Would be a major mistake if this happens. The major danger being that he has a good game against a backline that leaks goals, thus giving him more games when we know he doesn't perform in a finals like atmosphere.

Also cannot pick the one ruck option again. Time and time again it has failed us.
I’ve accepted that Schache isn’t gonna be what we want him to be but I think people get caught up in the whole “is he gonna help us in finals” thin. If he can come in every now and then and help our forward line work and help us put big scores on the board week to week there’s definitely a place on the list for that. No he’s probably not gonna help us in the 1-4 finals we may possibly play a year but we still play another 22 a year that need to be won by as much as possible. In hindsight last week was a bad game for him but if Timmy doesn’t get up (fingers crossed he does) I’d be okay with him this week.

Not a bad week for Buku to debut. Keath will take McKay which leaves Casboult. Casboult has done bugger all this year so we'll obviously go with someone like Wood on him and use Buku & others to mitigate anything in the air.

Assuming Cordy is getting dropped, we might be one step closer to seeing the backline that Bev has dreamt of with no geneuine 2nd KPD. Keath surrounded by the athletic mediums in Wood, Crozier, Khamis & Williams.

I actually think that can work. Wood, Khamis and Crozier all strong in the air and good intercept defenders and Williams is also solid.Bailey Dale has also been surprisingly good in the air. For a zone defence this would be preferable. Probably my preferred set up now as I do not rate Cords, Gards and unfortunately Young to be competitive in finals against strong forwards

Personally I think if English is out then we need to pick Sweet and play 2 rucks. We need to ensure that our midfield has the best chance possible of dominating and that we have a decent ruck chop out if the opposition get on top.

Anyway we shall see what happens. Sounds like Bev will give Schache another chance.

Yeah I’d be happy with Sweet too, I think his game has evolved enough now he can be useful for enough around the ground and down forward.

I really hope Bevo has a rethink on the Ruck situation. Even against Richmond, had Sweet been in instead of Shache, the times when Martin and Nankervis were rucking Sweet would have controlled the Ruck against a small leaping Pickett and helped wear Nankervis down. Given that half way thru the last we were within a kick, it alone may have been sufficient to win that game.

...or he gets a level of confidence that carries forward for the rest of the season and beyond.

I am so sorry but I think last Friday night's match was curtains for him.

I have never seen Buku play. What should I expect to see on Sunday?

I've only seen footage of him playing but he looks very mobile, very agile, good speed, good quick hands, good kick, defensive smarts and good hands overhead - including a good leap. If he can develop to play in the AFL like he did in the under 18 comps (including the nationals where he was named BP in the all Australian team), the guy is going to be a star. He would not have been picked this week if he was not around the mark for selection, I'm sure.

So much for the footage. I have seen him a number of times on the train and tram going to Maribyrnong College (a high school with a select entry sports program) and he is a pretty big lad. Perfectly put together for AFL.

Any footage been whacked together from his year so far in the VFL? Who wants to take one for the team and do this for the likes of Garcia, Weightman etc now we got so much VFL coverage available. sackofballs maybe? 😬😬😬
