I'm rapt for Mutimer that he kept his spot, but I'm shocked that Hill is out really. He is not one that gets injured or sore, so will assume its dropped.

I think its tough on Hill because before last week he was kicking goals. As a forward you are always going to have the odd quiet game where things dont go your way. His pressure acts at least showed he was trying. The good thing is our depth seems to have gotten to a point that if you play 1 average game you're out or on notice. The pressure is on these guys to perform.

Perhaps thats the idea

That was my thoughts also.

It's probably ironic with hill that the one week he doesn't kick a couple of cheapies but puts in a fair bit of pressure off the ball he gets dropped.

I am a fan of his - I think he is often maligned, but I think it puts everyone on notice. Which is good.

Yeah I have to admit I'm surprised. Thought he'd be ahead of both Mutimer and Redden.
I think Redden is doing what is asked of him.

But yep Mutimer keeping his spot is a pleasant surprise

I'd put Karps in on the hbf before Cole.

Hill's pressure acts are overrated IMO. Lot's of 'almost' chases. It's better than no effort at all, but his defensive game isn't really that valuable. He's in the side as a goal kicker and statistically he hasn't really delivered, although I do feel he is still a little unlucky to miss.

What I like about this move is that it's uncharacteristic of our MC - a ballsy decision to drop an incumbent forward in order to develop a promising youngster.

Cripps plays very differently to Hill who is the closest we have to a crumbing forward. Our top 5 goal scorers this year are JK (27), Lecras (17), Darling (15), Hill (12) and Cripps (9 after missing 3 games), after this it drops away with Shuey in the 6th place with 5 goals. We would have been better off with both Cripps and Hill in the forward line becuase when Kennedy has stinker our scoring drops to Fremantle levels. Percentage may play a very big role this year and we are not flat tracking as we used to.
Did Mutimer (a midfielder playing as a forward) played much in the midfield in the last 3 weeks? If not, dropping a forward who kicked 7 goals in the past 4 games makes little sense. Happy with what Mutimer has shown so far - we should play him in the midfield. Anyway, this is a very winnable game so hope this works out OK.
