Well that's bullshit :thumbsdownemoji:

Replace our magnificent shiny first round draft pick who is too good for the WAFL with a 7 year rookie listed C grader in Mcinnes?

No worries. Big step backward in a year where we've backed our youth in and they've rewarded us. Hooker is going to take a shit on Fraser.

INB4 McInnes kicks 5

Fraser has played 12 games and he's clearly a cut below AFL standard. His experience isn't exactly reliable.

I do appreciate what you're saying though, i'd rather they went smaller in the backline and pushed McGovern forward again.

Re-jig the team so there's no need for Mcinnes at all.

I think the games Fraser has played at AFL level has been that of a floating HF or ruck which doesn't suit his strengths. He has played his best footy in the WAFL at HF/FF. He can clunk a mark and kick a goal. I think 1v1 in the goal square Fraser has more presence and influence than Brander. All he needs to do is kick 2-3 goals and he's done his job. If he fails in the next few weeks then put a line through him. I'm prepared to back him at this stage.

Putting Gov forward robs our half-back line of a top intercept marker and a great rebounder. What you gain up forward gets cancelled out by what you lose at half back.
Hurley and Hooker is going to have an absolute FIELD DAY without any talented tall forwards making them accountable.

Fraser is a lumbering giant who players WAFL, and he's going to lead the charge with Waterman against 2 AA defenders?

Would rather rob the backline of McGoverns marking and add Schofield.

It's called damage control.

The only disappointing thing about these changes for me is the Hutchings/ Sheed merry-go-round.

I love your optimism but the most McInnes has kicked for EP this year is 2 goals. And now before people say he has been mainly in the ruck. his WAFL career stats are just under a goal a game - 107 games and only 104 goals.

This is a mischaracterisation of McInnes. Contested marking isn't his strength, nor is he quick enough to get separation. He gets marks via work rate and size (relative to WAFL opponent).

How is giving games to a 7 year rookie depth player better for us as a team than backing in "the best tall from last years draft"?

We've seen what Brander can do in the WAFL, now let him be exposed to AFL football. Giving him one game then dropping him immediately is pointless IMO.

With no bounce off the half-back line, it won't get to Gov. I think given the form line of Vardy and the inexperience of Brander this is the best we could do. Anyway no JK and JD ruined us.

Wouldn't read too much into McInnes being named full forward tbh. Fully expect him to play mostly ruck, with Lycett/Nic spending more time forward

Yeah so he can take a mark and 1v1 we jut need a contest. Either bring it to ground or keep Hurley busy (preferably both).

Exact situation why a guy like McInnes is on the list. Showed in the GWS game he can play a role when needed. He was even held out if the WAFL last week yet people are surprised?

Brander got a taste, its hardly the end of the world for him.

I don't think it is anything against Brander, we can't afford to have to many immature key targets in our forward line. Just needs to create a contest to bring the smalls into play. As others have mentioned McInnes is a C grader but has always played his role well when called upon.

If you think McInnes can clunk a mark, then we have been watching a different player.

Here is my tip -

Schofield back is good
Would have liked Brander to be given another week.
Yeah true missing from out best 22 is

Barras - Schofield
Darling - Fraser Mac
JK - Nelson

Hutch stays in for now and Sheed/Achee will have to fight and perform in the WAFL to earn their spot
