Champs what does McInnes bring to the team ?
Can hold an overhead marks , drops chest marks way to often and doesn't kick goals .... I fail to see what he brings to the team to help in the loss of Kennedy and the dropping of Brander.

He will bring more structure to the forward line than Brander will at this stage in their careers. When Darling missed all those games a few years back at the start of the season McInness straightened us up quite a bit with his leading patterns and timing when he played. Will be less likely to get out-marked by the Essendon defenders as well. Probably be able to run more k’s in our defensive structure and allow us the flexibility to run Lycett or Nic in a more permanent forward role should the coaches decide that gives us an advantage

McInnes needs to crash every pack and Bring the crumbles in
I prefer McInnes to Brander based only on his ability to crash a pack. Feel for Brander but without JK or Darling he and Waterman would just be too small to impact our long bombs.

Naitanui and Lycett need to roll forward and have an impact, Lycett is a capable forward in regards to good strong leads. Naitanui to cause havoc at ground level.[/QUOTE

Understand that but he has proven himself at the top level and he is more likely I think to grab a few marks forward than McInnes.
Yeah probably I think that they are worried about his durability. Also I think he needs more games at East Perth to be ready for the AFL again.

Well that's bullshit :thumbsdownemoji:

Replace our magnificent shiny first round draft pick who is too good for the WAFL with a 7 year rookie listed C grader in Mcinnes?

No worries. Big step backward in a year where we've backed our youth in and they've rewarded us. Hooker is going to take a shit on Fraser.

Really?

Are you like serious or taking the p!ss?

How do you think Hooker wojld go on a 2nd game like Brander when he doesnt have to worry about Kennedy?

How many first year players do you play in the same forward line before we lose our system and structure?

You can do it with one of Kennedy or Darling playing but both out is a total unknown. Hence we have looked to experienced, mature players as the kp forwards to maintain the structure. We still have Rioli, Waterman and Ryan as flankers in their debut seasons in the forward line.

We brought Schofield in for the exact same reason. To maintain structure so the likes of Hurn and others can play their role not the role Barrass plqys.

Hutch is in to lock down Merrett and because Sheed is out of form.

Come on DS you are better and smarter than this post mate!

Anyone worried about tomorrow night?
I was, now I'm calmer.

Can't wait to see our team with the two spear heads in to see how we adjust. I trust we have enough firepower to overcome the loss of JJK & JD

Schofield worries me in that he is playing after a very short break..... so its fingers crossed on him running the game out.

For once I am happy for Hutchings to get recalled...... otherwise I am pretty meh about the inclusions.

McInnes will bring more that an under sized / developed first year kp forward with 1 games experience. He can also ruck against the Bombers 2nd stringer and allow Lycett to play FF.

How would Brander fair against Hooker with no Kennedy to keep the Essendon defense worried?

I understand that mate, but like I said before I just think he is more of a tough match up and more likely to maybe take a few marks.

Totally agree......when Vardy is fully match fit. Im sure he and the club know where his match fitness level is at.

Hoping Vardy can keep building for the next month and start hitting his straps and be really fit come August to provide real quality depth.

Need to talk more about Sheed finally being dropped (omitted) for poor form - about time.

Goes hot and cold very easily - needs to be consistently good - his best is brilliant.

I
Ainsworth and Partington have been consistently playing well at East Perth. Sheed will need to play his best to keep them and Hutchings out. Having said that Hutchings has played up and down aswell.

They aren't the changes we deserve but they are the changes we need right meow.

Brander can at least take an overhead mark and ever more, an overhead contested mark.
I would think Cale Hooker would be rubbing him self up in pleasure tonight, in the knowledge that the overhead forward threat from WC is coming from McInnes ...that would be the same guy who cant even take an overhead contested mark in the WAFL .

Now for your second point...... IF and its a big if..... McInnes is in the side to give NN a chop out..... I can live with that as that gives Lycett or NN an opportunity to be a focal point up front , now that is something Hooker should be worried about.

As for the "he straightens us up argument" with out an overhead marking threat in our forward line, it doesn't matter one iota how straight we are..... because Hurley and Hooker are going to have a field day intercepting marks ...... I would have preferred the Sneezer in the team as he does have some high flying tricks and he is also dangerous on the ground.

Our small forwards are going to have to play out of their skins tomorrow night if the ball delivery is like it was last Friday night...... mids will need to lift their games big time if we are going to score enough points to win.

Funny how Venables and Petro were given a second game after poor to piss poor efforts in their first game and came back with a much better contribution in their second game.
Venables kicked three in game two.

Our forward line played shit, to a man, last Friday night ...... and yes I admit the delivery was atrocious ..... yet Brander is the only player to get shunted out of the team.
FFS that has shades on Ross Lyon / Matt Taberner all over it , the team wins you keep your spot we lose your out.

Its our backing of our youth that as helped us rise this year ..... well until now.
