Who goes to stringer?
Hombsch, probably. Or maybe even O'Shea.

I'm not sure Trengove has a matchup this week. The Dogs play Redpath, Stringer and Crameri as KPF's, none of whom are particularly tall and all of which rely on athleticism and strength. Unless the Dogs recall Boyd or a second ruckman, I'd just about rest Trengove this week and bring Impey back in for match-up purposes. Plenty of nippy small forwards at the Dogs to worry about.

OUT: Trengove - Colquhoun - Lobbe (rested) - Wines (injured)

IN: Jonas - Palmer - Harvey - Ah Chee
You forgot Hartlett.

Probably only Colquhoun on the game he played, just unconvincing and took little responsibility for the consequences of his passes much of the game. Pretty sure we'll also need a replacement for Wines.
So do we top up with up and comers and let adequate but ageing players stay in the reserves as Chris Scott is doing? If so I want to see Frampton squeezed in. And the complete opposite of that philosophy and for probably the last time Tommy Logan.

Port look so much better when Ryder is in the ruck. Clearances are smoother, the mids get separation due to the superior taps ...

When Ryder goes forward, Westhoff or Trengove into the ruck.

Paddy is possibly going to spend as much time running back as he is running forward this week. We need Lobbe in.

Why? If Paddy is rucking I would back Ports midfield to get on top of theirs.

Playing two ruckman (and Paddy is a ruckman) hasn't worked this year. On the fast track I would play an extra runner and back in the class of Wingard and R.Gray up forward to kick a score.

I agree i reckon at Etihad playing the one ruckman with the Hoff and Tregove is a great move. Im a huge Lobbe fan but more run the better plus Bulldogs have terrible rucks

For team balance it would make sense if Ryder was the sole ruckman as he and Trengove who doesn't have a match up could beat the second rate Bulldogs ruckmen and it would give us an extra runner, but they may bring Minson in this week. As I don't see Lobbe being dropped we could play him in the ruck more with Trengove giving him a chop out and leaving Ryder forward all game to stretch the Dogs defense. I wouldn't drop Lobbe as the last 3 weeks they have combined for 12 goals as Lobbe is just learning how to take a mark inside 50 and our form is better. Ryder has looked like he could tear a game open at times this year he just needs to kick straight and he knows how to kick goal at Etihad. Gray, Moore and Young all played pretty well and Hoon did some good things but did make some clangers but his running power keeps him in. Monfries could come in as well as he's still in our best 22 and did a number on Murphy last time and knows Etihad well. I'd bring Impey in for the extra speed and to match up on any of their small forwards. If theres a game Neade, Gray and Hoons lighter frames can work in it's this week against the Dogs, just put Gray in the midfield not up forward as I feel he plays better further up the field. I just want to see Neade stand next to Caleb Daniels and pretend he's a giant just once in his playing career!
