Just saw the coaches votes from Saturday - Stanton 7 votes.

So Knights and Roos must have liked his game, but they obviously weren't watching him as closely as you were.
Thats twice this year I have seen this and both times these computer geeks continue to bag him, I'd say theres a huge chance of him being ommited this week:D. Do any Stanton bashers want to comment on this?:confused:

Johno - Pears (I think John has lost a step and this would be a good challenge for young Tateworm)
Welsh - Slatts ( if Welsh plays)
You'd flip a 190cm full back onto a 180cm small forward, and a 180cm small back onto a 188cm forward.
Without saying that's completely illogical, I see a complete lack of logic in that. Pears - Welsh would seem a pretty good match up. As would Hooker - Minson. Looks like a few of our defenders will have a bit of freedom to push up and get involved. Slatts (if he's fit) would go to either Aka or Johnson, preferably aka, with Dempsey getting the other.
Just want to see someone knock the s*** out of Johnson. Can't stand the constant appeal to umpire "oh he just hit me" act.

Worked with Presti on Johnno last week.

We don't exactly have too many other options for Welsh in the 22 and why would we waste our best defender on a forward who isn't very dangerous, we will most likely played Mcphee on him.

As for Eade predicting a 50-goal shootout at Etihad Stadium - he has to be kidding himself, surely? This would probably be the worst possible result for us if this occurs. We have tall forward line targets who on their day can kick bags of goals, but I think they have more forward line options which can hurt us, especially with Monfries out of the side. I can see 16 or 17 goals winning this game.

Of course he's kidding. He'll be focusing on shutting us down, especially after his side leaked so many early goals last week. The dogs will still be offensive but they won't want a shoot out (even though they'd probably win that).

From memory Terry Wallace said a similar thing in the lead up to the ultra flood of 2000.

It's my opinion which I am entitled too....

All I'm saying is in my opinion Stanton, who has been in the AFL system long enough now, has poor desposal, the defensive side of his game is poor and I believe he isn't hard enough at the footy.

I think Stanton can be a much better football player than what he is currently giving us at the moment.
Getting 30 touches in a game these days means nothing, it's what you do with them that matters....

I don't care if he is only 23 as some say on here.... Joel Selwood is only 20-21 and there is daylight between him and Stanton.

I just would like to see him work harder at the 1% of his game because he can be a very good player for us, which is all I want to see :thumbsu:

We have been an ordinary side for too long now and Stanton should be in the best nearly everyweek considering how young our team is.
The question is would he be as good or even get a game in St Kilda's side or Gellong!!!

HULK HOGAN - if you are refering to me as a geek of any kind I would change your name because I stopped watching wrestling when I was 7, just about the same time I started to play footy

I'm not a Stanton basher It's just my opinion like it or not!!

Slatts on Johno, now that's a match up that has worked in the past :rolleyes:

The logic of Tateworm on Johno is old man johno isn't as fast as he used to be but still bodies well and is still useful taking a mark. A bigger bodied Pears would be able to negate some of these strengths Johno still has.

LOL - one of your funniest posts yet.

There is a humour board here on Big Footy though. Probably best you post this sort of stuff there rather than on the footy boards where we try to discuss things related to football.

Thanks.

All hail King Stanton. The greatest player to EVER wear the number 5 jumper. An "A+++" Grade midfielder who doesn't need to improve his game as he is the most "damaging" player at Essendon who has the hardness of Judd, the skills of Ablett and the running capability of Craig Mottram.

Get a grip will you. All the guy is saying is that he has areas to improve. I think the club have realised this and together they are putting in an effort to do so.

If you read his previous posts, you would understand that he actually wanted Stanton dropped this week. That makes him a comedian.

Every player has areas they need to improve in.

Well said :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Lol because I want Stanton dropped I am a comedian

Yes I think Stanton needs to be dropped to show him and the team it's not a holiday camp playing AFL football.... Just ask Milne & Del Santo!!!

No one is above being dropped, it would most likely be for one week anyway but the impact of that would be a good one for Stanton and for our young side.

Only dropping young guys in their first or second year because they aren't doing what is required isn't as noticable as a player who has been in the side regularly (MY OPINION)

I see Stanton in the exact same position as Del Santo was for the Saints.

For someone with Stanton's ability shouldn't be just doing the norm, he should be wowing us with his tackling, his excellent disposals, his damaging use of the ball when he gets it 30+ times etc... IMO he doesn't do this!!

Pretty much. ;)

There are better words out there but we don't need to go there. It's total rubbish to ask for a guy to be dropped when he got 7 out of the 10 coaches votes, votes in media circles and praise for his defensive work running back into the 50 from the assistants.

The extra's in the squad at training today where LNM, Skippy, Houli and Myers.
Bellchambers came in near the end of training so he will be with Bendigo this week and training with their squad.

It looks like there will be no changes with the same emergencies.

Not sure what game you were watching, Presti played on Welsh last week the entire game, not Johnson. Pears or Hurley will take Welsh, especially as Johnson hasen't been playing at full forward, he has played much more of a half forward this year hence why he has less goals but is leading league in goal assists.

Welsh doesn't have a great record against the best full backs like Scarlett, Rutten, Presti etc, but against younger, less experienced opponents his record is quite good and shouldn't be dismissed.

LNM?? Who's this LNM??? Lathan Novett-Murray?? ;)

I do agree that there doesn't look like there will be any changes to the team this week.

New improved clone we have been secretly working on ;):D

Yes we have had an ordinary team for too long, would you say we are improving?? Open your eyes I'm having a go at people on this thread and others continually calling for Stants to be dropped? If he's getting in the coaches votes DO YOU REALLY THINK HE IS GOING TO BE DROPPED??
I'm not saying he is A-grade, he's only 23 and obviously has a few things to iron out of his game.BUT! OBVIOUSLY MATTHEW KNIGHTS the COACH thinks Stants has an IMPORTANT role within the team and can possibly iron out the negatives as he goes???? It is fine for people to have their opinions but try to make them as educated as possible without posting crap. Alot goes on within the club that we do not know about, especially
with players trying to improve there games, so when Knights puts Stants in the votes that tells me he could be happy with his game??
As for my username lol, yours is on fire at the moment:D
I wasn't calling you a Geek directly but you no what they say, if the cap fits.:p

Was at training today and saw Tayte look a little sore. Knights said they would make a decision on him tomorrow. also thought i heard the coaching staff say that Lonergan would miss for some reason. Hope i'm wrong. Other than that all looked good. Skippy & Bachar looked sharp.
