I would like to see Greenwood play a few AFL games before agreeing with you

Yes he presents well and based on his sanfl form he is worthy of AFL selection however I will pause on further assessment about his winning attitude until he has had a decent crack against the big boys
He has a winners attitude and professional approach to preparation. He is probably one of the most professional player on our list in regards to preparation. .

Now we see if he is good enough to play with the big boys.

The positive is that it sends a message to the team that regardless of status form is King

Bevo dropped Strunger last year, Caleb Daniel earlier in the year and Libba this week so with this in mind I for one welcome selection tension across the entire playing list
Didn't Macrae get dropped at some point, too?

Cmon people.. jenkins is out of form ... no one complaining last year when he had a good run. He'll be back.

Good selections this week... hope greenwood becomes a star.

Plenty of people were complaining last year. Even when he was in form he didn't do a lot of the team things he should have been doing.

Those who think this is an event will be massively disappointed in a few weeks time

If the players in the team perform there won't be any disappointment, if Mackay comes out and gets 25 possessions and JJ 5 goals and we see otten or lynch fail or Galluci or Hampton fail then I have no problem bringing either player in

I don't care who it is they have dropped players because of form they must and will continue to make the same tough calls if we are any chance at a flag

Beveridge did it last year with a couple of big names it's a ballsy call but no favourites, like the BF board can be

Called it at the start of the year form is the biggest factor

1970crow, well well well, I'm guessing you won't need the blue pill tonight

It would be impossible to be unhappy with those changes. JJ should have been forced to prove his confidence in his body in the 2's. I don't see Otten as anything other than superb depth, but they've made the right call there. Plus 2 debutants alongside a forced change, wow effing wee, it's so un-us. Noble will be sitting up in Brisbane wondering if the loonies are running the asylum.

Unless Dangerfield and Selwood share 5 Brownlow votes between them it's hard to see the Cats getting up.

They may well do this though.
Think everyone is being seduced by form which is fair enough

But we've fallen for this before - cats at Pussy Park is the toughest road trip in football and is never tip against them
their with confidence

Unfortunately probably true.
I guess if a kick in the arse works and we get an attitude adjustment and we get form back and winning. It would have been for something.

Like Lever, Greenwood has a winners mentality.

He doesn't want to just "give it a crack" he wants to farkin win.

We need more of that in the team.

From games I've seen Greenwood play, he definitely has that want to win that you simply can't teach. Players either have it or they don't and it doesn't seem to correlate with skill level either. I've seen very skilled players without it and battlers with it.

Kelly and Sloane, for example, both have it in spades, giving their all, no matter the game situation. I'm not sure we have too many players that are the other extreme. The Motlops all generally seem like poster children for those that don't have it. So very skilled, yet just don't have the desire sometimes when things get hard.

Except this is inarguably, demonstrably untrue about Brad. He does not give a crack in every game, he does not bring a willingness to work hard, and it has becoming a huge problem. Anyone who still can't see and accept this has their head buried beneath the Gobi desert.

Have you given up on dropping Matt now?

Also, they have been put under the pump all week about their first 3x losing streak in over a decade with poor tackling efforts, so I expect them to come out firing with the opening of their new stand.

Every week Dermott makes a comment about the AFC that proves he has absolutely no idea about this club or the players who play for it, and once again he does not disappoint

It's disappointing when Dermie does that as. There are a number of times I've listened to him commentate and he's shown really good analytic and strategic insight into positioning, how players need to adjust what they are doing to counter the opposition's tactics, etc.

Then there are other times where he makes comments that show he hasn't been watching a particular player or club play much, or he just talks about lowbrow "boy's club" type stuff that you'd expect to hear on the Footy Show.

Are those analytical comments off the cuff? I'm thinking he's fed those ones.

Bye bye Harrison, nice knowing you, pity we never got to see if you were AFL standard or not.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Galluci pushing ahead of Wigg, who burnt his chance during the JLT. Galucci showed enormous promise and for once we've finally chosen a player with the higher upside ahead of the near certain of a 4.5/10 result from a player who deserves it more based on time served. I don't see an issue if Wigg is seen as depth, as long as he gets a game ahead of Thommo when the need arises, there's no problem whatsoever. God I hope Hampton is heading to the outside, we're heading towards our best 22.

No, he is a line breaker (Mackay's thing apparently) and our highest selection last year and like Milera last year, needs to get a game. Just happens we're playing the bottom team. I doubt this would have happened if we were facing Geelong this weekend. I don't think everyone should get too excited just yet.
Why is Mackay a big game player?

I don't think so. I remember being really surprised the first time I heard him make a comment with some strategic insight because I honestly didn't think he had that ability in him. So, since then, I've paid more attention to what he's saying when he commentates and found he's much better as a special comments man who doesn't have to follow the immediate play, but can instead look at what is happening over the whole ground and make comments about that. However, he still gets drawn into the "boys club" conversations and goes back to meathead mode from time to time.

He's in a state shock at the omission of Mackay.....apparently with Sloane getting tagged, mackay is an obvious choice as an experienced type player to step into the midfield and lend a helping hand

He is taking the piss surely. Last time I heard him commentate one of our games he spent a lot of time laughing at Dmac. From memory,He Even pointed out the 1 Brownlow vote in 150+ games record on several occasions which Ive never heard any other talking head mention in the past.

No. He is a coach in his own right. Has done forward coaching work with GWS and I believe has a big mentor role with Buddy and Roughy.

The guy knows his stuff when watching a game. A lot of people don't like his commentary as he talks more like a coach than a tv presenter. He will pick up on something and over analyse it at times. Which can be boring and repetitive to listen to.

Other times he will just get bored with a game and not actualky discuss the game much at all.

But doubt be knows much about us. Other than the games he commentates.

Yeah I dont mind his special comments. I just wish he realised that the Special Comments guy isnt supposed to make quarter long special comments.

At times I think he is trying a little to hard to be the next Mark Robinson.

I expect Poholke to get an AFL game ahead of Wigg.

And rightly so.

Wigg is in the VB, Mackay mould. Nice highlight package but found wanting when we need some grit and he has to perform under real pressure.

Our track record for developing lowish pick draftees is pretty damn good. If Wigg hasn't got a game, surely some of the blame lands on him too?

I do agree that the club should at least play him in the AFL and see what he has got, but there would be reasons (If they're good reasons i can't be sure of)
