Based on past selections, think it will be

Cripps for Mutimer
Nelson for Butler
Petrie for Hill or FMac
Do you think we'll bring all 3 in?

I'd be surprised if we did that.

I reckon Nelson in will be it, maybe Cripps for Butler/Muts

Think you nailed it. The fact they're all on the interchange suggests to me that they're not necessarily fit. Considering Crippa's injury was originally touted as an 8-weeker my guess is that they think he'll be fit come Sunday but are giving him until then to prove his fitness. Nelson and Petrie having hand injuries you'd think they'd be OK but I doubt the MC will bring Petrie in just yet.

Gotta give the dish some credit though, we've gone from 'don't touch him with a barge pole' to 'maybe after we give Frase a couple more weeks' in the space of 6 months or so.

I think Petrie is named because Vardy has been playing sore with his elbow. If he comes in (which i doubt), I think it would be at Vardy's expense and not McInnes.

If Vardy's in doubt then surely Giles would have been in the 25.

As much as I liked McInnes' game as backup ruck on the weekend I'd be extremely nervous going in with a ruck duo of McInnes and an underdone Petrie.

Yes always (sort of).

Unless they are out via a late change on Sunday, the 18 on the field are guaranteed to play.

Just to prove this point, North Melbourne have shifted around their named 25-man side this morning, putting four players on the field and shifting four to the extended bench so they can cut three of them this arvo.

Interesting. I hadn't heard of that before.

So yeah I suppose there are a few ways that someone from the 18 can come out:
- the way you mentioned
- being removed from the 25 completely on a Friday
- being removed from the 22 on the weekend
- late change 90 mins before the game.

I suppose my point is that this happens, but it's the exception. Odds are that Butler and McInnes play as they are in the 18.

Said it in the podcast but I think Cripps will come in for Mutimer

Mutimer will travel as the 23rd whilst Petrie and Nelson stay home to play for EP

Yeah I think I agree with that. Alternative is that Redden comes out for Nelson, and either Redden or Mutimer stay behind with the other traveling, but I think that leaves us with one defender too many.

I think Giles is really out of favour with the match committee after his mediocre performances this year. If he wasn't signed on next year he would probably be delisted come the end of the season.

From those tweets I'm feeling that Petrie and Nelson play for East Perth and Cripps comes in, probably for Mutimer.
My thoughts too but then this.....

Has me thinking Petrie might play

I am all for guys in the back half of the 22 having a run at EP before coming back into the league side. It just keeps building that performance pressure on the whole group. The players in the side have a chance to play well and retain their spot and the returning players know they have to show they deserve the recall.

Surely we will be too tall if we go in with Kennedy, Vardy, McInnes, Gov, Barrass, Darling and Petrie.

You are probably right on further reflection. Can't fathom why Petrie is named then, given how long he has been out. I get he may be the better option going forward, but surely he needs a hit out or two in the WAFL first. If he isn't covering for someone, then why name him? Which gets us back to replacing McInnes... It's a riddle, wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma...
