Preview Changes V Essendon

We came back the next day.

We need 3 or 4 changes.
We play Saturday night, recovery time should not matter that much. Both teams played on the Sunday and both travelled, ours obviously further.

Hardeman, Wardlaw, Banch and I would bring in 1 more purely for some outside speed such as a Hansen jr or Scott.

Logue, Dovaston, Darling to Miss and 1 more, probably Duursma. 6 day break and a rest off long travel will do no harm to JD or Dov.

Agree on JD or Dov.

Dawson comes in for mine.

B:Blamires Pink Whitlock
HB:McKercher Comben Parker

C:Stephens FOS Hardeman

HF:Banch Larkey Sheezel
F:Curtis Trembath Duursma

R:Xerri LDU Wardlaw

I: Daniel Powell Darling Hansen Zurhaar

  • Sheezel to have a spell from heavy midfield duties and focus on generating good entries and goals up forward.
  • Duursma to float high up the wings and work back towards goal.
  • Hardeman to return and play higher up the ground.
  • FOS to run with Merrett.
  • Banch to return replacing Konstanty
  • Hansen to enter to play as a utility small off the bench.
  • McKercher returns to the backline so we can get some movement going from the back half.

We lose this and we may as well cull and and start from 0 again.

Generally feels like there is more sensibilities in the MRO and umpiring in general this season.

The serious howler decisions seem to be on a decline.

In the Comben situation, that would ordinarily be weeks in years gone past, but they recognize the circumstances around it this year. I'm just glad we didn't have to get the Roos lawyers involved, so the Roos version of Denis Denuto will get the week off.

Daniel to half forward, looked more suited there. Kerch back. George 60% game time to allow Harry to roll forward more. Dawson in to play on 2 meter pumpkin eater. Hardeman for a left field match up for Caddy. He will be too quick and agile for anyone else.

Out: Konstanty, Logue, Simpkin

In: Dawson, Wardlaw, Hardeman

I think this is the perfect game for JD to have a rest. He’s had a big preseason and the travel to Perth. It’s time to reward Whitlock’s form/development.

I mean, this is the exact reason we recruited JD - to develop our young KPP forwards, so let him take a step back and give the young man a chance to shine while he’s fresh and under the roof.

Larkey, The Bath and JW make our key forwards quite nimble and quite hard to match up on.

F: Banch. The Bath. Dovaston
HF: Curtis. Larkey. Whitlock
C: Stephens. FOS. Daniel
HB: Parker. Comben. McKercher
FB: Hardeman. Pink. Parker

F: Xerri. LDU. Sheezel

B: Wardlaw Blamires. Zurhaar Powell and ?

He flops, but he doesn’t flop and stay down like he’s just been handled. Was my point.

That rattled him and I’ve watched enough of him to know you only rattle him in that scenario if you have absolutely flushed him.
If someone runs flat out or even 80% at you and you put your forearm, elbow or the heel of your palm up to protect yourself then it'll hit them flush most likely and if its in the right space it'll drop them. You can see Reid feeling his face where he got hit on the ground.

The thing that saved Chom was he didn't even move his feet into the impact. He was walking and at the last minute put his arms up and you can see Reids elbow heading toward Chom's midriff.

Forward line absolutely the least of our worries.

Id go as far as saying its in the top 6 in the comp.

In saying that, it can improve by removing Konstanty.

Larkey has had a great 2 games but that's about it. Curtis has been solid, Trembath similar. Other than that, Zurhaar is a couple of moments player, smalls non-existent and Darling is on the edge of retirement.

Essendon are getting belted from pillar to post in the media this week.

Expecting to get 'ambushed' early this week, as this will be their grand final.

We better be up for the fight, because the next 2 weeks are so important for Clarko's future.
4-2 is the minimum.

Anything less should be sayonara.

This week is going to tell us which team plays for their coach, and which doesn't.

If either team doesn't get up, it's a huge indicator that the coach has lost the players.

Clarko brought Shotty in to debut against Essendon a few years ago and sent him straight to Wright. 2024 ROUND 11

I just went back to check the stats (it was round 10, not 11. Stupid "opening round" nonsense).

Anyway, the first thing that popped up was this;
