Prediction Changes v Essendon

Ah Chee has improved this year. Sam Gray has been asked to play a different role than the midfield one he was good at. The jury is still out on Toumpas.

Agreed re: Young though. I like the guy and thought he was going to have a big year. Wasn't the same after being ridden like a rodeo bull in the Showdown.
The point is in 2015 we thought S Gray had become elite but unfortunately he went backwards in 2016, and in 2017 he's been borderline.

Ahchee was the same, big end to 2015, then nothing in 2016. He has had good early season SANFL form, but most of our fans had given up on him 2 weeks ago, so I think he's going to need a lot more than 2-3 games before we can say he's arrived. He could just as easily drop away again near the end of the year and finish playing SANFL.

So my point is we need to start converting these players showing good development at times into consistent players.

So this GIF below, which shows Toumpas, in the first quarter, kicking the ball out on the full, somehow directly lead to Luke Breust kicking Hawthorn's first score 9 minutes into the second term? Get a clue, mate.

Toumpas has a higher ceiling as a linkman than Young. Other option would have been Wingard for Toupas and Young as a link up midfielder. That has been tried and didn't work too well as it's not Young's natural role.

Now Toumpas needs to look at how Mitchell played or how Sam Gray plays and change his game a bit. Perhaps he should ask Kane Cornes on how to go about doing that.

IMO he does have a high ceiling and the ball is in his court to make a role for himself in the current gameplan as he does have the basic tools to make it.

I can live with that change. Dimitri is playing for his career and he would know that. Beginning to think Gus won't get a chance to play AFL again.
Would love for Monfries and Eddy to get a game at another club. I hate seeing talent wasted.

Unlike the twos, the AFL arena quickly exposes an individuals weaknesses. Unless Youngy can add a few different strings to his bow, he will always be in and out of the best 22. Unfortunately, I think Jimmy falls into this category as well.

Sam was playing midfield in 2015 and is playing half-forward now. I think he's doing OK in that position, not 2015 impactful but they are different roles after all.

I don't mind Toumpas getting another crack but I would have been very excited if Atley got his debut.

Emergenices: Jake Neade, Willem Drew, Jesse Palmer

Told you that Drew was closer :)

Fair enough. We'll agree to disagree. I think he's a mile off. Young, Palmer, Atley, White, Neade, Monfries, Austin, Howard, Houston, Bonner, Eddy, Lobbe, Krak & Lienert would all be clearly ahead of him in terms of getting a game.

They are all in the mix...

He was a dead set joke at using the ball. Oh well. Don't know what Johnson, Atley Or Angus have to do.

What did you watch, the first quarter alone?

Toump did some great kicks after quarter time.

Have you watched the replay? I have and I'm no Toump lover but he impressed me.

He deserves his gig this week.

I still would love to see Monfries in though but I guess Ahchee can cover the role no problems.

This is close to our best side as we have named all year.

Speaks volumes that Neade has 2 good games and is an emergency yet there is no Eddy or Monfries there.

Happy with the change.

Toumpas started nervously, but was good for much of the night and deserved another game, while Young has been poor basically all year and needs to find form in the SANFL. Not sure why people are melting about any of this.

You could argue Monfries instead of Toumpas, but with the form they're both in, it's neither here nor there for mine.

Anyone (PAFC66, for example) putting Johnson's name forward needs to pay more attention to SANFL form.
The best game that Johnson has played for the club at any level was his only afl game, that is no surprise to me

Nope, just not complaining that a player wasn't replaced after a good game with someone clearly not able to play that position. ala Monfries or Bonner or Palmer on a wing.

Honestly I reckon Bonner would make a better wing than he does a half back.

4 clangers across half back leading to directly to Hawthorn scores. Watch it again.
Leading directly to Hawthorn scores you say?

I know PAFC66 is a bit of a campaigner sometimes, but he's right on this occasion. A Toumpas turnover on half back actually did lead to Breust marking and kicking that point. There was a soft free paid in between as well, if you feel like blaming the umpires instead.
