenting.

Are people seriously still calling for the heads of these guys?
Honestly they shouldn't even be discussing the team on any level if thats how little their knowledge is.

Given that in the real world only injury (or miraculous recovery from one) is going to change the team, do we have any real news on how the players have pulled up. From my knowledge only Pav had a question mark, Hill was hobbling various times through the game and I reckon (guess) he got a jab to keep him going. Do we have any news? When will they have a training run this week?

They trained today if you missed the news. One goodthing Ross said is Luke Mc is recovering well.

Went down to training this morning and as you would imagine it was a very light session that started about 1 and a half hours later than usual. Maybe to give the lads as much rest as possible maybe to go through game plan.

Ballantyne looked really sore and did a few drills but wore a different kit to everybody else (Everyone wore a red jumper, he had a training singlet on) and pretty much just made an appearance and a few laps. Fyfe and Mundy ran laps. McPhee was not there but I do not think it is unusual for the vet's to miss a training session if not feeling 100%. Thought I saw Pav come out to kick a few goals at one point but not positive as it was a long way away. He was not out for long if it was him.

A reasonable crowd of about 200 this morning plus usual media boof heads.

Edit: Did not notice any other absentees. Hill trained.

No change for mine. We've just knocked off the reigning premiers at the MCG and really there isn't any need to change a winning formula barring injury.

Wish I could say more than that but I was a bit distracted at the game fighting a battle up near the back of section M3

In the spectating stakes though:

Out: Me
In: Someone who's not likely to nearly cause a world war in the stands

Thanks for the update. Did you manage to catch any (other) BF diehards down there taking notes?

Ross Lyon on news tonight "Luke McPharlin is rehabbing extremely well"

I think he'll play
Well if so, you'd think we'd have to take cover for him into the game? If he went down again, we'd be up shite creek esp. considering how we went last time with no Macca or Silvagni and they didn't even have Tippett in the game.

Yep Pav was definately out there. Saw him having a light run and practicing his kicking.

Judging by Ross Lyon's comments they were really going focus on set shots for goal this week.

I didn't call for Ibbo to be dropped. He just needs a good old fashioned kick up the arse.

Stats say he had three tackles last week. Anyone remember one? Stacks on the mill stuff.

The only effort at a tackle I remember was the girly throw your arm out effort. And it happens every week.

Roberton and Spurr are interchangeable. I just prefer Roberton.

To put it in perspective though, McPhee didn't lay one tackle. How'd you rate his game? Either did Fyfe.

If McPharlin comes in Silvagni will have to play, just too big a risk with Tippett and Walker there. Possibly Kepler misses out

Maybe I'm a lone voice here, but I think I'd be a little upset to see McPharlin included.

I love the dude, but hammies are typically a three week proposition and Ross seems to be pretty strict when it comes to rehab. Need I remind y'all of the 'questionable' attitude that cruelled our season last year?

I would hate to see:
1) McPharlin re-injure himself, too important a player to risk. Get him right for the Hawks (if we get there!) or ready for a ripper pre-season.
2) Our defence left compromised as a result of said injury. This is a do or die game after all.
3) Silvagni denied of the opportunity to step-up. Fit SCNOS over a player with question marks. Even one of Luke's ilk!

Yeah, I'm with this. I would love to see Elvis out there as much as the next guy, but I'm a big believer in you play a fit average player over a star 'suspect' player. It's always tempting, especially in finals, but it rarely, rarely comes off.

BTW, thanks to 13then7 for the update.

I tend to agree, I'd hate for us to swap out SCOS for Macca, only for him to tweak it in the 1st qtr and have to be subbed off and replaced with the likes of a Suban or Spurr or something, that's leave us very vulnerable for 3 qtrs and at the risk of stating the obvious, it'd severely jeopardise our chances for victory.

SCOS didn't do too badly, and I have a feeling a second consecutive game under his belt with us will see his form improve, Griff's first game this year for us was a stinker I thought but once he got his rhythm.. well, you know.

Defence was just fine last week. Silvagni didn't stand out (other than a couple of clangers due to nerves/trying too hard) but he played his role. He's no McPharlin but you couldn't accuse him of not going 100% at the contest.

Yep. Just too many variables for a team that prides itself on structures. Nothing personal Pharlap!
