Crouch * 2 out

No, just the wildly underperforming Brad. Now watch as he pumps all your tyres up again beating up on Brisbane and Fremantle in successive weeks, before disappearing in a puff of low effort smoke at the Cattery, and the cycle begins anew. Sunk cost fallacy personified.

Just caught up with the big news.

Read the first paragraph of the AFC article, saw Thor and Gooch were in, and let out an internal "**** yeah!"

Basked in sunshine and rainbows for a minute then it dawned on me to check the outs...

OHMIGOD THEY DROPPED JJ AND MACKAY!!!
Let out an actual maniacal laugh on the bus. Don't give a shit that heads turned.

:rainbow:

Who would come in for Brad?

I agree he has been underperforming but do we have a replacement.

Ought to have been Greenwood in for Brad, he's played inside-out in the SANFL, has an order of magnitude higher work rate and desire, and has a much stronger body, good chance to see what he could do while Brad thought about his future. Then Galluci in for Hampton, and Lever for Menzel the obvious forced change.

I love the changes this week. It shows Pyke isn't one for gold cards if the team isn't performing. To make a statement like this after just 2 poor games suggests he will back in the depth to force the 'best 22' to perform at the desired level. Some tough decisions were made at selection when it could have been easy to give JJ another week and bring Thommo and Lever in. To bring in two new players in Greenwood and Gallucci shows balls and he isn't holding back.

Bottom line, this club just showed for the first time in a long time that they aren't going F%^k around and accept 2nd best. 1 bad week is an aberration, 2 bad weeks like a lot of supporters pointed out is a trend, an all too familiar one. The players need to react or they too could find themselves dropped for Poholke, Beech etc.

Let's not understate this...THIS IS HUGE!

My faith in Pyke has now reached a whopping 110%.

Team Balance is greater than the individual. :thumbsu:

Has dropped a tall for a running player :thumbsu: , guess you didn't know the gameplan as well as you thought marty36 :p

Has backed in the future (organic growth) and refused to recall Thommo :thumbsu: although I'm sure Campo was agitating for the return of leg arms.

Has dropped a perennially underperforming senior player (Mackay) even though Mackay and Milera have had similar output so far this season...Milera is pure gold waiting to reach his full potential, Mackay is pure...Mackay :thumbsu:

Great selection Pyke

PS...we are still one tall too many, but we are getting a better team balance with this selection

I've got no problem with the selections, but that's only the first step in judging things. Your faith in Pyke should wait until we can judge his performance at preparing the players, mentally, for the match. So, possibly at the end of the first quarter.

Stoked that the trigger has been pulled on Mackay and Jenkins. Their performances have been completely unacceptable. Not stoked to see Hampton retained, but like the song says "2 out of 3 ain't bad".

It's great to see Greenwood get a gig too. Given Knight was unavailable, Gallucci is the logical Mackay replacement too so that's also nice to see. Lever in was the most obvious change of the season.

Interestingly, we've brought in another inside mid option in Greenwood, but none have gone out. That tells me that one of Greenwood or Hampton is going to play predominantly at half forward. Will be interested to see how that plays out. If Hampton has another shocker he's out, regardless of where he's played. I would play Hampton forward and tell him to chase and tackle everything in his path. We have sorely lacked forward pressure in the last fortnight, with none of Otten, Walker or Jenkins offering anything in that regard.

Gallucci is probably just getting a 1 week taste you'd think, unless he completely tears it up (which seems extremely unlikely). Knight to come in against Freo possibly, with Beech and Wigg on standby also. Hopefully Jenkins is given at least 2 weeks in the reserves to sort his shit out. Hopefully Mackay is gone for good.

I could have handled a few more swings of the axe but I'll take what I can get.

can hardly believe it though lol.

Can't drop them all at once. Hampton, Milera and a few other under performing players provide massive x factor when up and going. Another poor game though and I suspect those players could be out for Knight, Menzel and Jenkins. Lets face it though, JJ wont spend more than one week in the SANFL. He is a gun player when up and going. Perhaps just let the team down too often in some KPIs.

Tredrea just agreed with me re: Jenkins being a bizarre out when the midfield is the key issue, some solace in that
Well that seals it.

You're wrong :)

Midfield was a problem, but forward half pressure was the main problem.

We were too tall and lacked forward half pressure, Jenkins and Tex were the worst offenders and you're not going to drop the captain.

Great selection decision.

I agree Brad has been underperforming but think we should give him 3-5 more games to find touch - if he is still playing poorly back to SANFL. I mean we gave Mackay 150 games to find touch and Brad at least has some talent.
