Wallis and Hannan in the same team? Not sure about that.
That's a great discussion. I reckon Wallis is that medium/3rd tall forward when we play teams who have lots of pressure like the tigers. And hannan plays the half forward/backup Wing role which we have never successfully filled.

JJ looks like a player who just doesn't know what to do anywhere on the field. He is so lost that the whole game seems to happen somewhere else but not near him. Whatever he is expected to do he can't do. I'm coming to the opinion he needs a new start with another team for his and our good.

Get the feeling Bev wants to almost give the whole list a taste before finals. 10 blokes haven't played this year, but McLean and Richards are unavailable. I reckon one of the 8 remaining will get a gig, from most likely to unlikely:
Louis Butler
Roarke Smith
Cody Weightman
Buku Khamis
Riley Garcia
Will Hayes
Jamarra Ugle-Hagan
Dominic Bedendo

Out:
Schache - His game isn't up for AFL level. Been in the system long enough and may have just stamped his papers tonight

JJ - Great player for the club but needs to be dropped. Whether he needs to get some form or just figure out if he has regressed.

IN:
English - Crucial!

Young - We notoriously struggle with Carltons talls. Keith will need help with McKay, Casboult and McGovern. Who else can do it?

Ordinary night for us but players won't find form if we drop 4-5 each week. I think McNeil may possibly sneak in, not sure who for

McNeil to come back in. 2 goals and 9 possessions in his 3 quarters against GWS gives him a recall. Especially with how shite our small forwards are.

Ins
McNeil, English, Cavarra

Outs
JJ, Schache, West (should be alright long run but was dreadful last night),

Unsure about what to do with Cordy/KPD2 situation. I'd probably go small and play Wood 2nd key defender.

Strong interest in todays VFL game. Lotta players will be wanting good games.

The physicality and pressure in the second half (and the last 10 mins of the 2nd qtr) really affected us. It was a good early workout for finals footy. We discovered that nearly the whole side can fold mentally under that pressure but some of them have been there before (2016) and we know they can handle it on a good day. Others who were suspect are being found out.

Bevo should be looking to bring in a player or two with aggression and mental toughness. But not overdo it. West is worth another chance. He fluffed some early chances and I think that got into his head. He does have some mongrel and he surely won't play that badly again.

OUT: Schache, JJ

IN: English, Garcia

If Scott's injured bring in McNeil.
Pretty sure Bevo won't drop Hannan but I would - I'd bring in JUH.

What's your thought process behind bringing in JUH?

I’ll give West another week because he’s someone I want to settle into the tram because he could be important in finals. JJ & Schache not so much. Not too over-reactionary changes.

Out: JJ, Schache
In: McNeil, English

I’d be watching Martin closely over the next couple of weeks too if Sweet continues to put in good performances.

Scott ‘seemed’ to play better tonight, but still isn’t getting involved anywhere near enough.

Really hope Weightman and Garcia play well today in the VFL I think they can give us the pressure and work rate our forward line lacks atm.

Also based on last nights performance west cannot play next week. If that was any other player without that surname posters would be out for his head. Was a selfish lazy undisciplined game and completely unacceptable

Agree, for one of the most experienced players in the team the only player to get less kicks than him was McNeil and I'm sure he would've passed JJ's total if he had've got onto the ground. He adds nothing to the side apart from being a witches hat for opposition players to run past. Bring Butler into the side to replace him.

I'd be pretty annoyed if we drop West. Had a shocker yeah, but he needs time to adjust to the tempo, running patterns and decision making at AFL level. Give him 4 - 5 games ala McNeill and Scott, who are both showing positive signs after being insignificant in their first few games.

Outs: Schache, JJ, Cordy, Scott (if injured).
Ins: English, Weightman, Buku, Butler.

Martin plays another howler like that and get Sweet in the team. Unfortunately premiership heroes JJ and Cordy are a shadow of their former selves. JJ being asked to play a role he is not capable of.

Give him time to burn more teammates? His game had nothing to do with adjusting to tempo. His game was him trying to do the special rather than the simple and burning his team mates in the process. Anyway who watched him against the Suns VFL team would have seen similar stuff to last night

Funny old game isn’t it. Players get better and better with every game they don’t play.

West, Schache, Cordy, Young. Everyone screaming for their inclusion until it happens...then they’re useless.

Really hope we resist the temptation to bring in JUH as I fear he’ll suffer a similar fate. Yes, he’s kicked goals but he looks miles off AFL standard. No need to throw him in just to satisfy the media’s urge.

There is a bit of his dad him I think a great player but also could be selfish regarding playing style

There is no question he has talent but he needs to learn to play a role within a team and I just don’t think you can keep him in the team after that game, it sends a message that you can be undisciplined, lazy and not play your role.

Was Scott injured late in game ? He was subbed out

Assuming he is
Outs
Scott
Schache - unfortunately he is not up to it

I would prefer to let West stay in for another game or 2 to see where he is really at but he was poor last night

As for JJ, well either play him off half back where he am lines for us and play his best footy or drop him. I would rather give him a last crack at half back

In
English
Wallis / McNeil

Tell the boys the effort, the indiscipline and the lack of pressure on the ball; has to be addressed by them. There are some that want to play AFL and they must own their own performance.

No change.

(Although I think Scott is injured and will be replaced by English.

Dont think he was subbed but he had a big collision late and laid on the ground holding his leg then was helped off by trainers late

Would you really drop him after 1 aweful game ? There is a role for him in our team. Read him the riote act, sit him down and analys his performance and point out where and when he burnt teammates and if it continues to happen, then he plays VFL, but educating him at AFL level (as long as he takes the feedback on board and we see improvement in his decision making) is what is required I believe.

If it was just a bad game in terms of not finding the ball and getting beaten in the contest I would give him another crack but it wasn’t just that.

He was lazy and selfish in his play. You can have a bad night in playing your role and then you can ignore playing your role and I had him in the latter.
