Out: White, Bugg, Viney

Let the players who have been killing it in the VFL have a shot already. And no I'm not talking about JKH
Don't risk anyone coming back to quickly from injury.

Out: Bugg, Viney, Wagner, White,(Pederson if Hogan is fit)
In: Kennedy/Watts, JKH, Kent/Garlett, Trengove, (Hogan if fit)

Bugg and Viney are obvious outs, don't see what Wagner and White bring in terms of team balance. Trengove deserves one last crack and JKH can have an opportunity in the midfield with Viney out. Pederson is stiff but I think he will be omitted for team balance if Hogan's back. Maynard could also be a dark horse.

In: hogan Jeffy JKH
Out: white bugg Viney (if he can't play)

What a luxury to be able to drop both Wagner and White, and cover their "loss" by swinging TMac back now that Hogan is returning.

Trengove gets his chance with Viney missing for a concerningly vague length of time. Goodwin was putting a brave face on it but he didn't look confident.

Garlett an easy replacement for Bugg.

One of the Kens in for White.

In: Hogan, Garlett, Trengove, Kent/Kennedy/JKH

Out: Wagner, Bugg, Viney, White

Scenes if Hogan and Garlett don't get up. And by scenes I mean a loss to Carlton. I may tip them anyway - their midfield core of Gibbs, Murphy, Cripps and Kreuzer may well be too good for us minus Jones and Viney.

This period also shows the perils of having such a young team with kids playing central roles. Oliver and Hunt both look badly in need of a week or two off to freshen up, but we can't afford to rest them. Petracca looks ok for now but I'd be concerned about him too - the roles he plays really keep us in it at times (Pies, Sydney) and that must be taxing too.

For me this season is still the springboard for winning a grand final in the next couple of years. Would be great to get into the finals and win 1 game at least. But this year (for me) is about getting the list right.

Carlton is a big danger game, and I would think Melbourne are 50/50 to win it. They have been playing a super brand of footy these last couple of weeks.

Sure things for in's assuming they are fit would be Garlett, Watts and Hogan of course.

Then bring in some of the players that are on the fringe still, unless they have already blown their chances.
  • Trengrove
  • Kent
  • Kennedy
  • Kennedy-Harris

Fully agree. Viney to have an operation and is done for the year, Jonesy's prob done as well.
Would love to see our young group get a taste of finals but I've seen enough to know we can roll anyone now...
I'm genuinely excited for our short term future, just need a bit more luck..

Alright here's the 4-1-1 folks

Say some Carlton midfield is dissing your on-ballers give em' some of these:

Hard on-ball Unit: Nope I'm not talking some sort of Neal-Bullen, Kennedy-Harris onball unit that Carlton will eat up I mean some big bodies to go with Gibbs n Cripps etc.

This would have been the perfect match for Tyson to really get another crack at doing the clearance stuff that he was so good at in 2014 but it looks like he may miss too with a knee complaint.

Play Petracca in the guts for a vast majority of the match. Yes we lose a powerful target and some pressure up forward, but Trac is a bull that just doesn't lose his feet and can just peel off from contests. I would also like to see Trengove play. He may be slow but he's a big body and in the clearances is probably the one area we can afford to have a turtle. If not him, then I'd even be open to playing Maynard.

We need another key forward alongside Tom McDonald. If Hogan is good he's in. If not, play the Weed. I have enough confidence in OMac to hold his own down back now. Wouldn't be opposed to Spencer either given Gawn looks a little underdone and Kreuzer is on fire at the moment.

One or both of Wagner and White should go. I'd love both, ideally we'll be lucky if Goody drops one so we'll say White for arguments sake. Return Hunt to the half-back. Stretch also looked ordinary but is probably lucky he wasn't alone and we don't have too many other options at the moment. Pedo needs a big game.

If Garlett is even 80% play him. If not, BenKen or blood Johnstone.

B: N Jetta, O-Mac, M Hibberd

HB: J Hunt, S Frost, J Lewis

C: B Stretch, C Petracca, ANB

HF: M Hannan, T-Mac, J Harmes

F: JKH, Hogan/Weideman, J Garlett/B Kennedy

R: M Gawn C. Oliver J. Trengove

INT: J Melksham, B Vince, C Pedersen, J Wagner (-_-)

OUTS: Bugg (susp), Viney (inj), Tyson (inj), White (omit)
INS: Garlett (or BenKen), Hogan (or Weed), JKH, Trengove

If Joel Smith comes back on fire in the VFL then I wouldn't even be opposed to him coming in for Wagner.

Was about to say just this. Even if he doesn't fire I'd bring him straight back in. Even if a little under done, he had a shoulder injury so I believe has done plenty of running, and he's shown more in his 10 minute AFL career than Wagner has in his 19 games.

I like the rest of your changes, and the tactical changes you've mentioned as well.

Happy to write next week off. Just have to jag a game on the way home that no one expects us to win to make up for it. Easy done.

If we somehow win next week with this injury list ill be over the moon.

Interesting people think Watts is close to a return, didnt even train this week
He's not, ruled himself out pregame
