Why are we dropping Giles and not Vardy? Vardy looks like an athlete, but he hasn't actually contributed anything, and he's less competitive against proper rucks. If we are going with one, at least Giles is a big lump that goes closer to halving a ruck contest than Vardy does.
Vardy should do well against Boyd. Another positive off his is that he completed well up forward in the first half and if we can get the game on our terms more often this week, we can rest him at full forward and he will compete hard enough to free jk or bring the ball down to our smalls or even jk.

Probably because Vardy at least contributed on the weekend when forward as opposed to Giles who did absolutely nothing.

The logic in Giles playing as the sole ruckman ahead of Vardy is undeniable, however.

Only trouble is if playing one ruck, they need to play ruck or be on bench.

Also, nothing Vardy has done makes me think he's a threat of any type up forward.

Without Giles playing, Ryder would have had 200 hit outs instead of only 40 odd. So I wouldn't worry too much about the ruck situation in fact overall we did fairly well with the clearances. To win against the Dogs we must tackle convincingly and stop them getting the ball on so easily as they did last time. This is probably intent. If we let them move the ball freely there is no way we will beat them even if we play -5 ruckmen instead of -1 (I am not a mathematician and I am not actually sure how you do that).

Unless forced by injury I don't think we need to change a winning team. I think everyone contributed on the weekend, bar Giles but I think a bit of a revup from the coach should get a bit of improvement out of him. He's probably a little bit angry, upset, embarrased from getting killed on the wknd, he'll be looking to atone and might be able to dominate against bulldogs.

I can't see who I would drop for duggan as Hutch was pretty good on the wknd, really gave 100 percent and impacted contests. Took a good grab in a crucial play.

I'm of the view there is no reason (unless Priddis is not playing) that we should play both of Redden and Hutchings, and as such, Redden is the superior player and should be picked.

Hutchings out.

How did you spend the extra second you saved by skipping the 'e's in weekend?

We will not lack height and as stated the Doggies ruck stocks are low and I quite like the idea about bringing in Lamb for Giles. A bit left field but horses for courses and Lamb is certainly taller than the 193 cm stated on the site.

Lamb needs a run.

(Particularly given we see Karpany mentioned by some and if you want to see why he will never make it, watch the similar sized players from the Bullies on Friday night).

Not sure how some people calibrate but in my mind, pretty good does not equate to 8 kicks, 4 hand passes, 3 marks, zero scoreboard impact, 1 free kick against, zero 1%ers and 2 tackles.

You must value coralling impacts a lot high than me. And yes, stats do not tell everything. Yes he tried hard and yes he did a job but to call his performance pretty good is a big stretch.

Watching the game on Saturday when No. 8 bobbed up on the screen to take a mark and I thought.... "Redden!! That's the first time I have noticed him out there all day. Have they kept him on the bench for the first half and just now released him into the game". He had another two quick touches within a minute and from then on I don't remember him in the play for the rest of the day. This seems to happen every game he plays in. It's like he is invisible or something.

We need to come out with some fire in the belly this week. As I remember there might have been a match late last year against the dogs we may or may not have played well against. So we might have to rectify that.

Also I don't want to eat pitty eat 2 tubs of connisuer like I might or might have not done last time.

-redden and giles (alternatively this could be hutchings & vardy)
+duggan and karpany

Get some pace and youth into the team. Redden has offered nothing, seems to only play second halves. Absolute no need for two rucks against the dogs for mine.

I really want to see Karps get a game, he looks a player that will step up at AFL level after watching a few EP games this year.

Vardy for Duggan
Hutchings for Karps, frees up Mutimer to play more midfield and Karps to HFF

Out: Giles, Hutchings
In: Duggan, Karpany

Also wouldn't be against bringing in Cole for Butler, we could do with some of the run out of defence that Nelson has provided this year, but obviously he is injured, but I think Cole has a similar style and can break lines and get the balling going forward. While Butler was solid, his age is beginning to show and he tended to kill momentum a bit when he got the ball, and we need as much leg speed/quick ball movement against the dogs as we can. Probably won't happen, but I hope Simmo considers it.

Because Cole after what 1 or 2 games would add so much more than Butler would.

Please tell us this is a troll!
