I reckon Nelson could be a good match up for WHE. Not sure he will be that keen on a close marking defender on his shoulder all day.

Cole has been good back at the Beagles. I think he's a better fit than Schoey or Rotham, although I could see them play conservative and bring in the Scho.
Plenty of options.
Good hey?

In: JK, Cole
Out: Ah Chee, Duggan
Unfortunately for Ah Chee JK is more important Allen is in good enough form and versatile enough to stay in. Cole and Duggan is like for like I think Schoey probably makes us too tall but would depend on who comes in for Collingwood. Adams and Greenwood will probably come in for Thomas and Sier. If the big Yank Cox stays in then Schoey might be preferred over Cole. Some suggestion that Noble a fast half back /wingman could come in to add some speed for them. Certainly will be interesting on Thursday.

Think Francis Watson will debut club has been wanting to give him a game and now a spot opens up for next three
weeks.
Francis offers us something different to our backline with his run and carry
I can understand the pretext. However jetts provides the run and carry. Plus a footy travels faster kicked then tucked under the arm. Gov, Hurn and Jetta are elite kicks

Doesn't make much sense debuting Watson when Cole is there ready to go and knows the system well.
I actually think it is the perfect time to debut him.

Realistically, with a '5-6 weeks 'off legs' (period) and then building to training (and then) to play' (words of Vozzo, not me), we won't be seeing Duggan again this year. If we do, great, but horribly unlikely. I wouldn't be surprised to see the club release a message within the next few weeks that he's 'gone to surgery' or 'been put on ice' or something.

So the most like-ish guys size wise and position are Cole and Watson. Cole is a bit down on form at AFL level and Watson looked ready to debut when injury struck. He's quick, can run and carry and loves a tackle (10 in his JLT game). Makes sense to get a few games into him so that he is a bit seasoned come finals time

Don’t think we’re getting Duggo back this season. Was deliberately worded that way to only sound like a 5-6 weeker at a quick glance, what difference it makes I have no idea.. but it’ll be 10 weeks before he’s playing again. Something had to give I guess..

Watson really ought to be given a game before we have to make tough decisions at the end of the year. If he isn't given a game in the next few weeks, I suspect his card has already been marked.

I don't really buy the argument of not wanting to debut him in a big game. Rotham debuted at the G against Collingwood. Brander debuted at the SCG against Sydney. Allen debuted against GWS. Petch debuted in an away derby. We gave Cameron a shot against Essendon a few weeks ago. None of these were insignificant fixtures, and you'd think that Watson would be much more prepared for the rigours of AFL footy than any of them.

We shouldn't be scared of blooding players when that very act was a big part of our resurgence last year.

Give him a crack.

(Full disclosure he's also apparently dating my cousin so I have skin in this game)

Out Allen, Duggan.
In Schofield, Kennedy. Just can't bring in two talls with two smalls going out.

Schofield specifically in to play on De Goey.
Kennedy replaces Allen.

Tough on Allen but JK straightens us up, gives JD more room to move and Allen doesn't have a defined role with 2 rucks in the side. Feel Schoey is much better at this stage as a defender and made De Goey his absolute bitch last time round.

I hope we go into this game knowing what's at stake. The pies have played well away from Melbourne this year and will be a different beast not being the favourites. They will likely play a decent game imo.

Yes, The boys need to be ruthless all game I reckon. No place for complacency this week.

The pies will be breathing fire and keen to break their string of losses and get some confidence back in their group. What better way than by beating the media’s newly anointed flag favourites on their home turf in front of you lot of rabid and hostile campaigners.
