A lot of hate for Sutcliffe on this thread but he was miles better than Ibbo. Ibbo has reverted back to 2012 form (where he cost us the final v Adelaide) where he is just on another planet to everyone else. He just seems lost causing him to make massive brain fades and look uninterested.

Would not be surprised if he got a massive spray at half time last week and he could very well be playing for his career this week if he isn't dropped. He is lucky Hughes is injured.

Sutcliffe is at least alert and committed to the contest. Despite his injury he put in a fair bit of effort in the last quarter last week, even if things didn't go his way. He showed far more fortitude than Ibbo did.

Yeah Ibbo's form is very concerning, I hold my breath whenever he has ball in hand at the moment.

We might want to persist playing Ibbo in to form though because he is one of only a couple that we might consider trading out that has some decent currency, as an AA40 squad member last year. If he can re-find his form we'll benefit if we trade him out with good currency or if he stays with having a good intercept defender on our list. Drop him for the remainder of the season and he'll just decrease in value, not re-find his form, and we lose either way.

Totally agree and at least Sutty tries to keep the ball moving unlike Ibbo that holds up every link that he's involved in.

Sutty is making no more mistakes than Spurr who somehow escapes critique every week.

Sutty is this years BF whipping boy.

I suggested trading him a few weeks back but now I seriously doubt anyone would want him. The whole league can see that his decision making is anti quick ball movement out of defence which every team values.

Rift between Roly and Suma?

They made changes to the roles of basically all our coaches to refresh them - could be yet another reason for the shocking year.

Have not heard anything about a rift with Suma seems universally liked and is about of longest serving coach.

Ibbo wasn't in AA form last year. The selectors were obviously blinded by selective memory, not reality.

If our club couldn't see what they now know about Hannath at the time of his contract renewal we're in deep shit. He hadn't shown potential, he'd shown exactly what he showed in the SANFL before we picked him up, and that was he is a slow lumbering trier that can impact at the lower level and provide depth for the league. But we had Sandi, Griff and Clarke in front of him with Moller and Apeness developing beside him. Most clubs have 3 rucks on their list or at the very most 4. Could we have used better? Maybe Adams or McGovern? I think so.

De Boer's contract extension effectively spelled the end of Ballard who I didn't rate but others did. We also have plenty of others on our list that offer exactly what De Boer offers I.e. A big body and inside grunt with poor skills and decision making. We should've been endeavouring to improve our deficiencies in skill and smarts instead of keeping hold of a bloke that had our deficiencies in spades and is hardly needed. Again, could that spot have been better used? Some would say Ballard would be ready now but there were other options available to us, again McGovern or Adams among others.

I think they were mistakes and totally lacked foresight and a total misunderstanding of our list. I'm certain they'd (the club) would be regretting the decisions now, neither are getting many opportunities despite our run with injuries and when they do, they don't do much. They're not in future plans and shouldn't have been 18 mths ago.

All good points.... Like you, I'm disappointed in the club's selection of players and trading/drafting policies. Was just trying to look for the positives..:$

Well you are the undisputed expert on being blinded by a selective memory.
As if a n00b would know. Stick around for a bit, you might learn something.

Ibbo has been dropped a few times by Ross in previous years for things like dropping out of contests and he'd come back and say he needed that rocket up his bum. So why do we find him back in this situation again? To me it just means he doesn't have the hunger needed at this level. I'd want to drop him and put more games into Tucker.

He'll be out for 2-4 weeks with a wrist injury regardless, so hopefully he finds some hunger and form in the mean time.

Tucker to come in, I think Clarke did well for Peel but he needs another consistent performance before considering another call up, If Mundy is fine he should work his way in too.

Out: Ibbo for Mundy
Out: Suban for Tucker

No other changes needed.
That's about right. We had 'sweeping' changes last week anyway, so having another 3-4 does seem a bit excessive. Clarke/Hannath is perhaps the other possibility as Griffin was about cooked by 4th quarter so he desperately needs a back up at times.

You're right about Walters and Ballantyne, especially for SonSon - people whining about his form in front of the sticks don't realise how much pressure he's putting on his body at the moment.

Ballantyne's suffering from a lack of height to crumb off in the forward line with one ruck and no Sandi. I also reckon he plays injured most of the time. There definitely needs to be some relief up front, so I can understand the calls to rush in Apeness as fast as humanly possible.

I think you could make a case for resting Balla for a bit and giving Grey another go in his spot.

I'm yet to be convinced re: Gray. I love his attack on the ball and the man, and he's got fantastic mental aptitude, but he's all over the place with ball in hand. But given Balla is hardly in the game himself, just give him a rest. Balla kills his body when he plays and he could do with playing 3/4 of the games that he does. If we just gave him the odd rest (not dropped to WAFL), Balla would then play less banged up when he does which would be good for him, and we also get to see if I'm totally wrong about Grey.

Doubt it would happen, especially this week, but I think the committee or whoever should consider it.

It will be tricky business "manufacturing" a loss this week. I hope we win so the owen jokes fade away. But i also hope this is our only win for the year. Mundy in...Suban out. Tucker in ...Ibbo out. Looking forward to seeing ape mora yarran and ubes play second half of the year.

Sub out, tucker in.

I think I saw the moment Ross decided (if it happens) this on the weekend. When Sub did one of his get caught with the ball moments. They showed the box and Ross gave a four letter word. I thought at the time, that Subs is gone this week.

He probably said "****. I need to get those photos he has of me off him so I can drop that guy" Only explanation he's gotten most of the games this year ahead of Grey.

Yes, the total domination in the final quarter was not helped by an exhausted ruckman. Would Clarke have made a difference, certainly in the ruck he may stopped some of the bleeding but the negative is the total lack of output around the ground and Clarke has nil goals this year - fair dinkum.

Apeness for mine is the real answer, he can ruck with quality way beyond the Taberner's (not bad though) and Johnson's that we have been forced to use. He could kick a goal too, the sooner the better for mine whilst I understand the reasons for the delay.
