Prediction Changes V Essendon

Jack Darling (ankle) 5 weeks
Malcolm Karpany (ITB friction) TBA
Eric Mackenzie (toe) test - Played on the weekend
Tony Olango* (ankle) test - Played on the weekend
Daniel Venables (ankle) 2-3 weeks

That is 3 on the injury list and a sore JK with only one of those as a best 22 with Venners on the fringe.

As long as we dont get any more injuries we should look good heading into the finals.

Shuey and Ryan looked rusty as hell but which is no surprise as they not played for a while ( Shuey 5 and Ryan 8) but they should be better for it.

Yep some fans were bagging Shuey have short memories, he missed 5 weeks and played a red hot team like Sydney. He will be better for the run same for Ryan.

WE needed more mids v Sydney. Nelson is not giving us enough and I am a big fan of Sheed but he was lamentable. Cripps is not kicking enough goals for a small forward and we already have Lecras Willie and Ryan. Lycett and Nic can spend more time forward

Nelson did plenty of good things against Sydney, deserves to keep his spot. Jetta firmly on notice

Defensively nelson wasn't great, there small forwards kicked a few. Jetta kicking out from goal relieves hurn, that kick that hit masten was awesome. WE know he needs to be more but he is there to allow us to release hurn, I would pick him ahead of nelson at this stage

Breaks are overrated. Sydney had a 6 day break, beat us off a bye. Fremantle did the same to Carlton. Ainsworth has a tank, ahchee is building fitness, both could play this week.

We brought him in against Sydney: a super hard task. Now we drop him at home against easier opposition?

May as well stick with him till Darling gets back and find out if he has what we need.

Sheed has been rubbish for weeks now, i'd bring in AhChee and play him in the guts where we recruited him to play. If we need a tall forward coz Kennedy is out, bring in Vardy.

Don’t drop Brander after only one game.

The way my Boy Jarrod Brander played below his knees in the wet conditions East Perth V West Perth should allay all fears that being a tall will limit his ground running and his skills below his knees, if it rains.
Those who watched that game will back this up.

Similarly I watched him down at Moss Street earlier in the year when EP v EF in the wet slippery conditions earlier in the year. JB played very well at ground level and from memory kick 3 goals.

JB has a big tank and runs far and wide all day hence the comparisons to him and Saint Nick Riewoldt , rain won’t hamper his efforts.

Whilst his 5 possessions were nothing spectacular last Friday I would like to see him get another game.

As a general comment our ball movement into the forward line against Sydney was “so shit” you would be a hard task master to pay out on the forwards based on that delivery .

Yep agree, Achee is the big body that can play in the guts, Hutch/or petrcacellue love his pace, Barras definitely shows how critical he is to the team, it made Hurn, Gov and Shep defend alot more one on one.

I think Ah Chee is a good 7th forward (who would end up spending a lot of time running through the middle). Can provide an option out of the backline, and also play a role around the clearances.

Gotta stick with Brander now. You need to give him a chance to regain confidence this week. It's always hard to beat Sydney, in Sydney, on their Auskick size oval, after a break and bringing back a few players.

People argue that the break freshens players, but it really disrupts momentum.

People who don't want Hutchings in this week, would love to hear why you wouldn't want him in to tag?

Their prime movers in the midfield this year are Zerrett and Heppell (not sure on his fitness this week after concussion) - both have struggled to break a tag or to lift under close attention this year.

Other than these two there's mostly yoof picking up the slack, other than some honest triers in Myers and Devon Smith.

For most matches I'm pretty keen to back Sheed's development over Hutch, even if he stinks it up a bit sometimes. But the benefits of shutting down one of their better mids this week is wayyy too promising to pass up.

Hutchings tagging should be a good thing as he also gets his share of the ball. The problem is that more often than not, he then turns it over. So, in effect he is stopping one of the opposition guns from getting as much ball and then doing their job for them by giving it to one of their team mates. There have been games where his disposal has been more effective and as he gives his absolute all you can't help feeling hopeful that form will continue but...sigh! Oh well at least he is a competitor and can run and tackle and make position around the ground. Not a bad player but when there are several options you tend to go with the ones that use the ball well...….except for one well known player of course.

We played poor footy and only lost by 15 points to one of the best sides, at a home ground we are allergic too. No need to freak tfo and make too many changes.
