Out: Campoarele, Clarke
In: Contested mid coach that actually played a minute of contested footy himself. And what is the point of a ruck coach if your ruckman gets 74 hitouts and yet you get smashed like in no other game I can recall around the ball ups.

Because Otten is too slow to play AFL football
I don't really get all the calls for Otten's head personally.

Yes he's slow, but what did Jenkins or Hartigan do with their speed tonight? sfa.

Jenkins was invisible up forward and Hartigan was getting killed in every 1v1 contest he faced.

Otten on the other hand managed to win just about every 1v1 contest in the air as a defender (outside of the FA) and then when pushed forward, managed to have 2 shots on goal in a quarter along with the non mark/drop - basically gave us a strong option 3 times in the space of 5 minutes as a forward. He is a far better target over Jenkins going forward or just a bailout target in general. Sure Jenkins looks great when we've got flow/winning anyways, but as soon as teams flood our backline we need some guys that can take a pack mark and it's something our forwardline is severely lacking without McGovern.

I feel he adds just as little as Jenkins in the ruck contest itself but is far more active around the ground - actually shows up in play.

As a defender tonight I thought he did fine every time it came in the air - lead the team with 11 1%ers tonight which I dare say gives an idea for the amount of spoils he had (Talia with 9, Kelly with 6 1%ers). We saw him getting outran 1-2 times by a far smaller opponent but neither were his man to begin with so I think it's harsh to hold that against him - something I doubt Lever stops either for that matter given he's quite slow also.

By far from a lock in the 22 but he's outperforming others that he's basically playing in the same position as so if we want to drop those that aren't preforming and send a message then I think there are others that go before him. Once Lever and McGovern are up and running then I could understand the reason to drop him but I think he's doing more than others in a similar position at the moment.

On an unrelated note, anyone seem to recall talk during the week that we'd be far more prepared should Sloane cop a tag? How good were all the shepards he was receiving from his team mates? Or how his team mates were getting physical with the ones that were giving Sloane treatment? Or how about just making sure they all bump into the man tagging him?

Oh wait...

Otten on the other hand managed to win just about every 1v1 contest in the air as a defender (outside of the FA) and then when pushed forward,

That's the thing. He's good 1v1 in the air as a defender. But that's it. He is a liability in any other defensive situation. He's not an intercept marker, so he can't really support our other defenders in the way you'd want a third tall to perform. And he can't play on anyone but a tall slow forward.

Sure, as a forward he took a few nice marks when the game was done. But he's even worse than Jenkins at applying defensive pressure in our forward line, and that's saying something. He is a marking target and that's it. Jenkins, when he's playing to a decent standard, isn't much of a marker but provides targets in other ways such as leading, outrunning, Joe the Goose, etc. Otten as a forward didn't do shit against North

Would Jenkins be getting a game if McGovern was fit? I'd like to think not

One thing that frustrates me to no end is that Jenkins is 6 foot 6 and is a massive unit, he should be crashing the packs and using his size against the defense.

The problem that I can see is that as a basketball player your instinct is to avoid contact and find space and Jenkins appears to not be able to let go of that instinct. To me he still plays like a basketball convert rather than a footballer.

He is quick and has a decent leap, if that was me I would ****ing be jumping up some backs, hip and shouldering and using my size to put the hurt physically on the opposition. The sad reality unfortunately is that he's as soft as David Mookay.

In all seriousness, i think this is the week Pyke finally bites the bullet and rewards form.

In: Lever
Out: Milera
Really? You are going to drop the 12 game outside mid who got 20 possessions and leave Hampton the inside mid with 15 and Mackay the senior campaigner with 12 stay????????????

Hampton has had enough chances.

This is what happens when you don't change a side because we are winning besides guys playing poorlyx

Hampton is worrying me, this is his 6th year in the AFL system and has given us very little this year.

I have seen enough to know that he's not a natural midfielder. If anything he's a running half back, the problem for Hampton is that we already have a huge surplus of those. He actually reminds me a bit of CEY, but that's not necessary a good thing.

And we gave up a second rounder when GWS have got rid of the rest of their scraps for a bag of chips.

Last year our first and second would have got Gibbs.

It should have given us Gibbs, but honestly I don't believe it would have. SOS played chicken with the AFC at the trade table in the expectation that we would cave in at the 11th hour.

There was no way was he going to accept a first and second rounder because he believed that if he waited long enough that two firsts would eventually come from us.

Out: Old 'Neil Craig mediocre era' players, we never accomplished anything with David MacKay and Andy Otten type players in our team and never will in the present day if they stay in the team. Otten is a victim of circumstances.

Out: Playing injured players, Charlie Cameron's groin is knackered :$

Out: Playing players in wrong positions, I know Don 'Neil Craig lite' Pyke is 'Mr Flexiblity' (everywhere except in the coaches box it seems) but Curtly Hampton is not a AFL standard midfielder.

In: Lever, Knight and Fresh blood is desperately needed, 2 of (Greenwood, Beech, Wigg, Gallucci, Poholke)

Very Lucky: B. Crouch, J.Kelly

Spared this week: All Forwards, they were at the receiving end of a massive pile of steaming hot garbage, this doesn't excuse all their weak 'only on my terms' efforts though

We won't make a statement at selection. Forced changes only, except Menzel as last in will be dropped if either of Knight or Lever is right to go.

What I'd like to happen;

Out
Lynch - Fluffing too much easy shit, if dropping a senior player type statement will help, he's in the leadership group, he'll do.
Otten - Good depth, but he's not a starter in a side who wants to perform at a top 4 level and if Lever returns, it's pretty obvious that we need a bit more run and resources around the contest.
Mackay - 12 touches from 76% TOG in a midfield role going at 58% effective. Just brushed aside too often and after 160 games, we know that's exactly what we get if we're not smoking teams. If only we had Brisbane at home this week, there'd be a good reason to see if we could run him back into form.

In
Greenwood - FFS, give the guy a go, he's exactly what we seem to be lacking, we've given Hampton 7 games in there, he can't be much worse.
Knight - If fit, had a shocker last week amongst many other shockers, but can play and was good before his week off. If not fit, give Galucci a go.
Lever - If fit, otherwise Otten stays to play in the back half.

On the edge
JJ - I'd be just as happy with Otten going forward and JJ heading to the 2's
Hampton - Only gets a reprieve to see how he goes in Mackay's role, if he's not an improvement on Dmac then he can be added to our depth list.

Sauce need to start tapping to players other than Sloane.

Ridiculously predictable and basically ruins any chance of a centre clearance if Sloane being tagged.
It's funny, he was absolutely outstanding in the first 6 games, then all of a sudden he's tapping straight down oppositions throats? Sloane wasn't the only one getting clearances in those six games, was he? Reckon give the big fella a rest and give ROB a run.

Jenkins selection from 4 weeks off which includes the week he got injured was simply the wrong decision

He has played three absolute shockers since being granted a gold pass and not going through the twos after all we didn't need height

For posters not to say he is the very first to be dropped is just a gold pass mentality and an absolute joke

Adding on to this, all of Walker, Lynch and Jenkins need to be given an absolute kick up the ass. Our forward line just isn't working well at the moment.

If JJ isn't the first to go I will be amazed the last 3 weeks have been deplorable watching him, he was out 4 games prior so that goes without saying

Are we sitting here with our finger crossed hoping he turns it around

Out: Cameron

Bring him back in when he tears an SANFL game apart. Also teach him how to bounce the fking footy and kick a set shot.

His terrible bouncing technique neuters his speed and he's worse than Casboult in front of the sticks.
