He's a player with a noted inability to perform when his body is not 100%.

Reports of his rib injury varied from cracked ribs to damaged rib cartilage. Rib cartilage takes months to repair. We have no idea just how much pain JJ is still enduring as a result of this injury.

JJ's ability as a player has been proven over several seasons, as (unfortunately) has his inability to perform under duress. Let's not be so hasty in writing him off, until he's had a chance to play injury free.

How idiotic were the selectors bringing him back without proving himself in the 2's. Otto was going fine and we actually kept him rucking, there was simply no need. Just dumb.

If we lose to this rabble of a side it would be mortifying, beyond the pale stuff.

I think the selections will finally put the team on notice and except a BIG lift.

Great to see the Gooch get a run. a 10-15 touch game form him will still be light years ahead of Dmac's soft squibbery.
We will crush Brisbane but it's not Brisbane we have to worry about. Pyke is finally realising who is not in our best team and that he needs to use the full resources of our squad to get it done.

Who else is quality? Other than Zorko, Beams and Rich?
McCluggage and Berry may be young and inexperienced at this level but both are absolute quality as exemplified by both being drafted in the 1st Round.....and I can vouch for that quality having seen both lads numerous times over the previous 2 years up close. Different players in the way they play but absolute quality nonetheless . Barrett has the potential to be a Matt Crouch type player as well. And by the way if you think our boys will just push Jarrod Berry aside think again because this lad is as hard as it comes.

True he's not great.

You're right they do drop off but that doesn't change that the won the midfield last year.

Probably because they had Zorko, Beams, Rockliff and Robinson bullying our inside mids.

And I'm not sure they did actually win when we won by 130

By the same token , without the heckling, playing SANFL would give him an indication of what he needs to regain. Travelling emergency is a gift for someone younger or an immediate need.

Any SANFL player who travelled would have then missed 2 games in a row. I think that would have been a mistake.

I agree they're quality, but they're not the sort of players that'll have 25 touches and a couple of goals playing as a bullying inside mid. They're too inexperienced to offer that right now

Picked in the 30s actually ...35 ish then Gov was next in 40s

Best 3 players in 2 of his last 3 sanfl games and one of those was our best according to our site

Emergency 3x in 3 yrs in a row at GC with no debut in between

I reckon it's a bit weird TBH

I don't, I think it's pretty ordinary that a first round draft pick has pushed ahead of a fringe player. If Poholke and Thommo both get a gig ahead of him, then I'll be saying it's weird.

It might be semantics but 'invalid' doesn't mean the same thing as 'wrong'. And truth is often hard to define. Your example takes an extreme view to make your point, but more often the distinction is between 'Jenkins is a good forward even though he's not terribly physical' and 'Jenkins is a poor forward because he's not physical enough'. You can't say either one of those points of view is true or false, only arguable one way or another. Both opinions are valid whether you agree with them or not.
I did point that out.

and I know invalid doesn't mean the same thing as wrong, but in relation to an unfounded argument it effectively does.

sorry but the assertion that all people's opinions are equally valid is absurd.
Never said they were valid, but they have a right to it (no matter how much you disagree). If we all just came from that point, this place would be far more enjoyable.

sure, but if an opinion is demonstrably wrong and you want to show the least bit of common respect to that person you offer a correction, you don't touch them on the shoulder and say I respect your opinion.

OK the idiot insinuation isn't the politest way to go about it either but geeze, this isn't a dinner party.

Not cool. Would be seriously disappointed if he got heckled by a single crows fan when his only crime is that of being continuously picked by every coach he has played under.

The worst part about getting dropped has always been playing some shitty game at a shitty local ground in shitty conditions in a shitty changeroom with a shitty crowd. It's punishment. And it works.

Claye Beams? A guy averaging 15 touches as a defender with stints in the middle?
Rob Shirley was one the best run with/taggers in his day, wouldn't have thought he'd have ever racked up the possies either but he was bloody effective in curtailing some really elite players influence on games. Tagging effectively doesn't really come down to talent.

Kane Cornes agrees
