Goodwin is taking the piss with Melksham now...how he gets a game I'll never know..he dropped Kent on the basis of no tackles yet melksham survives this week with no tackles and no inpact....enoughs enough goodwin
Think that's a pretty flawed argument. Hibberd was arguably our best player last week yet he had no tackles. With Kent being in the forward line, there would be a much bigger emphasis on tackling/pressure than in defence. I'd rather Melksham win his one-on-one contests as he did a couple of times last week than let his opponent get the ball first but have an ineffective tackle.

They play different roles - not the same.

I just want it on the record that I'm cross that Stretch has been dropped. Thank you.

I agree. His DE has been elite. He has been better than a few others that have held their spot. The Melkybar kid has taken his wing spot. He better pony up

Stretch is stiff, but he's definitely been down the last couple of week, he's still a young fella, and not big - we play a pretty bruising style of footy.

The Melksham comparisons are not only unfair after playing a pretty good game last week (in a completely different role), but he was also NEVER going to be dropped for the game against Essendon. I actually thought the week before that he may have survived with this game in mind.

Not as bad as somebody swapping teams but still weird. I can understand other supporters sympathetic towards how horrible melbourne (like everyone was with fitzroy) were but to actually barrack for two teams is weird.

Not so weird - I'm in Sydney for now, and also go for the Giants...because otherwise there would be no matches to go to live.

Melbourne is like the first wife that badly mistreats me. Occasionally strokes the thigh to excite, but has just fizzled out the past decade.

This is probably being discussed elsewhere but man it is nice to have Hibberd on board. Some of his kicks under pressure and even off balance were just super human.

I just heard from a lot of people that was the reason he was dropped..I dont think he should be dropped because of that...just that he has no influence..I mean what's his role in the team...I'm yet to fiqure it out

Melksham's role? To create opportunities to win the ball back from the opposition by giving the ball to the opposition.

I don't know why everyone has it in for Melksham. Apart from the Freo game I think he's been serviceable, which isn't bad considering he's been out of the game for 12 months and was asked to play a different role than he's used to for the first 4 weeks. The Richmond game showed that he's got a place in the 22, imho, so just suck it up for now and enjoy the ride.

I disagree. I think he was horrible v st kilda, Carlton and freo. He was not horrible vs Richmond. But as ive said elsewhere that is a low bar. I am picking on him because I think he's a really average player being gifted games by the coach, pick your own reason why. He should not be in the 22 imo, he does nothing well enough to actually play any position or role to the level required in the best 22 if a team wanting to play finals.

Excellent. In corporate terms he'd be a Pressure Facilitator.

Hibberd had 12 months off as well. He seems to have come out of it a better player. What's the different role? The only thing Melksham would be used to at this point would be sitting on the couch.

On Stretch, listening to Goody on SEN last night it sounds like it's probably a management thing rather than a performance thing. 5 days is a tough turnaround. Would expect it's the same with Harmes.

If we wrote 'rested' instead of 'omitted' no one would be freaking out. Same reason Hannan came straight back in.

That's why clubs have media departments. Why leave room for confusion? If he's rested, he's rested.

Goodwin said both hannan and weid 'needed a rest' after they wernt selected against richmond. Said the same thing about stretch last night. I agree they should have been more clear on the team sheet
