I just wish our other small forwards had even half of the work rate and defensive side that Cripps has got. It's painful the way he butchers it at times, but he also does a lot of good things that others don't, so I am constantly torn on whether or not I want him in the side. I certainly couldn't drop him on the basis of tonight's game. He was far from our worst.
I disagree. I think he was very close to our worst. Half of his pressure acts is because he fumbled the ball first allowing his opponent to get it.

Sheed doesn't seem to have any friends. The linch mob has hung him twenty times over and roasted and barbecued him. And then everyone wants Hutchings back in who will be hated again as soon as he plays. There were a lot of poor players tonight including Rioli, Sheppard, Shuey, Cripps, Brander (shouldn't have played, bizzare or arrogant decision to pick him) Nelson, Ryan, Kennedy - the list could go on.

Out: Nelson, Brander (unlucky), Sheed (less unlucky)
In: Barrass if fit, if not Schofield, Ah Chee, Hutchings

B: Sheppard, Barrass/Schoey, Hurn
HB: Duggan, McGovern, Jetta
C: Gaff, Shuey, Masten
HF: Rioli, Waterman, Cripps
F: LeCras, Kennedy, Lycett
R: Naitanui, Redden, Yeo
I: Cole, Ryan, Ah Chee, Hutchings
E: Brander, Nelson, Sheed, whichever youngster plays well tomorrow

Harsh on Nelson who was alright tonight, but someone has to drop out of the backline.

Harsh on Brander, he showed glimpses and generally I think youngsters should be given a few weeks to find their feet, but rain's forecast and we're a bit top heavy up forward as it is.

Sheed's been poor since coming back from injury, the rocket he should have gotten from having been nearly dropped last week hasn't worked.

Riloi, Shuey, Ryan and Kennedy all have enough points in the bank. Nelson I thought actually had a good game, so not sure why you listed him. Cripps should probably be dropped along with Sheed.

I wouldn't mind seeing Cripps-Sheed out for Petrucelle-Ah Chee as a starting point. Think those boys need to find some touch.

Close thread.

Seriously can’t understand the calls for Nelson to be dropped. Had some poor moments but was certainly no orphan tonight. Senior players like Jetta were worse tonight

Reopen thread just to close thread again.

IN: A forwardline plan for Darling's absence – because tonight was a turd lasagne
our mids were beater after quarter time but our kicking forward was dum as dumb. the only focus was kennedy who could be cripple teamed as waterman and brander were all at sea. Sydney got goals by separating minor forwards in space. Sio while Hurn was a winner and Gov, etc ok we were beaten as a team in defence

In the final analysis we didn't work anywhere hard enough all the time and were a man down as Brander was like lambs too the slaughter. Good kid but last night wasn't his bets opportunity and he was hopelessly exposed.

Willie was magnificent in the first quarter but later exposed for endurance. Shuey and Ryan well under done but tried.

Nic was a beast but we didn't leverage our ruck advantage as our mids were destroyed on the spread

It looked like finals pressure and a simple well coached strategy to negate out strengths. Not sure JK is a big game player

Ah Chee would’ve made a much better fist of that game than Sheed. Worst on ground for sure.

Will we ever use Ah chee is Sheeds role?

He wanted more midfield time and has yet to play in the centre square.

Agree Sheed is down on form. So if Ah chee comes in thats fine but lets give him a crack in the guts.

" because he fumbled the ball first allowing his opponent to get it."
That sums up Cripps perfectly. Biggest fumbler in the team and constantly puts us under pressure instead of being in an attacking position.
Needs to be coached out of this trait and/or dropped.

I would be looking to drop Sheed and Jetta

"Jetta is still running around half assed out there like he just doesnt give a f*&k. Just no desire. Thats 2 games back to back now where he just looks like he cant be bothered. Send him to East Perth until he finds some intensity and actually looks interested."

Couldnt agree more. Lacks intensity and his showmanship is costing us big time.
Hasn't fired a shot since we got him from Sydney.
Needs a real kick up the arse and if he doesn't respond - bye bye.

Really hope they don’t drop Brander after stupidly bringing him into last night’s game. Was never needed against Sydney and we don’t want to **** with young KPP minds by dropping them after a game like that.

Sheppard Barrass Hurn

Duggan McGovern Cole

Masten Redden Gaff

LeCras Kennedy Waterman

Ryan Brander Lycett

Naitanui Yeo Shuey

Ah Chee Jetta Rioli Petrucelle

Out: Sheed, Nelson, Cripps
In: Ah Chee, Petrucelle, Barrass

Obviously Sheed is either carrying an injury or outof form. Either way back to the WAFL with him. Ah Chee in for him to spend time in the middle.

Nelson is unlucky but makes way for Barrass.

Cripps needs to regain form and we need Pet's speed.

The risk with this team is that there are a lot of youngsters who can be hit and miss.

Possibly Cripps stays in and Brander is given more WAFL time.

Maybe both Hutchings and Ah Chee comes in for Sheed and Cripps

I don't think so.
Jetta > Nelson atleast Jetta can kick well. We are expecting too much from jetta he played HBF not wing not mid. He isn't expected to touch it hes expected to defend like Duggan

Jetta can’t play wing or mid as he is not good enough to do so and his kicking has been poor all year. One or two little efforts of class is not enough from a 10 year senior player. Needs to be dropped permanently as he is a certain failure come the finals.

IN - Hutchings / AhChee , Barrass

OUT - Sheed Brander

The club need to realise that Brander will stay regardless we don't need to play him before he is ready . ( Hindsight is great I know though )

Upon reflection, I was perhaps too hasty in my calls for changes after the match. But FMD that was frustrating.

I agree good squad
Sheppard Barrass Hurn

Duggan McGovern Cole

Masten Redden Gaff

LeCras Kennedy Waterman

Ryan Brander Lycett

Naitanui Yeo Shuey

Ah Chee Jetta Rioli Petrucelle

Last years finals series indicates otherwise.

Ok - no big changes - we thew Brander to the wolves - is he resilient enough to be kept in? Or is he better taking a lesson back to the WAFL. Showed glimpses of real class but got lost at times.

Despite my post-game hand-wringing, there's probably a case for no change or very minimal change. I think we have to stick with Brander, but also consider Hutchings and/or Ah Chee.

My preference would be for Barrass to just come back in at the expense of one of the defenders. Honestly not sure which one, thought Cole, Duggan and Nelson were some of our best. Nelsons unlucky turnover not withstanding.

Thought we lacked targets all night and would be reluctant to drop Waterman or Brander because i get the perception that the restricted space hurt their leading power (like it hurts Franklin).

I thought Nelson was ok except for 2 turnovers.

I thought Jetta provided heaps and was always trying to create run, he was sometimes caught at bad times after putting a massive effort in to see the ball come his direction. It's hard to repeat sprints over and over and can make it look like he's jogging. His kicks i50 weren't up and under, they were hard and flat and he got it there very quickly, the problem was we needed a ruckman there or to man up the loose player.

The fact the SCG is so small means the Swans miss were never far from covering the lanes. Even our players lowering the eyes still turned it over, it was quite poor, our mids were out gunned.

Overall stats say Sydney ran an extra 8kms to the Eagles.

Second week in a row we've been blown out of the water on the ground.
