Have you seen anything in any game so far this season that makes you think we're a chance to win a flag this year?
With the games coming up we have every chance of cementing a top 4 spot.

Once you're in the top 4 come finals time, you have a shot at it. Other teams can get key injuries, someone might pull something out of the fire and beat the hawks in a prelim.

You don't get a chance of a top 4 finish every year. stop with the loser talk.

What actually is our best team for the year, if we had everyone fit for finals?

I really want McGovern to be able to play forward, but we rely so much on his intercept marking down back. If Mackenzie can play back in form though, I think the setup below might be something close to our best side

Sheppard Mackenzie Schofield
Wellingham Barrass Hurn
Gaff Shuey Jetta
LeCras McGovern Cripps
Hill Kennedy Darling
Naitanui Priddis Sheed
Masten Yeo Lycett Duggan

This leaves out Brown, Butler, Hutchings, Redden, McGinnity, Ellis and Nelson of the players who have been in the best 22 at times this year.

We still don't have a really good lock down small defender. Brown can play on smalls better than Schofield, but doesn't offer the same rebound. Can Nelson play there, or will Butler stay as a cool head in defence?

Does this setup leave us an inside mid short?

Can the three tall defenders be effective without McGovern there as the intercept marker, and will McGovern be a successful forward? I think he would take pressure and a tall defender off Darling which could be handy.

Hill and LeCras will probably play further up the ground, but where does Yeo fit, or Masten or Duggan?

Thats a pretty good team for Gov forward arrangement. Im a Gov back person because we need him to generate ball as our mids will still likely get killed in the middle.

In: Giles Jetta Nelson McKenzie

Out: Redden Masten Hutchings Brown

I know a lot of changes but these need to happen.
Giles has to come in solely as a back up ruckman sit on the pine until Lycett needs a breather.
Jetta for speed I know he doesn't use it at the minute but opposition coaches have to do there home work on him and just on the slight chance he starts getting it they would be more worried about him then say Redden or Hutchings.
Nelson cause he gives a f*** and can play multiple positions if we need to go to plan B,C or D something that Simmo needs to implement which at the minute he can't get his head around sheer arogance i feel.
McKenzie in to free up McGovern, change up the forward line for Christ sake it's been the same thing since the start of last year, Opposition teams must laugh at us seriously when it comes to looking at our forward line set up, I'd like to say set ups but we actually don't have one it's the same thing over and over again.
Redden out again cause you can't play Priddis, him and Hutchings in the same team. Hutchings out for the same reason as just stated.
Brown cause it just doesn't work and Masten because he is the poster child of Flat track bullying.

If people still think mcginnity brings anything to the table you have no footy nous. Without a doubt one of the worst players in the league.

Out mcginnity hutch redden

In sheed duggan nelson

Maybe emac for barass or schofield.

His missed tackle and jack darling kicking yesterday changed the momentum of the game. Ball in our f50 right near the boundary line and he charges like a bull out of a gate instead of just forcing the player over the boundary line forcing a stoppage, kennedy and lecras also couldn't get it out of bounds as well. What was wrong with kennedys hands, he dropped everything including fumbling when he was a chance to kick a goal.

Duggan isn't doing nearly enough at WAFL level to come back in, Nelson is however and deserves a game

Agree has been named in the best in the west and Sunday times 7 times in 12 games this year. Was actually named in the best against Perth and dropped the next week.Time to reward consistent performance.
The way I see him is similar to Colledge last year. He does a reasonable job at WAFL level, has a few stand out games but doesn't look to have a game that is going to do much at AFL level. He is also a rookie so to play him the club is going to have to commit to upgrading him and that's if they even can. Considering we have guys like Sheed, Duggan and Nelson playing in the 2s I doubt they are going to be in any rush to bring him up. If they are going to eventually use him I would expect them to trial him with the first team during the preseason.

And we haven't beaten a single decent team all year, we'll get destroyed in any final away from domain. But I don't see how playing Adamson instead of Redden or Jetta is giving up, chances are even if he's not quite ready he's going to offer as much as they have this year.
But the good thing is we haven't lost to any of the lesser teams which has allowed us to stay on track, GWS, Geelong and Sydney have all dropped games against bottom 10 sides. We played average on the weekend but we still won. One of our issues is we don't have enough midfielders, the mids we have are forced into more clearances and run out of legs especially at the wide grounds like MCG because they have to defend the chip kicks more

Mate we have to do something. The likes of Karnapy and Adamson cant do any worse than what Redden, Masten, Jetta, Hutchings and McGinnity have delivered this year.

It's pretty disappointing that we're no closer to answering this question given Mackenzie, Brown and Schofield have all been available (if not in great form)
If the Gov goes forward, Schoey is a must to stay in imo to keep some rebounding ability.

he provides us no rebound. he averages 9.75 disposals and 1.81 rebound 50's Thats old school full back numbers. The modern day defender is expected win a bit more of the footy and provide more rebound from defence. Thats what the likes of rance do. Even Daniel talia has changed his game. Emac provided that in 2014. Also schofield sucks above his head. I rather us bring emac in for schofield.

Serious questions need to be asked of the match committee if Jackson Nelson, an emerging talent who actually has a crack every time out, cant get a game in our midfield after the debacle of our effort (or lack thereof) in the last quarter.

And if Sheed is anywhere near fit he has to come in.

The midfield combo of schuey, nelson and sheed couldn't be any worse then what we are currently serving up

well i think enough is enough i'm thinking of emailing the club. Simpson Does not care I think! Why can us the fans see this!! Get better players in the middle.

need 2 strong inside mids!! trade masten !!

I'm becoming more and more convinced that we just need players that can arrest and regain the momentum of a game. It will help if they are midfielders as thats where the game is won and lost most of the time. We have very few strong on-field leaders.

FYI emailing the club has just as much effect as venting on here.
