Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
We have been trying this lately. Most of our half forwards and backs are getting time through the midfield. Cripps, lecras, hill have all been getting a turn lately. Even saw darling start up the ground a little the other night. It's slowly coming together and I think we're almost there. A decent ruck would obviously make a huge difference to us competing in the middle. Wait till Mitchell is roving nic nats taps. Our only weekness seems to be priddis. He looks like he's lost the ability to affect must inside and that is his only real attribute. Time to start bringing in a few young guysIt's because we're soft we leave ourselves open on a wider ground.
Hawthorn game we allowed a lot of odd man events (2 on 1s, 3 on 2s), and they beat us consistantly when they created those events. Odd man events in any sport come from players being out of position, which is generally a combination of not thinking about where you need to be, and fatigue.
On the former point, the difference in the distance between the centre square and boundary at the MCG and Subi may cause a player to think they are in the right sport (ie just off the square) when they need to be 5m closer to the boundary. That's a coaching issue if the players are using ground markings to determine where they should be in relation to the ball, and a player mentality issue if they just can't get their head around that they need to close down the wing more.
On the latter (which I suspect was more the case), players need to cover a lot more ground laterally at the G to shut down the space, which can lead to mids getting tired if there is a reliance on the same 6 or 7 guys. The Hawks domination in previous years was built around the fact that literally anyone aside from tall defenders could run through the middle at some stage. This meant there was a lot more players available to 'go' when it was their turn, and more opportunity for true mids to 'rest' on the field in forward or back pockets. The doggies last year exhibited this level of versatility down the stretch, basically playing with far fewer traditional talls than any other team. WCE are kidding themselves if they think they are at this level.
What we do have are exceptional talls which are great for a long kicking transition game straight up the guts. Which is why every time we slow our transition by running back from the mark it screws us. But that strength creates a weakness because those same talls (Kennedy, Darling, Naitanui, Lycett, Barrass, McGovern) do not relieve the midfielders on the big wide ground.
Thats pretty sad ;-;Father in law the dean once had Jacks dad front him complaining that Jack was getting bullied. At the time Jack was a foot and a half taller and wider than anyone else in the school.

vardy has been solid enough, mcinnes was ok, but i think both are more capable than, and should be played ahead of petrie
redden is quite disappointing and very frustrating to watch, he rarely adds any value to a play, at best he'll do the average things ok, but is weak under pressure and rather error prone
hilly's defensive pressure was terrific on friday, loved his effort
darling's diving is quite embarrassing and i hate seeing it, get to the contest ffs. coxy had a bad habit of doing the aeroplane arms towards the end of his career also, though not as bad as goodesy.
how about a darling for mcgovern jnr trade at season's end?
This is dangerous talk! That would be approaching journalism if it came from mainstream media. Can't go having that now...So far there are quite a number our expert forum contributors mentioning about the WCE Web/Zone defence. It will be nice if someone starts a new thread about AFL Zone strategies including:
1. What is a zone.
2. How many types (eg. Hawthron rotating zone); who is adopting the type?
3. The pros and cons of these different type.
4. Why the zone defence adopted by Fremantle is relatively independent of ground size?
5. Etc etc.

I was hoping he would do that after the flak he copped for staging in that Heath Scotland tackle a few years back.I hope Jack watched Couch last night and has a bit of a look at himself.
Same, but NOT looking forward to Bruce spraying superlatives around over another Rioliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii especially now Cyrilllllll is out for 10 weeks!Really looking fwd to seeing Rioli in the side in a few weeks.

Oh great a brand new umpire to be overly influenced by the crowd.
In that case she will fit right in with most of the male umps who have no understanding of the game! From what I saw in the NAB cup she didn't seem the type to be influenced by the crowd and was fairly consistent. Her main bad from what I've seen have been from lacking understanding of the game.
That's so horrible to watch. Such a waste of his time and efforts, what the **** actually goes through his mind?
Oddly enough that one doesn't unduly bother me because it's not in play as such and plenty of other players do that off the ball to try milk a free. It isn't great but if that's the only situation his head snaps back I can live with it
This game is a sidelight compared to Willies impending return.
A million goals coming up for East Perth
