Nicholson lucky the reserves were woeful as well and there's no-one else to bring in.

Take Nicholson out, that free kick that went straight to Varcoe should be enough.

Yep. Love his speed and the way he takes on the opposition, but he can't kick. And this is the problem with our whole backline. Besides maybe Strauss, we don't have 1 elite kick amongst them. Tapscott is a good kick as well as Frawley, but both turn it over under pressure. For us to improve as a side, we need to address this major issue asap.

The one thing i see above all else as a massive problem to us progressing to the next level is our ability to kick the ball out of defence

grimes, bartram, rivers, garland, macdonald are all average kicks of the footy
dont get me wrong defensively barts grimes rivers and garland are outstanding especially grimes

but apart from tapscott we really struggle to accurately kick passes out through the zone, happened against the bombers and the swans now

i think they should seriously consider davey playing inside the back 50 permanently just as an option to kick it because our forwards are getting **** all supply because we just cant get it out of our defence ..

I POSTED THIS IN ROUND 1
just saying i cop a rough trot on this sometimes.. im not that silly

OUT

Green - make an example of sending the captain back to Casey

This. :thumbsu:

After that performance it would be tempting (but unrealistic) to drop all 22. Green appears to have been among the worst of a terrible bunch. Dropping the captain maybe a bold step but some sort of statement has to made by the club that performance like is beyond unacceptable.

At least we have precedent in dealing with this situation:

Round 18 1979

Fitzroy 7.7 14.14 26.17 36.22 238
Melbourne 2.1 2.5 4.8 6.12 48 Fitzroy won by 190 pts

Round 19 1979

Melbourne 1.5 8.6 14.7 21.8 134
Essendon 3.4 5.7 10.9 16.9 105 Melbourne won by 29 pts

Dean (or whoever is coach on Saturday) needs to get on the phone to Carl Ditterich.

OR alternatively:

Out - Everyone

In - nickgrant69, Biff, Marns, Crimson Azure, RandB, Gazza 11, Sylvia Saint, Syl, Big Sexc, Demon Revival, Deemy, Syrus, Dez, omit, ThePuppetMaster, WattsGoodForYou, High Flying Flag, whelan=legend, Andy Mac, The Dr, melbournemartin, Supermercado.

At a whopping 184cm, I'll play KPF or Ruck (Y)

I'm shitty I didn't get a gig in that side, I've been around longer than all of you crunts... ;)

Only Brad Green has been around longer and we all know how well things are going for him ;)

GWS for you and I Cowboy?

We're off.

Sorry guys, thought you were both returning from injury via Casey ;)

Seriously though, any thought to exposing Carlton's KPB issues with Jameson and Waite (when he plays there) being out?

Get Gawn to run with Warnock and Jamar with Kreuzer. That leaves Martin for a potential forward role.

Thoughts? Alternatively could swap and use Jamar up forward like we did in 2009.

Obviously with Casey being pumped makes it difficult to find players in form.

Really worried about the backline, we don't match up well with their players...

Frawley to Betts is a must, Thompson blanketed him last week.

Be interesting to see the changes this week, because someone like Viney will clearly have his favourites and throw them straight in. I wouldn't mind seeing the three big boys all play, one of Jamar and Martin always at FF.

We certainly need to lose a flanker or two. There's no point playing Dunn if he is played as a mid, that was tried and failed. Use him up forward or not at all. I'd rather Blease or Evans if they want a mid.

The other role I could see playing is how he ran with Heath Shaw last year. If he could do the same with Scotland we might have some success.

Who does Jordie tag? Judd or Murphy?

Trengove v. Simpson?

Beamer or Sylvia v. Robinson. Someone needs to redefine 'bruise free' for him.

Is Bartram ready to return?

..blues have had the short backline for most of the season, exposing it isn't down to extra KPF's.. ..you only need 1 or 2 really, it's all about out-working our midfield so that your bonafide KPF is 'one-out' vs Hendo [most likely]..
..as an outsider watching your games, i think what you need as changes is more gameplan, vs player ins/outs..

At the very least, I would like to see Blease, Cook and Scully come in this week. Davey too if he is fit - as Jobe Watson showed yesterday it is not impossible to play well after a long layoff.

Normally not one to advocate large numbers of changes due to team instability... but can we really get more stable... not really.

FB: Rivers - Frawley - Bartram
HB: Tapscott - Garland - Strauss
C: Scully - McKenzie - Trengove
HF: Davey - Watts - Dunn
FF: Howe - Cook - Petterd
FOL: Jamar - Moloney - Jones
INT: Martin - Blease - Green
(SUB): Nicholson.

OUT: Bate, Sylvia, Maric, Jurrah

Highly unlikely that this will happen as i cant see Sylvia being dropped but i would think it would definitley be in Viney's favour (in my eyes anyway) if he did, shows that he would be willing to be ruthless.

I like Nicho as the sub... his kicking is inconsistent but the run that he can provide is just what a sub needs. However, he would be a decent match up for a garlett or betts pace wise.

Mckenzie would go to Judd with Jones going to Murphy. Would love to see Davey go to Yarren.
Garland to Walker, Frawley to betts?, Bartram/Nicho to Garlett.

Is it just me or would anyone else like to see nicho play a bit up forward and see what he can do?
