NTrabbit, I seriously doubt you have ever played this sport, or any sport for that matter.
I dont care how out of form the Crouch boys are, they give a crack every game.
You are a Dreamteam warrior who thinks teams are built on star trades and big names in certain positions. You are clueless.

Teams are built on an even spread of effort and willingness to get hurt for the cause.
The Crouch boys bring this in spades even when they are out of form.

Except this is inarguably, demonstrably untrue about Brad. He does not give a crack in every game, he does not bring a willingness to work hard, and it has becoming a huge problem. Anyone who still can't see and accept this has their head buried beneath the Gobi desert.

Hit the nail on the head here, I might be bias considering the closeness I've followed Harrison's footballing career but if you want the blueprint of how to not turn a young draftee into an AFL standard player follow the steps the football club have taken with Harrison's development whether that be with his playing style, continuity, physical build or the mixed messages he has gotten from the coaching group.

I posted on this late last year; horribly handled.

The time will come when the opposition turn on the pressure against us.

We need players that will respond by rising to the occasion and then returning serve with interest.

Dmac out and Greenwood in is the beginning of this.

There is much work to be done still though

And Harrison Wigg's stats??

His first six weeks were impressive. Very average last two games. Up to him now whether he has a future.
Think he was acceptable last week. He stopped his man in the air every time, saw a little bit of time in the forward line in the final quarter and managed 2 shots on goal (should have been 3 with the dropped/non paid mark).

More than acceptable for his position but obviously some aren't so hot on him and have been calling for his head for a little while, irregardless of his actual performances.

Pardon the intrusion

But the midfield got caned the last 2 games, every key back and forward has looked average the last 2 weeks

Otten has been very impressive imo

I think its a huge positive that a previous "untouchable" in Jenkins was dropped ahead of him

I'd also prefer to see Hartigan dropped ahead of Otten on current form

Has looked about as dependable as a David Mackay tackle in all bar the Port game by my eye
Thank you, couldn't agree more!

He's in a state shock at the omission of Mackay.....apparently with Sloane getting tagged, mackay is an obvious choice as an experienced type player to step into the midfield and lend a helping hand
It's the same as the media pushing Thommo to be included all the time. It's not born from knowledge, but just looking at stats. "Oh, Mackay has played 170 games, he should be able to step up to help Sloane" and "Oh, Thommo has played 300 games and nearly every game last year, he must be due to get back into the 22 soon."

Ottens greatest asset remains his ability to read the play and read the ball in the air.

He picks up the flight of the ball better and quicker than most players. This is actually what allows him to compete in ruck.

He's greatest weakness is he's speed and agility.

For these reasons I believe the only position he has a future in, in as a forward and relieving ruckman.

He simply knows where to run as a forward and knows exactly when to lead. He's a very good contested mark and uses his body really well when positioning. Just a smart footballer.

This makes things tricky as this is exactly the role that JJ has been playing, although both players play this role very differently.

Right now, in a fast break situation, I'd much rather Jenkins, where as in normal play, I'd probably go for Otten.

In a perfect world where Jenkins recaptures he's form from last year, I'd go JJ.

Otten deserves his spot in the side in front of JJ, however I don't want to see him play in defence. At least playing in the forward line allows him to use his smarts as a weapon.

I see your point, but on the other hand nothing positive about 5 years to someone who you just... dropped

The positive is that it sends a message to the team that regardless of status form is King

Bevo dropped Strunger last year, Caleb Daniel earlier in the year and Libba this week so with this in mind I for one welcome selection tension across the entire playing list

Like Lever, Greenwood has a winners mentality.

He doesn't want to just "give it a crack" he wants to farkin win.

We need more of that in the team.

I would like to see Greenwood play a few AFL games before agreeing with you

Yes he presents well and based on his sanfl form he is worthy of AFL selection however I will pause on further assessment about his winning attitude until he has had a decent crack against the big boys

Worst case scenario we stink this week and Mackay straight back in

It's happened before

Gotta feeling it's different this time

For DMac to come straight back in it probably means Milera or Gallucci comes out and with this in mind I can't see Gallucci dropping out just after one week

Hopefully Knight is good to go next week and I would have him back before DMac

So does this mean Gallucci has a gold ticket ??

No, he is a line breaker (Mackay's thing apparently) and our highest selection last year and like Milera last year, needs to get a game. Just happens we're playing the bottom team. I doubt this would have happened if we were facing Geelong this weekend. I don't think everyone should get too excited just yet.

That's a big step up from last season for TMT.
The Gooch has only played 4 not exactly busting down the doors but he's not exactly replacing anyone special.
So even with a dozen disposals were not losing much but potentially improving the team.
