I'm feeling pretty confident that we'll get the job done but Essendon's smalls will definitely cause us some headaches. Tippa is the real threat imo - unlike the others, he spends much more time running off a wing or even a half-back flank and can kill teams on the turnover if he gets loose. Wouldn't mind seeing Muts spend some time on him

I like Mutimer but this would be a death sentence. Tank is Kurt's weakest point at present from my viewing. It is probably Tippa's strongest.

I watched Tippa live at Etihad last year vs the Saints. His workrate was higher than Nroo and Tippa has only got better since then.

Yeah fair point, I suppose I was just thinking it would be a good way to build that part of Muts' game. Wouldn't be surprised if we took a risk and brought Crippa straight back in

Quite bemused by those suggesting that Petrie be under consideration if fit, with only McInnes' good performance keeping him out. Petrie should be the last potential ruckman to get a game because he has no runs on the board in that position. McInnes had been rucking well at EP and earned the chance. Petrie has hardly touched the ball in his past 20 odd AFL games, as either a forward or a follower. And he's never shown anything as a back up ruck at the Kangaroos. If any player on the Eagles list needs to earn a game, he's the one.

Petrie's been out about 8 weeks. I know he'd have been doing running etc but he should still have to have a game in the WAFL before being considered for selection.

And in the meantime McInnes should be given another opportunity to show he's the guy to play the backup ruck role.

Then I'd be more inclined to drop him than Mcinness to make way for Petrie once he's had a WAFL game or two to earn his spot

I'm over jacks flopping about, it's just downright embarrassing. He's still best 22 because he can do some good things and can be relied upon for a couple of goals but he needs to elevate his game by being strong at the contest more consistently

With the way the seeming contenders over the opening rounds have all seemingly hit landmines (Crows look like the new invincibles one round, then 0-64 QT v Norf, then 7 goal loss at home to Dees! Cats three losses in a row, Tiges three hilarious losses in a row, GWS lose to Saints), it really seems like it's still anyone's year. I wonder how far the Eagles can go. Obviously need to sort out some of that MCG form...

Going to be interesting coming up against Woosha and the Bombers boys. They've been as up and down as anyone else this year, but their good is pretty good - as the Cats can attest. We're a decent team at Etihad, though, and I'd like to think that we can win this one.
The top 8 are quite even this year. Wininng 16 out of 22 with high percentage probably will get us into the top 2. We should really aiming at the top 2 position, win all the home finals, then worry about the MCG later.

If Cripps is a 100%

Then:

Out: Redden
In: Cripps

This could give us another forward option with Cripps and then Duggan and Mutimer more time in the center with Redden out. If we need to tag i would give Muitmer the challenge and see what he can do. We need to keep playing those two to give us that midfield depth we have not had in a while.

He got a solid hip and shoulder by Redpath there.

He did, but his head did flop back in a second motion... It was a solid bump though.
It's become so natural for JD now.

So disappointing

Very disturbing that he felt the need to throw his head back...again.

Play to the whistle Jack not for the whistle FFS!

The web isn't the whole story as to why we struggle at the G. The issue is our midfield is too slow to implement the web properly at the G because of the wider expanses of the ground. The web relies on the pressure applied upfield by the mids to create "dirty ball" coming into the opposition forwards. That allows our backs to zone off and get across to spoil. The times we get cut up is when there's no pressure on the ball carrier upfield, which allows teams like Hawthorn to deliver the ball quickly to forwards with no pressure. The Hawks midfield isnt the quickest either, but their ball use is one of the best so they tear us up on the G. If we had a bit more pace in the guts, the web would work much better at the G.

Changes:

Out: Priddis, Redden
In: Cripps, Nelson

Like your reasonsing. However, why slow midfield is not a problem at other grounds?

On AFL.com, the Access All Areas highlighted this and the comment was "one Jack is tougher than the other Jack".

Shits me his lack of commitment to the physical contest and then seeing him try to mil a free kick. He is better than that. And before I get accused of being a Jack hater, I am Jack fan however I want him to become great not just good.

Pity neither of your ins are available for selection.

Liking the way our injury list is diminishing and seeing the form from East Perth.

Looking at stats, our forwards all kicked goals.
Our ruckmen got plenty of hitouts,
They all tackled
Our mids going plenty of the ball.

Add to the above Lord Nelson, Cripps and Petrie and the competition for spots is looking good.

That said:
I expect "no changes" unless injury related.
I would personally like to drop Butler for Nelson and Masten for Cripps given it is Etihad.

The emergency will be interesting. I would not want to take one of the returners to Melbourne just to sit on the bench.
