Crofty is IN!! Praise Bevo and the match committee for this gracious gift.

Not sure how much time we can afford to give him, but it was definitely time to give the Kid something.

Freo have some pretty important outs this week still too so evens the ledger a bit with who we have missing. Walker, Young, Fyfe, Darcy, Switkowski are all important players when fit so not catching them at the worst time.

I was more thinking of the case where the player wants out. Say his amount is $1 for 4 years. His contract states $1.5M in years 1 and two and $500k for the last two. After year 2 player says I want out and want to go to Pies. Is our only option to force him to stay for the last two years when he doesn’t want to be there?
Yep but you get “overs” in a trade to make up for it. It’s to opposite of the Bowes deal essentially. If you can keep a $1m quality player only consuming $500k in the cap then you’re not going to move them on for only “fair value”.

Surprised that Croft would be travelling emergency, you’d think they would want him to get game time in VFL.

Do we know that he is?

I’d say Arty is a certainty to be the travelling emergency to give him time to see his family.

Freo fans have every right to hate Lobb. Signed a big contract, tried half the time and then asked for a trade every off-season.

We've been lucky to have the good Lobb. Even that only started when he moved back

Their fault for playing him out of position.

No changes is about right, unless there's someone injured ready to come back then we don't really have the luxury to drop for form.

The Jordan Croft situation this week really highlights how poor the VFL setup is as a second tier to the AFL.

As a young player on the verge of senior selection, the experience of traveling to Perth with the senior team and participating in the preparations is no doubt valuable, but it sucks that it costs him another game of competitive experience.

It wouldn't be so bad, but as the AFL season enters R5, it'll leave a fit, healthy Croft with 1 game played for the season, against poor opposition.

There's got to be a better system for developing AFL listed players to be getting invaluable competitive experience early in seasons in real games.
