And we haven't beaten a single decent team all year, we'll get destroyed in any final away from domain. But I don't see how playing Adamson instead of Redden or Jetta is giving up, chances are even if he's not quite ready he's going to offer as much as they have this year.
What do you think he is going to do? Redden dominated in the last 2 WAFL games and look how he played today. Adamson played one half decent game in conditions suited to him. I doubt he is going to do much at AFL level. We are better off bringing Sheed back in.

Well as bad as we've been we are only a couple of percent outside the top 4. We need to have a crack while the opportunity is there. For all we know we may not play finals for the next decade. Giving up when you are in this position is stupid.

This. Exactly this. We're in a pretty good position (despite playing largely poor footy this season). We should absolutely be throwing everything possible into winning each week. Who knows what can happen next season.

If Hutchings/Redden/Priddis in the middle is throwing everything at it, then God help us.

Sheed wasn't on my ins because I think he needs another wafl game, but if you're judging them off wafl appearances then Adamson played better than Sheed on the weekend. Also what makes you think I'm basing his inclusion off one game?

What actually is our best team for the year, if we had everyone fit for finals?

I really want McGovern to be able to play forward, but we rely so much on his intercept marking down back. If Mackenzie can play back in form though, I think the setup below might be something close to our best side

Sheppard Mackenzie Schofield
Wellingham Barrass Hurn
Gaff Shuey Jetta
LeCras McGovern Cripps
Hill Kennedy Darling
Naitanui Priddis Sheed
Masten Yeo Lycett Duggan

This leaves out Brown, Butler, Hutchings, Redden, McGinnity, Ellis and Nelson of the players who have been in the best 22 at times this year.

We still don't have a really good lock down small defender. Brown can play on smalls better than Schofield, but doesn't offer the same rebound. Can Nelson play there, or will Butler stay as a cool head in defence?

Does this setup leave us an inside mid short?

Can the three tall defenders be effective without McGovern there as the intercept marker, and will McGovern be a successful forward? I think he would take pressure and a tall defender off Darling which could be handy.

Hill and LeCras will probably play further up the ground, but where does Yeo fit, or Masten or Duggan?

weren't you trying to tell me last week that mitch brown was doing fine??
He did fine in the Roos match. Obviously not an ideal situation with him in ruck and he was poor today. Luckily Giles picked a good weekend to have his best match for the year.

Well it can't be off much else. He's only had a handful of decent games at league level.

Adamson has been a consistent league performer for about a whole season now.

It's pretty disappointing that we're no closer to answering this question given Mackenzie, Brown and Schofield have all been available (if not in great form)

Out: Redden or Hutchings, McGinnity, Brown
In: Jetta, Sheed, Emac

I think we need to keep one of Redden or Hutchings for team balance... especially since Sheed probably isn't ready to play hard inside mid after his injuries. I thought Brown did well in the past couple of weeks considering, but it didn't work at all yesterday... maybe time to bring Emac in to take Gov's role and free him up for a ruck/forward spot. It is unfortunate we have to move him out of a position he is dominating in... but it's now or never. Bit concerned about his tank for playing more on-ball though.

Out: Mcginnity. Brown. Hutchings
In: Nelson. Jetta. Sheed

-Brown seems to get in the way of the forwards all the time and yes he does compete in the ruck i feel it isn't really helping us much. I think it would be better to maybe have Schoey, Yeo and Gov pinch hit in tiny bursts to give Lycett a chop out.

- Everyone wants Redden out after that poor performance. But going back to the WAFL isn't going to help..He went to the WAFL and did what was asked and he dominated. Willing to back him in.

- Mcginnity isn't offering much at all so id rather we played Jetta up front.

- Hutchings is so 50/50..one week played well the next he is dead average. Lets play Nelson and see what else he can do.

- Sheed didn't have the best game on the weekend but after 3 games i think he should get a gig.

Give Redden another go, sending him out of the team after one week won't do anyone any good. Hutchings has been poor for a few weeks now, needs a spell.

Brown seems irrelevant when on the field. McKenzie is a better defender, and I'm sure we can figure out a system with all of McKenzie, McGovern and Schofield playing.

Agree has been named in the best in the west and Sunday times 7 times in 12 games this year. Was actually named in the best against Perth and dropped the next week.Time to reward consistent performance.

OUT: Redden, McGinnity, Hutchings, Brown
IN: Giles, Sheed, Adamson, Nelson

Reward WAFL form.
How does that work with Sheed. Did stuff all in the Wafl this week.
Out: McGinnity, Brown, Hutch
In: Jetta, MacKenzie, Nelson

To be honest playing those names week in and week out with similar results expecting something different...I call that giving up because you are out of ideas.

Your team should only be set in stone if they have been proven performers. If they haven't everything should be open to negotiation. Playing a group of players that are near enough because you might have to step backwards to go forwards is perhaps not so much giving up but not attempting to better yourself.
