Preview Changes V Essendon

After the weekend, you couldn't possibly back us to even beat the blind school right now.
it won't be a popular opinion, but I think the angst on here is a bit overdone.

The emotional let down arises from the belief before the game that we should win, not what happened on the day. West Coast were wooden spooners last year - on what I saw, I don't think they will be this season.

They played a physical, uncompromising game, and it caught us napping after quarter time - lots of stray elbows, the odd knee, Harley giving out the aggro. We got going again in Q4 when the game opened up but it was too late.

I was glad to see Xerri and Comben cranky at training - we need more edge.

I feel that footysmarts-wise, Goad is well ahead of Dawson. I have never really gotten the buzz around Dawson. Seems slow on the uptake of the game.
Agree. I reckon Goad will be built for the modern game, particularly with the recent rule changes. Could be the next Jackson, but without the shit jumper.

Firmly tongue in cheek Merlin. I was very disappointed, but we go again against *.
And sure West Coast played very well in Q2 and Q3 and will be a different proposition over there for other teams, but just disappointed we couldn't show the same desperation and workrate.

I honestly don’t think they played that well.

I think we just started celebrating and made it look like it was piss easy…and we just got left with our dicks in our hands.

PA was an arm wrestle for two quarters. Sunday everyone was done after that early jump. Clearly putting the foot down has not been practiced

They'd probably make better decisions than us off the half back :D
Well they had those long odds as I heard their leading goalkicker’s guide dog is in doubt with a leg injury

Good……I’ll take that news and throw it in with the empty packet of twisties
Just as long as we win this weekend…that’s all l want…..to watch that bunch of supporters finally realise …yes your club is absolutely *@$%$#&@
That in itself with a hopeful win will be most satisfying.

I have absolutely no expectation to win this week.

Unlike last week, when I assumed (!!) that we could play two good games in a row against awful opposition, the Don’s hoodoo will continue, even with the worst team they have assembled since doping scandal.

Dons by 38 and the full brunt of the media machine bearing down on Clarkson and the players.

Looking back at all these close finishes - the one thing that is a consistent theme is just the lack of composure and smarts from our players.
Maley taking 40 seconds to kick. The lack of numbers in our d50 to clog up space.

And the less said about Atley's kick into the middle of the ground the better.

We actually embrace the chaos theory that is being thrown at us in all 3 outcomes.
And that is why there is doubt about this week because we get sucked into embracing the end to end chaos every time and their crowd gets them across the line.

Last week showed we dont have the bodies or the maturity to see off challenges like this.

The media has gone hard at them this week. I am not confident at all that we are guarantees to win.

For what its worth....

Out: Logue, Duursma, Dovaston
In: Corr, Hardeman, Wardlaw
  • Banch and Dawson emergencies
  • NO WAY Simpkin gets dropped. Had 23, wasnt great but always bounces back strongly.
  • Wardlaw on managed minutes plays mainly forward

ANYONE thinking Essendon are a chance........Come on!!! They are seriously stinky. Way worse than us. This talk of robust meetings and clearing air? Pfffft!! Media nonsense trying to pump this up. They are on the ropes. No confidence, coach has lost the players. At least we have shown a bit......we'll win this by more than we beat Port.

Lordy Lordy.

Remember the preseason fapping about "depth"?..

Simpkin bounces back, who cares? Scrubber may have 23, which means 5 goals to the oppo included in his 6-7 unforced turnovers/stupid holding the balls/completely ****ing up a decent opportunity for us.

Genuine turnip. And disinterested headband wearing flog these days. The sooner he's ****ed off the better.
