Should survive at least this week as he is named on the ground, keep an eye on how he goes to see if he gets another game though.

Does getting named on the ground matter? Pretty sure they just scatter the names everywhere and remove whichever three they feel like.

It does matter, the 3 emergencies come from the extended bench. I think if they make a change to the "starting team" it has to be done officially with reason.

I've seen some fairly ludicrous team line-ups put forward when they go up on the AFL website. If you can pull someone out and replace them with an emergency without penalty, seems strange that the powers that be would be upset over being named on the bench and on the ground prior to finalizing the side.

I've seen Collingwood name Chris Mayne this year ... so me too. All I'm saying is, that's how its done

Not as bad as somebody swapping teams but still weird. I can understand other supporters sympathetic towards how horrible melbourne (like everyone was with fitzroy) were but to actually barrack for two teams is weird.
Yep. I despise all Victorian teams that aren't the Dees, and am apathetic towards all the interstate teams except maybe Adelaide because their colours are the same as my dad's old school but I don't care enough to actually want them to win the flag

Fair enough. I've never gone over it and back to it to check, so I'm probably wrong, even though I never, ever am.

That's 3 forward type players and ruck for 3 defensive players and a ruck

Pretty close to being bang on here.

I said (pre-Hogan news): OMac, Lewis, Pederson, Bugg FOR Smith, Spencer, ANB, Harmes

Reality: Lewis, Bugg, Pederson, OMac, Hannan FOR Hogan, Smith, Spencer, Stretch, Harmes

Am I on the match committee??

That's a pretty damned slow side. Like most others, I find the dropping of Stretch perplexing.

Just had a read of the stats the last couple of weeks, since Stretch started playing 'poorly':

Stretch:

Freo: 16 touches, 5 kicks, 1 tackle, 87.5% DE, 0 clangers
Tigs: 19 touches, 9 kicks, 3 tackles, 73.3& DE, 1 clanger

Melksham:

Freo: 10 touches, 10 kicks, 3 tackles, 50% DE, 4 clangers
Tigs: 17 touches, 11 kicks, 0 tackles, 64.7% DE, 2 tackles

I know stats aren't everything, but its hardly a ringing endorsement for our coaches not being Hirdy's boys club, is it?

Only defence there is they don't play the same position, and I didn't watch the Freo game but Melksham wasn't bad at all against Richmond.

Tbf to Melksham, I thought he had one of his better games last week. So I wouldn't drop him. Even though in the other games where he wasn't that good and mades some glaring errors, you could make a sound argument to drop him from those games. Stretch I think is a little bit stiff to get dropped.

Goodwin is taking the piss with Melksham now...how he gets a game I'll never know..he dropped Kent on the basis of no tackles yet melksham survives this week with no tackles and no inpact....enoughs enough goodwin
