What's the bet that the same people who have been calling for Pav to retire because he's old and shit will now accuse us of tanking by not selecting him.

If they were smart, obviously not, they should know that Sandi and Pav would probably not be making the long trips this year (Tassie/Bris etc.) unless forced to or we are undermanned.

Now that the season is basically over it's even more worthless wasting Pav on long trips.

Can see De Boer coming in for Hannath if it's too tall.
Really dreading this forward line:
D. Pearce, Taberner, Ballantyne
Barlow, Mayne, Walters

It was only last week that we finally had a dominant forward line for once. Stuff 2016.

Am I missing something?

I assumed the ins were like for like replacements for Griffin, Pav and Apeness - that is to say; 2 Forwards and a ruck.

I imagine Clarke will do the bulk of the ruck work and Dawson, Spurr, Collins, Crozier, Tucker and Sutcliffe would take the back.

Probably better to be sitting in the rain than be on here modding should we get smashed though.
At least the rain will hide the tears.

So Uebergang is the only tall on our list not to play a game this year.
He'd be our last uninjured tall not to play a game

Nice to see Tucker get another go, I was a bit annoyed he was dropped after one game, kids need to string a few games together.

problem was the timing of his first game, he'd only had 1 run in the wafl and 2 games held as the emergency (one of those was the wafl bye too if i remember correctly). So when he finally came in, he'd not played in 3 weeks. the selection comity clearly wanted to reward him for his preseason and nab game but the 2 weekends without a game was a real detriment to his debut game, which wasn't worthy of a continued spot. He went back into the wafl, built up some match fitness, got recalled, played well in a winning team and probably (hopefully) will play the rest of the year out in the Afl.

Not only the 'only tall', but one of only a handful who have been legitimately available, but not played yet. By my rough count, the only players who could have but haven't had a game yet:

- Ueber (looking good, but supper raw)
- Deluca (a fair way from it you'd think)
- Nyhuis (looks good, but young and you'd think a bit off being really ready for AFL ... oh yeah, and currently injured.)

You could make a case that Silvagni was available at one point, but even he's been injured when a real opportunity was there.

And that's it, every other player has either been unavailable or in such a place of recovery that they are not really available (e.g. Mora).

TL;DR -
So half way through the season (and with Hannath and Smith playing this weekend), we have at some point played everybody who we'd realistically want to put out on an AFL field.

It's a bit of a relief for me that uebergang isn't playing this weekend against the lions. While it would've been really convenient to see him debut at the gabba I think I would have looked like a tool barracking for the lions while wearing a fremantle guernsey to support matt. :straining: Think it'll be a good game, good luck.

We have 3 on the Long term in jury list, so it is possible :) I wonder how long it takes to get the paperwork done??
I thought (but don't hold me to it) the paperwork has to be to the AFL by 2pm on Thursday as the player being elevated had to have the clearance by the time the team is named on that day. I also believe that the club has to declare they have salary cap space to elevate the rookie to main list salary level. The collective bargaining agreement AFL Players Assoc & AFL found on the Players Assoc website from my last read of it I believe covers the financial clearance requirement.

They've changed that rule a while back because of that time we breached the salary cap upgrading rookies.
If the rookie is replacing someone on the LTI, those payments aren't included in the salary cap. If we keep the rookie on the main list once the LTI player is back on the main list (we can do this because our main list is short of the max players), then payments after the LTI player is back on the main list must be included in the salary cap.

Smith and Hannath - wet weather specialists aren't they ;) Think they are still leaving the door open for late changes having them both named on the bench.
You can use the emergency to replace anyone of the 22 and sitting players likely to be changed and putting them on the bench isn't a requurement. Tendai DeBoer and Grey are the emergencies. BTW from one of your other posts "Run with role) is not a new term as it has been used for the last decade at least.:thumbsu:

Thanks Allikat for the correction and enjoy the Brizzy trip.:thumbsu:

Yeah I know. It's just more likely that players listed on the interchange are late changes from what I have seen. Not that we've had many/any late changes anyway and I still doubt we will this time either but we are a bit top heavy imo. My previous reference to "run with role" was more a dig at the commentators that had to try very hard not to use the word "tagger". "Taggers" aren't used anymore but apparently a "run with role" is ;)

Nice to see Tanner get a game and for Ross to take the time out to call his family.

It appears that Tanner was to immature to take his opportunities in the first few years and it has taken until this year for Tanner to show the required work ethic. He actually deserves this game even considering the injury list - go Tanner.
