IN: McCarthy.
OUT: Harley.

I would have also loved to have put Ling on the OUT, but that will never happen. I could have put Callan on there too, but I don't think one AFL game one week and then back to the VFL next week is not good.

Out: Everyone
In: Bannockburn 2nds

No, I kid.

But there's gotta be big reforms with this side.

Batchelor (?Spelling)...gotta be work a go. Perhaps a red head for a redhead?

Hunt is lucky to be in the side. From what I hear the twos are going OK.

Pretty much agree with that.
Let NA have one more week.
I think we would be too tall though with that team....

Give Nablett 1 more week??? god your gay, i thought he did ok on the weekend, yes he is raw but the only way he is going to learn is to be out there and play the game.. give him time, he not going to turn it on.. but, i do say this.. Nablett did as much on saturday as kent kantkickkinglsey did in 5 weeks.. Nablett is the answer, give him time to mature, he will win a flag for us

That was a dumb thing to say.

I mean his old man couldnt "win us" a flag.

I agree with giving him more time, and he did present well (too bad tho, he was mostly ignored, imo), but lets not go nuts!!

Yep, if he doesnt do much, try another young kid.
god your gay
Sure am pretty boy, wanna make something of it? W@nker.

Did I ever say he didnt? You sir, are an idiot. I never said he didnt. i want to play young kids to see who can perform and who cant.

and who was take Harley's place in defence ?
Leave Mooney at CHF.

OUT : Harley [inj],Hunt,Dog
IN : Spencer,Tenace,Wojcinski [leave him in for awhile]

* I'm assuming Ricco won't be fit
* Don't play King even if fit.Coming back from a calf injury and straight away playing on the rock hard TD surface will only see him out longer.

Only 1 change this week, Spencer in for Harley(hopefully). I know he's pumped for a chance in the ones. Thats unless Thompson gives Ling a well earned "rest" in the VFL.

Don't understand the continuing Hunt bashing as he had another solid game and was better than a lot of other guys. Regardless, coaches that have a clue won't drop him.

Constant mistakes under pressure do Hunt no service...this has become very evident since his good season in 2004.

He is one of a few at Geelong...

You bag Ling yet defend Hunt.Ling kept Embley quiet for the 3 qtrs he played on him.Yes his last qtr was a shocker [not on Embley at the time].

Hunt has been a shocker for 5 weeks.

One can only dream. Let's get his first of 500 games out of the way!!!

GO ROGER!

Care to back that up with a bit of proof?

Hunt was on Chick for majority of the game and Chick had 0 impact in any quarter. Hunt had 21 posessions of high quality.

Ling..

1. Ling played a great portion of the game in the midfield and had 12 posesions and 3 tackles. He is the king at getting cheap posessions and he managed 12?? PATHETIC!

2. I don't have access to more stats but I'm guessing he had no clearences or hard ball gets and his posessions were of little to no impact (ie. the usual sideways cr@p).

3. Are you saying Ling was good for 3 quarters? When we were playing well in the 1st half Ling had nothing to do with it.

We've got to keep Nablett in the team. Give him space in the pocket and kick the ball to him or bomb it to the square for Cam with Gaz or Chappy crumbing. Bring Spencer in for Harley...he looked ok in the NAB cup games. Forget Lonergan and Gardiner because they will always be fumblers and slow to dish off if they do get it in their hands. Make it a rule that anyone with a mark or free kick inside 50 must have a shot and form a wall across the centre incase they miss. Maybe experiment with Milburn to CHF.

Couldn't agree with you more. Ling's job on Embley was very good...

Hunt has been very average in 2006. He started off 'okay', but seeing as we were winning there was hardly a weak link. In Round 3, he did a reasonable job on Mark Williams but from then on he has been shocking.

In 2004, I used to get excited when he had the ball in his hands for the kick-in. Now, I pray that they give it to someone else.

As I have said in many threads, we have some players who, under pressure, crumble. Hunt is one of them.

Is Ling gunna be your new whipping boy?

I would agree with that if we had a better option to come on. If only Prismall was available with some form behind him.

What is the news on Harley. Will he be availble. I've heard no real reports.

In: McCarthy,
Out: Harley

We have the backline without Tommy to cover their forwards when without Lloyd and Hird.

The forward line worked well with Mooney at Chf ( i have been told by all of you that this would never work ) and NAblett at FF. Persist.

The onballers are my next target. Ling is Wayne Campbell in disguise. They (as a group ) are slow and refuse to run hard. They play 10 metres off there opponent and refuse to close them down when we don't have the ball. Watching the game on Saturday, they just stand there watching there opponent. They are very reactive. Kelly, S Johnson and Ling just jog around. Even when we get the ball, G Ablett and Chapman are the only 2 players who run hard and put the opposition under pressure.

Trade Corey "Apple" Enright and Cameron "Wayne Campbell" Ling.

I believe there is - Kane Tenace. And play him as a tagger. I think you'll agree there's a slight difference in speed between him and Ling.

For what it's worth I'd love to drop Johnson and Kelly also. Far too lazy and complacent. Look at the difference between say Callan and Stokes in the way they play. Absolutely desperate because they know they'll be the first ones dropped. I wish that could ever apply to Kelly and Johnson. And especially Ling.

absolute BLESSING for the cats this week!

geelong are completely out of form, confidence shot to pieces, forwards are producing nothing

such a convenient time to come up against the almighty bombers

this week:
-essendon to play the cats back into form
-geelong to make the 8 after a confidence booster
-kingsley to kick 7

seen it all too often before

Keep the younger guys in and give them an extended run to see how they go. This year is pretty much over as far as a serious finals tilt goes, so coaching staff needs to see how the team can be changed to make it more competative in 2007.

NAblett was pretty good on Saturday - his kicking let him down a little, but he caused more concern for the Weagles defence than Kingsley would have.

Mark Blake did a pretty good job against the #1 ruckman in the comp. Steven King's body is gone, so Blake deserves a chance to stay in the side.

Bring in Travis Varcoe. GAblett Jnr should play much more on the ball, leaving Varcoe as the small forward with Chappy.

Bring in Monica - he might occasionally spray a kick or two, but at least he takes players on and tries to attack.

Ling is at the crossroads - he gives us nothing as an attacking player. Send him back to the VFL or give him a run-with defensive role.

Try McCarthy at CHF. We can't do any worse than we have been, although credit to Mooney for a great first half at CHF on Saturday.

And my choice for captain in 2007? Jarad Rooke - the only player that has given 100% for 100% of all games this year.

Agree with all of that, except for two things:

1) By all acounts, Varcoe is not ready. He was drafted as a bottom age player and is still getting over a very serious injury, so I think he needs to stay in the magoos and get some match time and confidence. It would be worth thinking about giving him 2-3 games at the end of the season, but not yet.

2) Bring McCarthy in, but keep Mooney at CHF. Moons was great on Saturday, and has been whenever he's been up there this year. I would play the Big Mac off the bench or in a pocket.

I would also bring in Spencer this week for Harley - in the magoos the guy won the B&F last year and keeps getting in the best this year, and hasn't had a single game. What else does he have to do?? Put him in and find out if he can cut it.

Finally, aside from Blake, N Ablett, Spencer and McCarthy, we also need to give Lonergan, Koula, Prismall when he gets back, DJ, Mackie and maybe one or two others I've forgotten some decent game time this year to see once and for all if they have what it takes. They've all been around long enough now. I'd also consider promoting one or more of Batchelor, Sheringham, S Hunt and Slade (by putting King and Harley on the long term injury list to get them right), to see how they might go in the senior side. Then at the end of the year clean out the ones who aren't up to it.
