Right calls in my humble opinion. Carlton will be hard to beat. Another great test for us. Lyons will get his chance in due course.

I will add a condition, if Vince gives away another cheap 50 meter penalty with the game in the balance, then he will have worn out his welcome and should be banished never to return.

Vince was the safe selection as less risk than Lyons, given the experience. Just disappointed as sends wrong message IMO. Vince has been crap for the Crows all year & after 1 good SANFL game is recalled. Lyons has been consistently good all year. But ins Sando we need to trust.

Vince.............

Not just the 50m penalty, but the looseness in defence that let Wingard and Neade run amok in the last 40 minutes of that game.

BTW. Did Porps play for West today, as we need to get some game time into him?
No. Travelling emergency? Hasn't had much football in the last month. Sub twice now a week off.

Another older player getting dropped - Johncock, Vince, Porplyzia, Callinan. You'd think soon it will be terminal for some/all of these guys.

FFS .....look at the team makeup  .......how many rookies do you want to play .....how about we play all the rookies inc Siggins and dump all the experience

The club has been great in holding 4 rookies ....i was not a fan of Vince being recalled so early but really we needed to add experience to the midfield against what is a highly experienced Carlton midfield
Good post. Glad someone gets it.

Poor move by AFC IMO. If they knew Porps wasn't going to play against the Blues, they surely had to get him back to Westies ASAP, as we need him back in form at AFC. Having him a travelling emergency just delays him finding form.

 I am confused .......if Porps is dropped to regain some match touch after a couple of subs .....then why isn;t he playing reserves rather than having a week off

If correct statement by the club then it means a min 2 weeks out of the side ...one week off (tomorrow, and one game to regain touch) ....not ideal

Or maybe his shoulder needs time off as opposed to the club is incompetent theory.

Stupid player management. We need to get smarter than this.

Then why is he named as an emergency if his shoulder is buggared?

Very hard, bordering on impossible to know who is playing on who from TV.

Even harder to see when a change has been made
Best guide is when they show who lines up on the goal kicker, when the players reset for the centre bounce. On both occasions it was Jaensch.

As noted before, he wasn't in the same postcode when the goals were actually kicked.

Re Porps as travelling emergency: must mean that one of our forwards is in doubt. Danger? Tex?
S**t, I hope not.
Don't read too much into it. They wanted Lyons to keep playing, to maintain his good form. Porps' SANFL team played today, so he doesn't have a game to play on the weekend. On that basis it makes a whole lot of sense to take Porps as the travelling emergency.

Danger?

I don't know that he is the travelling emergency.

It's a fair point. If he was carrying an injury and was in need of a rest he wouldn't be an emergency.
Perhaps we want to limit ourselves to 2 effective emergencies & pay a fine if need be...

Not for Porps it doesn't as he is badly lacking match time to regain touch.

Why not take Johnson, McKernan, Martin or someone who has actually been playing most games?

I got the impression he didn't travel.
Which makes the decision for him not to play for West stranger. If he is fit enough to be an emergency, he fit enough for the Crows. He can't find form not playing.
