I like that TBH. As much as I want to see Smith and Lyons get a game this week, do you drop players from a near 10 goal win?

Not having a go at you Jumbo, but this is exactly the type of attitude that we need to change to take it to the next level.

Last weeks performance is irrelevant - it isn't about dropping someone, it's about whether we have anybody outside of the 22 who played last week that can make us a better team this week.

Correct.. to a point. There's no point, or need, to make wholesale changes. Bringing Lyons in is not going to change very much, if anything. Bringing Smith back, on the other hand, makes our team stronger.

My guess - Smith is probably the only change we'll make, provided the selectors are happy to bring him back after just one SANFL game. If he needs another SANFL run, then I'm expecting the "no change" sign to go up.

Yep. And considering the opponent last week and this week, we need to get better quickly.

God I hope Brodie Smith is 100%. Carlton love their counter attacks. It would be nice to have one smallish defender who can keep up...

Well without going on stats he was better than
Jacobs
Porps
McKay
Laird
Talia
Arguably better than
Brown
Wright and hendo
So yeah he was far from our worst today.
And everyone sees the game differently so stats are one way of putting point of view across.
You and some others believe he was our worst today I and a lot of others don't.

He was defintiely NOT better than Talia, Brown, Wright, Hendo.
He may have been better than McKay
Unfair to use Porps (no game tiem), Laird (first game) and Jacobs (clearly a totally different role).

Hey crow fans, just wanted to pop in and see if you think Kerridge will hold his spot in the team (or if he is likely to be dropped/the sub this week?)

Over on your SC thread, most crows fans seem to think he should be safe for the next 3-4 odd games.

No doubt Smith is better than Jaensch. However, Jaensch is ahead of Laird, even though he was solid on his debut. Jaensch has also been better than Brown for the last 2 weeks.

Disagree. I think Brown has played 3 respectable games out of 4 while id consider Jaensch has played 1 respectable game out of 4, maybe 2.

I think he will play. He was good last week and changed our structure for the better (allowed wright to find his own ball instead of playing defensive). I would definitely say that while Van Berlo is out he will almost certainly be in the side.

Yeah 'The Kedge' earnt his spot for the Carlton game at least. Can't see anyone who would come in the displace him. We will need Wright freed up this weekend.

I think we could do with a touch of class for this week. Personaly I'd prefer to play Carlton at Docklands, but considering there's gonna be alot of uncontested ball (as carlton like it) someone who has good ball use, can go long away. Especialy since Lynch,Jenkins and Walker will stretch them ( if we get enough ball)

Should play as long as VB remains on the injury list.

Cheers guys for the info, sounds like he will get a decent run at least. Saw on facebook that Crouch might be out for a few weeks too so might give him more game Kerridge more security again.

Hope you guys can beat the blues this weekend :thumbsu:

I'm always very reserved when it comes to recruits, and tire of the fanfare on this board when it comes to our new guys, so measure your perception of what I have to say accordingly.

Apart from NAB, I've seen Hartigan in only two SANFL games and he's been OK. He chalked up low 20s disposals on the weekend but took about 10 marks. Half of those marks were from the ball being chipped around in the back lines but he also intercepted a few. He's mobile enough, reasonably quick for a big guy, and delivers the ball well. I noticed he tired towards the end when guys like Riley and martin and Tambling for Sturt looked like they'd only just come on fresh in comparison to most of the players in both teams. Hartigan's was a serviceable game but right now he wouldn't be as good an option as L Thompson or Shaw (when fit) from my observation.

At the moment he's not shining but he's going OK. In fact, I feel his fewer touches at AFL level were more impressive than his good game with South last weekend.

I am not subscribing to bringing in Hartigan but I am interested. He is 22 so he is not a "youngster" and I understand he is still developing but from what I understand he is a possible solution to our issues in the back line yet no one has mentioned him. Having said that I sometimes feel we hang on too long, to players because of their past contributions/reputations and as a result our recruits dont get the exposure they need. I look at St Kilda and see what has happened to them because for a good number of years they didnt blood any youngsters. We have done that better that the Saints have but you look at Geelong and how they continuously blood youngsters with a blend of experience. Thats where we need to get too. Of course all of this depends on our ability to draft/trade players that will be aboe to do the job.

Smith is a monty but as an after thought did not Stiffy generally play well back in defense against the fast smaller forward types that Carlton have.

Yes i know he is not quite the player he was a couple of years ago & our coach has more or less gave him his marching orders.
