How long are we meant to wait for brad crouch to play some decent footy? Wasn't he meant to be a superstar?

Matt crouch has been by far the more reliable contributor to our footy club. I have never understood the hard ons for brad.

Drop him, bring in Thompson . Yeah an unpopular opinion here, but we could use him in the contest. No reason he can't be given an opportunity to contribute to the team. If he doesn't he gets dropped. Plenty of other players failing to contribute as well.

Brown is soft as butter. Hartigan is barely a footballer.

Out: brown, crouch, Hartigan.

In: thommo and the rest they can figure out.

Or his pace is needed up forward, firstly to accommodate Otten replacing McGovern and then to accommodate JJ as he works his way back into form in the 1's instead of the 2's. The run he did last week suggested his explosiveness is still there, I think that there's still a fair chance that he's been re-deployed because the selectors couldn't bring themselves to replace Otto or have JJ get back up to speed in the 2's.
I hope we are not that stupid!

Why wouldn't you consider Hampton for Mackay's role. He's an actually fast player, he doesn't appear lazy in terms of 2 way running (not saying Mackay is for the record), his disposal is ok, certainly on par or better than Dmac and when it's time to go into a contest or lay a tackle when a player has some steam up, he won't be completely brushed aside. I'd be pretty pissed off if we rule a line through Hampton based on him only being an inside player and then considered whether or how we replace Mackay with someone categorised as 'outside'. Pissed off, but obviously not surprised, because it would be so AFC. Only genuine plodders like Reilly, VB and Mackay are afforded the opportunity to find form in every position on the field. Young talent get pigeon-holed and either make it or don't with opportunity in only that role.
Agree I think on the back of some poor performance as an inside mid people have written him off. I actually think his position is the wing or half back.

I edited it

Our main problem is lack of body strength and willingness to use it

Thommo in is short term. Long term, guys like Milera need to learn to use their body.

Last year Thommo's body strength was all but worthless as he had no acceleration from his standing start at the stoppage and opposition players just waltzed away from him. Watch a few stoppages from the back 2/3's of the year, all you'll see is Thommo making contact with his opponent as the ball is about to be thrown up, followed by Thommo doing nothing else if the ball isn't directed down to him by Sauce. If Thommo is right to go and return to the form he showed in the first 6 games where he averaged 29.5 touches, then he'll be racking up 35 in the SANFL. And let's not kid ourselves, Thommo's entire output is measure by his touches, he brings absolutely nothing else to the table. His tackles are all from the stoppage where the ball drops straight down and Sauce could just as easily pick up the stat.

This sounds highly likely.

Hi All,

Looking to get to a training session this week to grab a couple of signatures on a guernsey as a gift for my best mate's 30th. Does anyone know when the next open session is going to be?

Apologies if this information is posted elsewhere, I've not been able to find it and the club's website isn't particularly helpful either. I'm hoping someone in the know can give me some inside info.

Very left field but I like it!

Prob more realistic once Cheney returns as we need a tallish intercepter and organiser in defence at all times but yeah I'd like to see some cameo's in there! Not only is Lever tough as nails, his work in tight spaces and his evasion skills for a big man are elite. I also think his foot skills could be damaging, it's just he rightly doesn't risk it as much from deep in defence.

There's a lot to like about it ... have Lever, Sloane, Greenwood/B Crouch/M Crouch at a couple centre bounces, see what happens. Feels like a high school science experiment.

Love a lot of this but the final selections leave us too tall again, we don't need to make our dinosaur forward line any slower.

You're comments on Mackay, Hampton and Kelly all spot on imo. Get Hampton onto the wing/flank rotations and actually use him!
Fair call but Jenkins problem isn't pace, he's quick and Otten makes up for a lack of pace with his ability to read the game. Lever is agile and enough to take Kelly's spot, we don't lose any pace there. Hartigan's the most vulnerable tall in my eyes. In terrible form.

Yeah I tend to agree. He is done.

Mackey Menzel out

Knight and Greenwood in.

Tempted to have Thommo in for Milera. However that is going backwards and not addressing the main problem at hand for the future.

The biggest IN needs to be a change in attitude and start helping each other out and being more physical. Nice Football wont win the flag

It is nice to be there for the receive to move the ball forward quickly. But shepherding and creating blocks to protect each other is important too.

Exactly what Roo has been saying. Time to harden the **** up.

Teams are slowing us down sure, but they are burning is on the counter attack as we get sucked into that congestion.

Thommo isn't making that better I'm any way.

Yes, Thommo signals that we have retreated, given-up in a sense and have no answers.

When everyone is considering who to bring into the team the comments usually focus on skill, kicking, speed etc etc. All good stuff. Many will mention desire, aggression again all good stuff.

In our desire to address the issue of speed we have added players that have the speed but now we have too many players that are too light in their bodies. Its fine to have some fleet footed light weighted players but not too many.

During the game against Melbourne I got a bit pissed off at some of their players for the way they were man handling our guys and that the umps ignored it. But after the game I was thinking that we need the type of aggression that players like Viney, Vince, Jones and Hunt bring. Then there was Petracca and Oliver. All were very aggressive but without crossing the line.

Our fast but light weighted players don't seem to be that aggressive perhaps because their size doesn't give them the confidence. Yes CC can be aggressive and so can Tex....well we expect that of Tex given he is our leader but there are not too many others.

When picking the team this week I hope that a little more thought is given to addressing these two areas of our short comings.

Yep. It wasn't so much their aggression towards us, but more that they were 'physical packages' compared to our guys. :(

Drop everyone that has a bad game and sounds like you'll be happy.
Deals off then? Thommos back in!

But seriously they have had more than a bad game lol. Hartigan is barely a footballer. He can punch. Sometimes. That's it. He brings absolutely nothing to the table in terms of ability.

Under any pressure in big games brown is found out. Again and again. Not a once off.

Brad crouch is a more controversial one. And I can concede he hasn't been our worst. But he's not doing enough either.

Anybody else isn't an answer.

How long for Brad?.....about the same span of time as has been afforded Mackay.

Crouch still got it 26 times from 66% TOG, Thommo's last 2/3's of the year he averaged 20.5 from 80%. If you watched last year, you'd have noticed that Thommo's disposal was equally as rushed as Brad's and often put players under as much pressure as he was imself under. The difference, apart from the extra touches, is that Brad has an opportunity to improve his disposal with increased composure when he regains confidence in his speed. Thommo is presently worse than that, hence his shit numbers in the 2's, plus he is on a sharp decline. The idea that he could improve us by replacing any player in Saturday's 22 is sheer fantasy.

I'm not in the know enough. I can just tell you who I would drop from what I have seen. I have faith in the match committee finding suitable replacements. Not that I have the power to drop them anyway.

Wing or half back with a hunger for the contest, could be a weapon. But it's more likely he'll go back to the 2's in a pure inside role and keep working on that.
