It's a very gettable game away from home. No Hawkins, Rohan, Cameron, Duncan, Close. Danger is playing injured too I think. He was horrible last week. Libba back. Bevo has to go despite the result but I hope if they lose and the odds and such show how winnable this game is to the club that it pushes them to sack him. However there's also that slim chance of winning and making finals that the team goes deep into finals.

Going from losing to teams 18th and 16th back to back to deep in finals is just something I can't see us doing.

I get that the cats have put a few out to pasture but crazy that were 1.77 favourites now (massive swing in the last 24 hours).
Hawkins, Cameron, Danger, Duncan, Blicavs, Esava, Close, Rohan, Stanley/Ceglar, Henry, Guthrie (?).

Now look I get we’ve been horrible but the Cats side they’ll chuck out there will be pretty terrible. They’ve been a mediocre side all season and missing 8-9 of their top 12ish players.

We’re in all sorts of trouble after the last couple of weeks but we’re still putting our 19 or 20 of our best 22.

That’s the funny bit about Bev. No matter how god awful the recent efforts were, how inconsistent and crap our selection and performance have been. No matter that the problems have persisted for years… Come September, there’s still that teeny tiny sliver of “hmm mayyybe”. Probably contributes a bit to the losses like Freo last year being so enraging lel

Nothing to lose for the Cats, plenty to prove for us. A recipe for disaster?

TBH I am pretty numb about this game. I don’t really care.

We win we have beaten a Geelong team with so many outs.

We win my kids will be on edge until GWS beats Carlton and asking me do I think Carlton might win etc etc 6 pm game also drags it out

We lose I think this will help close a season off in a rightful way and will be a reflection of our whole season

Really disappointing season with so much up and down from quarter to quarter let alone week to week.

Club need to sort things out quickly with clear and decisive decisions coming from competent people which need to be found.

Go the boys selling the footy records !

With the Cats' expected outs, surely this would have been a good time to go back to the two defensive talks structure the board was so pleased with a few weeks ago. Ideally, both Keath and VDM would have faced the hammer and we could have gone in shorter and faster.

But you'd imagine now Duryea is suspended and Cleary will come in for him. I don't see an easy replacement for Keath and VDM in the VFL and JJ is unlikely to be fit.

Do we use Daniel or Williams in the back half?

It's more than a few put out to pasture.

Cameron, Hawkins, Blicavs, Guthrie and Duncan is probably 5 of our best 7. That leaves only Stewart and a banged up Danger playing of our genuine stars.

Then Rohan, Stanley, Close and J Henry also missing that are all in our best 18 or so. Stanley not ruled out yet but very unlikely.

Who do you back? The coach who has lost the players or the coach who has sent all his players in for surgery?

Dude. We just lost to a team that had incentive to lose. At home. With finals on the line.

Would a loss against a half strength Cats team be as bad as the previous 2 losses? We are so poor at present that a youthful Cats team is probably more motivated than we are and they don't like losing at home no matter who's in their team. Not sure I really care too much anyway.

If we win, it will be like getting a participation prize 😞

I think it depends on how we lose. If we put up another performance with no effort than i'd say its just as bad as the past 2.

Surely Vandermeer doesn’t play after these last two weeks? I was a fan of VDM in 2020, but have hardly seen two worse games for the FFC than these last two weeks.

I agree, but I think they see investing in VDM as a necessity because JJ is probably physically cooked, and VDM is the best replacement we have. And the only times our movement from the backline has looked good is when Dale, JJ and Ed are all playing - and I think we're hoping to recreate that at some point.

There are alternatives, I would put Caleb back into his tried and true position, but he was moved out of there for a reason. Short kicks just aren't as useful any more. Bailey Williams is an option too but chronically prone to panicking out of the backline. Then you're looking at an untried Gallagher.
