Yes partly. We can't get our good kickers and blokes like Jetta into games going the bomb though. He's standing watching in three of those.

Fair point. But as noted above, I don't believe that Jetta has been dropped based solely on a lack of stats. I'd suggest that it's not that his team-mates have failed to get him into the game, it's that he's failed to provide what is expected of him. To me, it stood out like dogs balls that he was casually jogging around a spot when a very basic element of the game (switch of play) requires some moderate running. Now perhaps that was just 3-4 moments in the entire match at that made a disproportionately large impression on me, but it seems consistent with an incredibly bad work rate. I don't pretend to know all of the team structures and what is expected of each player - but that one was elementary and quite stark in how he failed to provide an acceptable effort.

That's my 2c on why Jetta's not playing.

a week away from BigFooty and the place has gone mad!

look i love me a bit of wellingham but he is neither elite nor capable of turning a game.

masten is an ordinary hff who collects the bulk of his possessions faffing around on a hbf.

a decent hff would need to be able to take an overhead mark (for starters), possibly like a j.hill or a m.lecras... dontcha reckon?

agree that he's not elite, but he had a couple of titanic performances last year, both against north actually; almost won the game for us in tassie (3 brownlow votes) and was BOG in the prelim against north last year. kicked big-moment goals in both games too.

Ahuh I know what you mean . I felt the same watching him too. They stick in your mind. But does it become more disproportionate when we read the stats? Which then also adds to us also thinking the bad is worse and we forget the good contributions.
Stats distort both ways

This doesn't get bought up enough in the Jetta argument. Whilst I do think he could try harder and his kicking is a little off, we recruited him because we want the ball in his hands to run and create. We should be looking to get it to him so he can run and take the game on, but as you said I've seen players burn him and when they should give him the cheapy because it makes us better.

Outside players need to get given the ball to be damaging. We recruited Jetta because we lacked outside outside speed in the run and carry department. We really need to give him the ball every time he runs past, make it easier for him to do his job and run through teams.
But even when hes been given it he hasnt even looked to take off and take the game on. He stands there and laces a teammate 55 away off 1 step. Sweet skills but hes kinda there to break a line and then kick it 55...

when things get tough I always notice wellingham running in hard for 1%'s trying to lift the team.

he might not be a game changer on his own, but it's an attribute i wish the rest of our team displayed

Not for me. Those kicks are the line breaking item. Immediately opens the whole field to the spread when he does a low flat pass 50+.

Sounds like he's not a bad set shot, might snag a few when resting in the fwd line
Well, his one set shot for the club so far he almost missed from the top of the goal square. :p

They dont really break the line though. They put us in a good position and play slightly opens up but its then on the player ahead to either stop or play on and make decisions. Ideally jetta runs 30 then kicks 55 over the next defensive line and we are well and truly out and in on goal

Heard Brady Rawlings on the radio this morning - explained that due to playing two wet weather games in a row Sheed didn't get as many miles in his legs as they would have liked so is playing another game for East Perth to get some more conditioning

You do realise that he sustained a very bad corkie in the hip/thigh area in the first quarter yesterday, which may have affected his kicking for the rest of the game? Not sure if this had a bearing but perhaps we are all being a bit harsh under the circumstances as believe playing on with a corkie (particularly if bad) is not the easiest thing to do without it having consequences on their normal playing style.

Hi.

Fair call...but Simo did roast him at 3qu time. Our more experienced players make terrible decisions under pressure...and alot of the time its only perceived pressure. We dont have anyone in our team that has elite composure....like say Mitchell . Hurn was very poor yesterday too.
