Pretty interesting match up now with all the expected ins and outs. With no Henderson you would think Rory will take Casboult while May will take Waite. Swallow's injury will probably push him into the back line so he can take one of the mids that is being push up the ground like Gibbs or Murphy. I suppose Stanley will take Judd in a tagging role. I think Matera is going to cause them headaches. I guess Kade Simpson might take Brandon because he goes alright on the smalls but I still think they'll struggle to keep Matera quiet.

I'm genuinely thinking this game is 50/50. As long as Judd doesn't run riot then the Suns are a genuine chance.

Malthouse ruling Garlett out of selection, can we persuade Judd to have a big night out before Saturday?

Finally a Saturday game where I'm not working! Might head to the Pineapple Hotel in Brissy for a bevvy to watch the game. I'm tipping GC to win this one, but not by much. I've been actively watching Carlton games all season where I cheer them on as the underdog, and they've never had a great last quarter.

In fact, I'd go as far as to say they're ****ing shit after half time. Something happens to the team that means they're easily capable of losing a 20-30+ lead and then go on to lose by 20. If anything, I'd say Carlton and GC will be neck and neck for the first half, then GC picks up the pace afterwards.

Gold Coast by 10.

Worth noting that carlton are coming back from w.a. which teams have been notoriously bad at this year (albeit they have a few extra days to recover). And this is the first time out of qld for a month for our boys.. we should go in confident, no honoutable loss bullshit

Im thinking Stanley to Gibbs, as I think he is a far more dangerous match winner than Murphy. Probably wouldn't be able to keep up with Murphy either for pace, while Gibbs can be a bit of a plodder and quickly tagged demoralised out of the game from the start. Murphy is a gut runner and can will himself into the contest and as the game progresses. Other danger man is probably Simpson, Perhaps send Jacky to Simpson? Might actually be on par with weight and strength!! Simpson has a very slight frame wouldn't be surprised if he was less than 75kg so could suit Martin to do a defensive role particularly with his 2nd efforts and defensive pressure he applies.

I think we have a good enough forward line to get on top of Carlton's defence. Malthouse typical gameplan is not too dissimilar to ours in along the boundary safer movement of the footy, but the positive thing for us is we are far stronger than Carlton in clearances and contested possessions.

Couple of good offensive matchups will be Prestia v Murphy and O'Meara v Judd at the coalface. All 4 can be prolific pure ball winners. We need a big game from Harley I reckon as he could be our X Factor and match winner. I hope we can come out with the same physical intent as last week against the Saints, if we have the same mindset we will win - no question. Carlton have had some really really ordinary ball users this year and we can really burn them on the turnover with our pace through the midfield. Can't see Juddy, Gibbs, Carazzo and the likes being able to keep up with O'Meara, (2nd gear Swallow), Prestia etc...

sorry to intrude guys, but why can't osborne get a game, stats and numbers have been good, and the coaches haven't had a shortage of opportunities to promote him, either off the back of injuries, his good form, or others not being ready (lewis herbert)?
