Statement early in the season needs to be made if we want to show we have the attitude of a serious team...Not that it will happen.

• JK out for Banch (JK is a net liability almost every week)
• LMac out for Hardeman (if the best you can do is fight and scrap to halve a contest, with no point of difference and no ability to start a dangerous chain, then the game has gone past you. I love LMac the guy, but LMac the player lost me a couple of seasons ago).
• Grif out for Georgy boy, make do with one less tall down back for this week. Tell all defenders they need to be more physical than they've ever been, and to get on their bikes to break open play at every opportunity, use it as a weapon coming out of defense. If we feel like we need like for like, then throw in Whit (yes he's been training forward, but he and Bath can swing as required) - in that case Georgy comes in for Tommy or Jy.

I'm also fine giving:

• Urq a go at the expense of Tommy or Jy.
• Whit a game to rest Josh if needed. (If we still want the replacement tall down back, then bring in Shotgun, ready or not).

I'm torn, but I want to give a block to Dov, Blamires and BGZ, so (nervously) persist ATM.

Goater can take Caleb's spot as soon as we are confident he has a full game in him.

Turn it upside down, give the young guys the keys. I can't do another season of old guys stinking it up. I can't see a scenario where we get to the point of saying 'we played too many young blokes, if only LMac/Caleb/Tommy/JK were in the team we would have won that game'.

In his 4 career games last year he averaged 6 disposals, and 0.2 goals and 0.8 tackles a game.

Don't get me wrong I'm not writing the kid off yet, but I'd probably like to see him tear apart some VFL regular season games this year before he gets a look-in at the AFL level.
